I choose to read this book because I love the show Gossip Girl. The book is about a person who knows everyone secrets and displays them on gossipgirl.net and the seniors at Constance Billard School for girls want to know if they’re getting into college. My favorite character would have to be Blair Waldorf. Blair Waldorf is really outgoing and she does whatever it takes to get what she wants. What she has wanted to get is Yale. She’s my favorite character because that’s how I am. The emotions tha...more

When she goes down state to show off her film, it’s not the film...more
I'll admit it: I really like Gossip Girl as a show. And I was going to Europe for a couple weeks, so my mom bought me this as something to read on the plane. I had no plans to read it, but I packed it anyway, in case I ran out of books. It's sort of hard to find English books in central Europe. I did end up reading it on a day I was feeling sick, and I didn't hate it; I read it in a couple hours, without stop, but man, I really didn't like it. It requires you to suspend your disbelief, which is...more
In the fourth installment of Gossip Girl things are about to drastically change. These rich, beautiful, wild life Upper EastSide New York kids are still up to their backstabbling, malicious ways but this time life is gonna throw them some curveballs.
Blair is still waiting to see if she'll be accepted by Yale but after the whole interview mess and accidental affair with an older man things don't look so great, but meanwhile her obsession with ex-boyfriend Nate continues, though she is finding new...more

This is the fourth book in the Gossip Girl series by Cecily von Ziegesar. It starts out where the third book left off, with the gang going more and more crazy. This series, although it is funny, is very unrealistic to a person who has never lived a privileged New York life, but it is still worth the read - hey, it is fiction! There are many new characters introduced in this edition of GG and they are all a little more off kilter then the originals. Nate meets a new girl, who is completely out of...more
I was both impressed and horrified by this book. The first page was an excerpt from a blog-type website, seemingly written by a high school girl. Noticeably absent were the abbreviations, bad grammar and lack of punctuation so often seen with technological teens. This impressed me. The following pages of sex, drugs, smoking and the like weren't so impressive. I understand why they're appealing, and the story itself had a Sex in the City-like vibe. But I must still have an old-fashioned sense of...more
“Because I’m worth it” is part of a series called the Gossip Girl Novels. This book follows the lives of several teens, mostly seniors, through the month of February in New York City. In this book, the seniors are waiting to see if they have been accepted early into their college of choice. Also, Valentine’s Day and Fashion Week are major events that all the characters are stressing/excited for.

Because I'm Worth It, by Cecily von Ziegesar, is overall a good read. The quirky and sarcastic style of writing, which remains consistent through each of the books in the series, adds humour to the drama in the teenagers' lives.
The plot, however, is somewhat lacking, in that I was not absolutely desperate to read the next chapter. In fact, in contrast to the first three Gossip Girl novels, some of the characters' storylines became somewhat tedious. I found myself looking forward to reading Blair...more

February is a time of love and heartbreak. Valentine’s Day is an important day for any girl and Manhattan’s elite high school students are no different. The rich kids like to drown their sorrows in a stiff drink and a great party…or they just go to Fashion Week in Bryant Park and attend the best afterparties with famous people galore. Love, sex, and new relationships abound in the 4th installment of the Gossip Girl series and you can be sure that the rumor mill is overflowing during this season...more
It's ridiculous how stuck up and bitchy these characters are, but I just can't help but keep reading. It's like a little guilty pleasure. There lives and stories are so silly that it makes me laugh. I can't help but want to know what else is going to happen.
I've never seen the television show, so this whole world is new to me. I have nothing to compare it too. But I think I am already going to like the books better. They just seem a little more stupid then what they would appear on screen.

The childish storytelling is starting to wear on my nerves. All the girls are always giggling (and driving me batty). Most of the action has no consequence, and half the time I can't tell whether the narrator is being genuine or sarcastic. I've found it's best to read quickly and not think about the writing as much.

There is a television series based on this book series. This book is number 4 of the series. The story is about a group of rich upper Eastside New York teenagers. These teenagers are cruel and backstabbing. Blair will do anything and everything to get into Yale. Nate turns over a new leaf after getting busted with drugs. Dan and Vanessa grow in their relationship, but then Dan has an affair. Serena starts settling in with Aaron, but who knows how long that will last. There are scandals all over...more

This book was about a girl who thought that she was better than everybody until someone came that was much better. so,she decided to do everything she could to keep everyones attention on her. what i learned from this book was to never stoop down to others level when they start to become jealous of you.
I really like this book because it is about drama, teenagers, and it's easy to relate to. It has drama about girls such as Elise and Jenny both having body issues, or Dan and Blair getting in a fight over school. This book is very interessting because I feel I can relate to it because they use real problems teenagers struggle with, and do the same things everyone does at school. I don't like how there isn't really a conflict and it feels like your listening to people make bad choices the whole t...more
I like the Gossip Girl franchise very much, but this is one of those rare cases where the TV Series is better then the book. I prefer their personality's and the plot lines more. Because I'm Worth It, revolves around the eagerly anticipate early collage acceptance that its expected for all Upper East Siders. Blair trying to get into Yale, despite screwing up her interview. Dan and Vanessa dealing with their new found fame. Serena, well just being Serena. Jenny just trying to fit in and making fr...more

I love the TV show, and am going through withdrawal waiting for the next season, so my husband got me this book. I love it! The characters are all recognizeable from the TV show, but they're not exactly the same, and the plot diverges. It's like an alternate-universe Gossip Girl, where some of the things are the same (Blair wants to get into Yale, Serena is chosen to model in a fashion show) but the particulars are completely different. And the author really nails Manhattan life, all the boutiqu...more

Is Nate and Blair over for good? Are they more than friends, or just friends? When Nate went out with Blair they went out for a while. Than Jenny a freshmen is going out with Nate(senior). At this time Blair is very jealous, and mad at Nate and Jenny because they have a realtionship. Nate is a handsome senior that is every girls dream. He does not need to find the girls they find him. The internal conflict in "Because I'm Worth It" reflects off of Blair Waldof. The internal conflict that she is...more
There's really no point in writing a review for this book. Your credulity has been strained by the last three books, and this one isn't going to suddenly go easy on you. Best piece of schlock in this one: Serena, magically "discovered" as a supermodel while she buys her boyfriend a "Les Best" jacket, is shooting a perfume ad for Les Best when the boyfriend breaks up with her. The resulting single, perfect tear on her cheek becomes the ad, and the perfume is now dubbed "Serena's Tears." That mome...more
Book 4 of my unexplainable "crush" on these Gossip Girl books. Probably my lowest rating so far of the books.
Usual cast of characters and no one new introduced, at least no one interesting to me. That's okay. I get kind of confused on the chapter breaks when Gossip Girl is going over "sightings" and she only uses the first initials. B, S, V, D, A, J, etc etc.
I will read book 5, because it's there, and because I do want to find out if Blair gets into Yale. I'm starting to care. I do want to find...more

This is a book full of betral and jealousy. Many best friends are like Blair and Serena. They hang out with each other a lot then all of a sudden something happens, then they're not getting along. Later on, one of them feels like talking to the other and acting like nothing ever happened while the other one is still full of anger.
I think the point of friends is so when your in trouble they're there to help, I don't think they are there for you to fight with even when there's a problem. The aut...more

I am enjoying the Gossip Girl books a lot, but they are riddled with stupid stereotypes about Europe.
In this book it was Nates pot dealer moving back to Amsterdam. Seriously?
In one of the other books (Gossip Girl The Carlyles Book 1) I came across:
- Someone moving to Amsterdam to work at a tulip farm, and sending wooden shoes for Christmas every year. (OMFG! This one just blows my mind.)
- European men liking their women hairy. Trust me, we do not. European women shave just like like Americans...more

I’m finding it a little hard to get my thoughts together for this review, because all of the Gossip Girl books have started to melt together for me, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it does make it a little hard to recall exactly what I’m supposed to be giving my thoughts on right now. Well, here goes nothing.

This book takes a new, juicy spin on everyone's personal life. The only bummer was that nothing really memorable happened in this book, as there were no earth-shattering moments (okay, so I'm exaggerating) like from what I remember from the previous three books. (view spoiler) But I really did enjoy all the new aspects on everyone's lives, and can't wait to move on to the next book!

I basically read this book only because I love the set. I love NYC, and I wanted to get the new york feeling by reading this. In that way, it was great. They often mentioned streets, stores, parks... I liked that part. Also, I liked that it was set in February, at fashion week. Even though it wasn't such a huge part, I liked it. What they also mentioned on every single page was what they were wearing, and I honestly couldn't care less. Sure, I get that a part of it all is wearing designer clothe...more

I love and I hate Gossip Girl. Each time I pick up a book I start reading it and think "meh." Meh- because it's so hard to believe in the lives of these rich girls and boys. I could sooner believe in aliens then what these people get away with. But then I keep reading and at the end of each book I think - "well, I guess I should buy the next one."

We all have such totally varied tastes that someone is going to look at you and think, yum-yum dee-lish, no matter what you think you look like. You just have to learn to see what they see. ”
