As Christmas approaches, Betsy has more on her mind than Queenly duties. There's still shopping to be done, a Christmas tree to put up in Jessica's house (to the horror of the vamps that reside there!) and her new baby step-brother. There's also a wedding to plan (she keeps pushing back the date she'll make it official with Sinclair), the matter of former-Bee Jon wanting to write her life's story for a college class, the reappearnce of vampire librarian Marjorie who wants her to write a column f More...

From a blog post I wrote in 2006:

As part of my weekend binge reading, I plowed through the first four books in Mary Janice Davidson's Undead... series. The titles are: Undead and Unemployed, Undead and Unwed, Undead and Unappreciated and Undead and Unreturnable.

Davidson combined two of my favorite genres, Chick Lit and Vampire, into a wonderful series. The main character, Betsy Taylor, gets hit be a car on her 30th birthday and wakes up in a coffin at the funeral home. Wh More...

So, there wasn't a big bad guy trying to kill Betsy this time, but it seems her sweet sister who is the devil's spawn may be going over to the dark side. There was a serial killer, but he didn't really have anything to do with Betsy and crew until the ghost of one of his victims shows up wanting Betsy to help catch the killer. He ends up dead after Laura loses his temper while they rescue his latest victim.

Also, Betsy and Eric fight. A lot. I think they may have finally gotten past som More...

While Eric Sinclair considered them consorts and not in need of a wedding ceremony, Elizabeth (Betsy) Taylor had always dreamed of her wedding day. She was having a wedding, she was the Queen Vampire and no one was going to stand in her way of having that dream wedding. Not her new born baby brother, not the growing friendship with her half sister (the devil’s spawn), not the vampire fiend living in the basement, not the human serial killer, not the new ghost checking out all of her shoes, and More...

Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor is busy planning her wedding - when she's not busy fighting with her soon to be husband Eric Sinclair that is. She'd like to spend all her time planning the wedding but there are too many other things going on in her life. She has a new baby brother that she likes to visit even if she can't stand her stepmother; it's Christmas time; she has a feral vampire living in her basement; ghosts won't stop asking for her help; her sister Laura is starting to act oddly; and ther More...

Undead and Unreturnable is book 4 in Mary Janice Davidson's Queen Betsy Series - and I know what you're going to say... "Don't you have anything else to read?!" Well, yes I do, but alas gentle reader, you will just have to come along with me for a couple of more reviews in this series. I have gotten the first 5 books from the library, and am waiting on the next 2. What can I say, it's an undead world out there, and I'm just living in it! But I digress...

Undead and Unreturna More...

Still in love :P

I thought that as I read this series that I might end up losing interest. So many series start off amazing and then turn blah. While there's nothing earth-shattering about Betsy's story, it's still a fun, light read. New problems arised between all people around and yet again there's a killer on the loose. Part of me wonders why there are so many freaks and sociopaths running around in Betsy's world, but I'll let it go because I love this series. It's still hilarious. More...

This book was so mediocre. It was a book about a young woman Betsy Taylor who gave up her “liveliness” for the life of the undead with and for her fiancé' Eric Sinclair. So she has everything going for her she is marrying the man of her dreams her vampire boyfriend who happens to be the King of all vampires so she is now the Queen. She lives in a beautiful house too. But she is facing quite a few obstacles; her new shiny title of Queen comes with a few friends, paranormal ones. You see Betsy is More...

Another 5++ stars book from MJD! Enjoyable and hilarious as usual, I liked again what I previously liked in the other books: character consistency, but I didn't mention hot and creative sex so I'll put it in my list. I know I'm being redundant in my reviews but this whole series is a worthy collection. The best thing about the heroine is she's not full of herself, she still acts human (except for the drinking blood and superpowers vampire stuff) and coexists peacefully with the others, not of he More...

Some people criticized Undead and Unreturnable because it didn't really have a strong plot (if the other books had more, I must have missed it somehow), but considering how many times I laughed out loud (well, really, it was more like barking—what with the sinus infection and all), it just wasn't a big issue for me. These books just make me smile, and sometimes that's enough. Which isn't to say there isn't any meaningful content to them, of course.

And absolutely, hands down, the be More...

Wow. I thought I would've had enough of Betsy's whining by now. I expected to be bored by at least a third of the book, but surprisingly I wasn't! I like it even more than the second book (Undead and Unappreciated).

In addition to planning her wedding with Sinclair, Betsy now has a new Ghost friend, grows closer to her Devil's Daughter sister, babysits her brother, while guiding new Vampires through correspondence and tracking a Serial Killer at the same time. What a busy life!

Undead and Unreturnable is the fourth book in the Betsy Taylor Vampire Series by MaryJanice Davidson. In this book, Betsy is making plans for her wedding to Sinclair. Also, serial killer is on the loose and targeting tall, blue-eyed blonde-haired women.

Well, I hate to say it but this book gets the kiss of death "meh" rating. It was just okay. I really would like to know where this series is headed, because nothing really special happened in this book. There were no major events and eve More...

So it's the fourth one in a series I guess and I think it would have been less confusing if I had read the earlier ones because it took effort to figure out who was who, and who was a vampire and who wasn't, etc.

Also, the story is mostly about the characters and the serial killer plot is very much in the background.

The writing style is unique and I can't quite explain it but it was a little refreshing and a little confusing all at the same time.

This will be my last Queen Betsy book. As much as I like the characters, there was just no plot here! You get a few promises of interesting stuff that might happen later, particularly with Betsy’s sister (the daughter of the devil), but nothing actually happens. I expected there to be a lot more involvement between Betsy and Nick as they search for the Driveway Killer, but instead, it’s all wrapped up inside of a chapter in a pretty anti-climatic way. Oh yeah, you get some expected bickering b More...

In book 4 of the Queen Betsy series by MaryJanice Davidson, we have Betsy trying to plan a “normal” wedding ceremony for her and Eric Sinclair, her consort/husband. Sinclair is giving Betsy a hard time by being a typical fiancé that doesn't want to partake in pre-wedding preparations. Their date keeps getting pushed back and only stressing Queen Betsy more than she already is. On top of this a serial killer, the driveway killer is More...

Hmmmmm, vampires and Christmas - my favorite things! What could go wrong? Hmph. No Christmas. Despite the fact that there's a Christmas Tree on the cover, there is very little Christmas in the book. A mention of it here and there, but nothing to make the book Christmasy. There was a serial killer, though, which always helps. I'm beginning to think Sink Lair is just a jerk and Betsy needs find a real boyfriend. I vote for Nick the cop, but he seems to have his eyes on Jess. Or is that ju More...

Betsy is busy. She visits her own, brand new grave stone, sees dead people on a regular basis and helps them with their problems, plans her wedding and goes hunting for a serial killer with her demonic sister. It’s all in a day’s work.

60-odd pages in, I was actually hoping that Betsy would pose as bait for the serial killer and would get kidnapped. That could have been fun. Sadly, it didn't happen.

I liked this book better than the last one, although not much has changed. More...

I really like the Queen Betsy books, they are fun, light reads. However, this one only rated 3-star from me because it seems like the plot got lost in all of Sinclair (Betsy's sexy fiance) and Betsy's constant arguing. There wasn't a whole lot going on besides that, the whole serial killer thing was maybe a chapter in the book and wrapped up with barely any drama at all. There is the set-up (for future books I'm sure) of Betsy's half-sister starting to lose her good-girl ways and turning toward More...

what can you say about a vampire queen whose loyalty can be bought by designer shoes?

this book was a disappointment of sorts for me. i mean, dont get me wrong...i am absolutely in l o v e with this series. but it's possible that after finishing the last book with all of the new action and romance i built up too much suspense for myself waiting for this book to arrive for me. and although it was a good read (finished it in a day, i'm proud to say) it was a surprising bump in the seri More...

Like usual, there's a stick figure on the cover. Although I do love all the covers, the stick figure of Betsy is a little much. But never the same, it's the actual book that matters. And as usual, this series delivered. I love all the books in Davidson's series so far. Of the four I've read, I'd have to say that Undead and Unappreciated(#3 in the series) is my favorite.

This is book 4 of the Undead Series with Queen Betsy her king Eric Sinclair and the gang.

It took me a bit to get into this book which is unusual. We see a little more of the Feral Vampire George in this story. Betsy’s sister Laura becomes quite mean for a bit, showing her true colours. I didn’t like that Eric and Betsy fought as much as they did either but I did like them getting together when they did.

There was also a serial killer on the loose and with help of a ghost Betsy More...

Well, I still love the characters but I am tired about Sinclair always getting mad with Betsy. Don't get me wrong, I know there has to be problems but I don't like them lasting almost half of the book. I also feel the author needs to have them sit down and have a "talk". I feel like they just make up with the sex and not talk about all their issues. Maybe it will happen in the 5th book but I am not holding my breath. And the only time Sinclair tells her how much she means to him - is w More...

Betsy the vampire queen is faced with the trials of the holiday season, as she struggles to cope with a half-sister who is the devil's daughter, an evil stepmother, and a spring wedding to plan with her one-time nemesis, Eric Sinclair.

This is the first book I've read by this author. I wish I had started the series with the first book. This title can stand on its own, but it's hard to sort out who the characters are and how they are related. There is a lot of humor and it was enterta More...
