I read this book after living in Beijing for 6 months, which proved to be very interesting as I compared my experiences to the authors'. I'm not sure that there is anything that can prepare you to move to Beijing. However, this book could be useful to give you some idea of what to expect. I found the history part fairly interesting although very basic. The book contained a lot of good advice about how to handle finances, housing issues, shopping, etc. Since I am not working in Beijing I found ...more
