The first book in the BIFN series! When Freshman Stacey Brown starts having nightmares about her roommate and bestfriend Drea, she goes on a journey that will change her perspective on her nightmares. It starts off with phone calls between drea and this "unknown guy" she won't mention, later there's notes and mysterious packages, and later death threats. Stacey needs to sleep so she can dream, and help save drea but will she be able to do it in time? Using her intuition and her Wicca,

It was such an amazing novel that I really did not want to put it down because I wanted to keep on reading to the end to find out who the stalker was.
Stacey is a wicca who has been having a bed-wetting problem ever since she began to have nightmares about someone trying to kill her best friend and dorm roommate, Drea. When someone starts prank calling their room and leaving creepy notes to Drea, Stacey knows all too well that her dreams are a premonition for a murder...Drea's murder. She, Drea, More...

I read this for the first time when I was in high school. I couldn't remember what it was about, only that witches were involved and that I had liked it so much I'd stayed up until 3am on a school night to read it. When I saw this book for 50-cents at a local bookstore, I knew I had to buy it.

Pourquoi Bleu cauchemar?

Mi aveva fatto capire More...

This is one of those stories where the main character has a somewhat vague vision and spends most of the time trying to figure out what it means. She does all these spells which seem to have roughly no effect at all. I guess maybe you can look at it like a bit of an intro to Wicca the religion and just consider it like the prescient dreams/visions are her only "power". It does seem a lot like the little rituals Stacey does are more de-stressing methods than anything that's meant to

I was lucky enough to meet Laurie Faria Stolarz a couple of months ago at a YA author event at Books of Wonder. I brought along every single one of her published novels (yeah, I am that person) and she was awesome enough to sign them all!
So, if you couldn't already tell where this was going, I am a HUGE fan of Laurie Faria Stolarz!

Blue is for Nightmares is an excellent read! While reading, I felt like I was the main character, Stacey Brown. Everything she felt I felt, from anger, sadness, fear and even embarrassment. I loved this book so much that I referred it to one of my best friends right after I finished. The characters' personalities work so well together its crazy!

This book was okay but something about it bothered me severely. I couldn't put my finger on it for a while but eventually i figured it out.
Stacey brown reminds me of Ever freaking Bloom. The brainless protagonist of the Evermore series. Not to mention fucking annoying. Though, too be nice, she doesn't make nearly as many mistakes as ever. Thank god. However, i didn't subtract stars for that little pet peeve of mine. This is what got the stars subtracted.

So far, there’s nothing pretty about Stacey Brown’s junior year at boarding school—not only does she have a crush on her best friend’s boyfriend, she’s started wetting the bed—always after having a terrifying nightmare that she can’t quite remember. The last time she had nightmares, a little girl died. And this time, she’s dreaming about Drea, her best friend who’s the target of one seriously psycho stalker. A Wiccan through her grandmother, gifted with magic powers she doesn’t fully understa

I first heard of this book after reading Deadly Little Secrets, another book by Laurie faria Stolarz, and all I have to say is that I’m glad I flipped to the front to see other books by her. 2 stars isn't a bad thing in my book. (no pun!) The beginning is rocky--the narrative is clunky and feels very immature due to moments of heavy-handed exposition and generic teen characterizations. The given circumstances also feel annoyingly familiar: we're at a co-ed boarding school, there are creepy goings-on, and our protagonist--Stacey Brown--is a witch. But Stacey is of the Wicca persuasion, and this is a new sort of character to my reading experience. I found myself both intrigued and

This is the first book in the Blue is for Nightmares series; so far there are 4 books in this series. This book was kind of a cross between a mystery and a teen horror flick with a paranormal bent to it. It was a suspenseful and creepy novel that was hard to put down and had a number of surprising twists to it that left me unable to stop reading.
The book is written from the viewpoint of Stacey Brown. Stacey is a practicing Wiccan who has the ability to see the future. Exactly what Stac More...

This is a truely wonderful YA depiction of a young girls life... and wicca. Although this book has been out for many years now i just recently picked it up. It was a super fast and easy read which i really enjoyed. Didn't take a lot of thinking, not to mention wicca is not as widely used these days in YA fiction as vampires which is quite a breath of fresh air.

In this book one of the main themes that I noticed was an ability to look within yourself and being able to trust yourself. Listen to your instincts and they will guide you. I would rate this book a 3.5 or 4 because I liked the characters in the book and the way the author had them speaking when I was reading the book I felt like I was there with the characters and that I was involved so for me it made it easy for me to understand since I could get into the setting of the book and I could gras

Blue is for nightmares is a story about stacy Brown who is a 16year old at Hillcrest Boarding school. She is a hereditary wiccan from her grandmother. She really wants to have a normal life and experience at school, but she can't, as she starts having nightmares about her best friend and roommate Drea dying. Stacy knows that she can't ignore these nightmares. She learned this lesson three years earlier when she ignored nightmares about a girl she used to babysit named Maura, and she was murde

Stacey starts having dreams again, only this time they’re about her friend Drea. Her friends Amber, PJ, and Chad try to help her, but Stacey isn’t finding out enough information from her dreams.

This is another one I didn't enjoy much. It came as an "extra" in a batch of books I got through eBay. Now I know why they wanted to give it away!
I think the author was trying to write a book similar to a teen horror movie. She kept having the characters say and think things like, "It's like some bad horror movie or something," and "This isn't a slasher movie, it's a prep school," and "Some senior boys are treating this like a cheesy horror movie... This book is about Stacy Brown who has nightmares that reveal dangers in her everyday life. She ignored them once before and a young girl died, now her nightmares are about her best friend Drea and she is determined to do what she can to save her.I wasn't that impressed with the characterization and I felt the book was a bit surface. However, it was a quick read, and I was interested enough to see how it ends. I have her other books though and am not in any rush to pick them up.

In the book “Blue is for Nightmares” by Laurie Stolarz, 16-year old Stacey has been having nightmares about her roommate, Drea. In these nightmares Stacey is desperately trying to find Drea. But that’s not the bad part, the last time she ignored her nightmares, they were about a little girl that ended up dead.

Well, I feel a bit schizophrenic, with my extremes of likes and dislikes, but a great many YA reads seem to be either very good or very bad, and the very bad get an extra kick from me when they are blatantly poorly pieced together commercial rubbish based on supposed 'high interest' factors in teen reads.
This book is at least not a knock off of the Twilight series, I guess its got that going for it, but then again there's a lot of rubbish that Twilight can't take the blame for out there. More...

This book was very good. When I laid eyes on the cover and read the title, I thought this would be a horror book filled with spells and rituals. I was wrong. It is about Stacey, an average girl who has one special gift, nightmares that apparently predict the future. She continues to happen about her best friend and her psycho stalker. Throughout the book, Laurie Faria Stolarz's method of writing kept me reading. Her writing has a sense of suspense while making just enough room for horror. Someth

Amazon rates this book for Grades 7-10, which I think is quite accurate. As an adult who reads a lot of YA novels, this one just didn't do anything for me. Yes, it had drama, yes, it had suspense, but there was little to no character development. A quick and easy read for middle schoolers for sure.
The story takes place at a boarding school, which we are given absolutely no information on. We are also given no information on any of the characters. The story immediately winds up, f More...
