4 ½-5 stars – Vampire Romance

I really enjoyed this sixth installment in Lara Adrian’s awesome Midnight Breed series, but found myself feeling a little confused at first because it’s been a while since I’ve read the previous books and there is an ongoing story arc that’s central to the story.

For those of you who haven’t yet read this series, there are similarities often drawn with J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood and Ward herself gives an author endorsement, but Adrian More...

^^ BURN BABY BURN!^^

Another wonderful instalment in the Breed series, and I don’t know, I am liking them way better now. I find it that the series is starting to shine on its own now. The similarities to other vampire books is becoming less and less, and the action more spine tingling. I am talking hairless brooding vamps, with sex appeal that can warm the coldest winter. Plus the friendships are deeper, and the love oh so much stronger.

Andreas More...

Okay I'm not sure why this entry into Adrian's Midnight Breeds series got such bad press- I think this one is one of my favorites!

AOM not only had the typical thrilling suspense we've come to expect in Adrian's popular pnr series, but also some uber romantic elements, I find myself helpless to resist.

Not only linked by the fact they are tied to a race of Alien progeny, Andreas Reichen and Claire Roth have a history together. Long ago they fell in love, only to be parted b More...

Really enjoyed the story but even after reading it a second time i still don't like Claire. Her logic just doesn't add up to someone who claims to love a person so fiercely. The fact that it took her so long to realize for sure who was the real villain just made me want to slap her a bit.

*sigh* I think i need to go back to reading another genre for a while.

I finally finished this one and it was good, just as the other novels in the series have been, and the heroine Claire was ok in the beginning, but, got on my nerves by the last few chaps. of the book, as usual with the books in this series...I liked the powers that both Andreas and Claire had....Andreas the pyrokenesis and Claire, the ability to dreamwalk, those were both some pretty cool powers to have...At this point I am wondering if Dragos is ever going to get caught and killed at some point More...

Well, I must say I was very pleasantly surprised with Ashes of Midnight. Because I have had a crush on Andreas for a while, I've been looking forward to this book, although this seems to be a least favorite of a lot of fans of this series. Veil of Midnight ended with things in an abysmal place for Andreas. His whole family was wiped out through an act of his enemy, Wilhelm Roth, who is highly placed in the Enforcement Agency. This book begins in medias res of Andreas' brutal quest for vengeanc More...

I was rather looking forward to Reichen's story after Veil of Midnight but the plot's become more absurd, with pyrokinesis (now that's an awesome concept) as the one dividing factor in uniting two lovers together ... The good things about it though were the numerous locations for the setting (although Berlin could have been more ... detailed?) and in particular, the conflict and tension between Reichen, Clare and her Breedmate, Roth. The former two of whom unabashedly have a passionate affair, w More...

I had a hard time remembering the history of the characters in this series (and considering I've read them all at some point isn't good) so I had to rate this as a stand alone novel.

The problem with this series and others like it is that they all kind of run together, especially if you read them from the beginning and have to wait for each new release in the series. There were times when reading Ashes that it mirrored Ward's "Blackdagger" series so muc More...

The story of Andreas Reichen and Claire Roth is my favorite so far.
Not only the romance part, but the whole story around it. Waw, what a story !
Especially near the end it was very emotional.

Andreas Reichen is on a path of revenge, searching for Wilhelm Roth. Roth is the one who send a death squad to Reichen's Darkhaven and killed every last one of his kin, even the children. And Roth turned poor Helene into a minion.

I love (or hate) the charachter of Wilhelm Roth, h More...

On the positive side: this series is still one of my guilty pleasures. I really enjoyed this book, the story, the writing and the narration are quite addictive.:D As usual, I loved the main characters, the action, the world building... I loved that we got to see some of the previous books' characters again, I really missed them *cough* Tegan!!! *cough* and some good old Order action. I love how strong and unique are all the warriors and their mates, how much they complete each other and how they More...

I love Vampire stories. Some of my favorites are about Vampires that don't fit the old mold of undead mindless creatures or undead soulless creatures. Sure those stories are interesting in there own right but I love fantasy so I want to read about vampires that are alien creatures or good guys or struggling.

The Midnight Breed series is an excellent example of one such story. Yes, they feed off of humans. Yes, they need blood to survive and you could say that some of the vampires in thi More...

Book VI of the Midnight Series is another great book put together by the amazing writer Lara Adrian. In this book you will met Andrea Reichen "Andre" (with pyroknettie powers, a very strong vampire, A Darkheaven's leader and a unconditional friend of the Order) and Claire Roth (a beautiful petite light brown skin lady with black hair and vanilla and warm spices smell with the power to invide dreams a Breedmate who has been in-love with Andre since they were young but for reason they do More...

"Ashes of Midnight" is the sixth book in the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian. If you have been reading my reviews, you know that this series follows a group of vampires known as The Order. Their mission is to keep both the civilian vampire population and humans safe from Rouges. Rogues are vampires who have succumbed to their blood lust and have turned into nothing but vicious, blood drinking killers.

Each book in the series so far has followed a different member of the More...

ASHES OF MIDNIGHT starts around 3 months after we left Andreas Reichen at the end of VEIL OF MIDNIGHT, devastated by the loss of his family and hell-bent on revenge he seeks retribution for those who were taken from him. One by one he is executing the ones involved in the attack on his Darkhaven, slowly but determinedly working his way up the chain of command to the one who ordered the attack: his archenemy, Wilhelm Roth. And he is willing to take everyone down who surrounds Roth, until he stumb More...

Ashes of Midnight is the sixth book in Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed paranormal romance series. This book in the series continues as The Order gets confirmation of their worst nightmare, an Ancient (one of the original aliens) thought long-dead but actually hidden by this society for the purpose of breeding a new race of unstoppable killer vampires. Andreas, has crossed the path of this secret society and lost his whole family as a result. Bent upon revenge he has nothing left to live for - excep More...

Ashes of Midnight is a well-written story that integrates the complex world-building and plot development evident in the rest of Adrian's Midnight Breed series.

Having enjoyed the five other installments in Adrian's Midnight Breed series, I was excited to read Ashes of Midnight. I especially like Adrian's fresh approach to vampirism: that they are descended from the all-male Ancients, beings stranded on Earth from another planet. With each book I hold out hope of learning the story of h More...

Overall I think this series is solidly 'Good'. It doesn't soar to new heights (& that's mainly b'c she consistently follows the arc of the BDB series) but it also doesn't falter.

In this book (just like BDB book #6: Lover Enshrined) - Adrian follows that outline & moves away from the romance more & gears up the plot line for an impending war.

The concept is also heavily borrowed from BDB (Omega breeding the ultimate warrior in Lash) by Adrian having Dragos make the ultima More...

Hmmm. "Ashes of Midnight" is book six in Lara Adrian's 'Midnight Breed' series. I have to say that it wasn't my favorite. I also have to say that it follows very well on the heels of book five, "Veil of Midnight", since events here pick up where it left off. This series is about Adrian's version of vampires (there's good ones and bad ones) and the good guys' fight to save humanity.

Claire never knew she was special--until Wilhelm Roth saved her from an More...

Ashes of Midnight by Lara Adrian
Paranormal Romance- May 26th, 2009
4 ½ stars

The thing I like best about Lara Adrian’s Breed Series is that she doesn’t take her readership for granted. Each time I read one of her books I learn something new and exciting. I only wish I knew more…but if she didn’t drag it out it wouldn’t be half as intriguing. In her latest installment, Ashes of Midnight we meet perhaps her most fearsome hero to date.

Riechen is a vampire bent More...

This picks up right where the last book left off. Andreas Reichen returned to his Darkhaven to find his entire family had been slaughtered and his human lover, Helene had been turned into a minion. Now he's back, he's mad, his power has resurfaced and he wants revenge. He's a man on a mission: to destroy the person responsible for his tragedy - Wilhelm Roth. To see justice served, Andreas won't let anything stand in his way, not even Roth's mate, Claire. The only problem is, Claire was once Andr More...

I really wanted to say "this is my favorite so far." Lara Adrian's lore and world is engaging and her male characters are enjoyable, if a little too tormented for my liking. Even with all that said, these reads would be quite enjoyable if it weren't for the fact that nearly every book has the plots hinging on some piece of stupidity by the heroine. Ashes of Midnight is no exception to this apparent Adrian plot rule. The notion that the hero and heroine waited so long to be together is, More...

My Review:
For some reason, this book felt really different to me than the other Midnight Breed stories. I don't know if it's because Andreas has never been one of my favorite characters or if it was because he had his own agenda to fulfill throughout the majority of this novel. He is totally focused on revenge and his talent, pyrokynesis, is completely out of control and quite honestly, he really doesn't care about that...as long as he doesn't hurt Claire.

This is a tough book for More...

I'm not sure what to make of this book, I liked some parts of it, others I didn't. The ending was quite nice and the way Adrian wrote the main characters was sometimes really intense. In fact here was one scene, well, more like a little part of a scene, that made my heart melt:

There is no stopping it, Claire. I've come too far to turn back now and you know it. I've pushed Roth too far these past few nights and weeks that I've been hunting him down." He

This is the 6th book in Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series, which focus on the german breed warrior, Andreas Reichen.
As we know from the 5th book, his clave and all of his nearest and dearest got brutally killed and in this book he is getting his revenge.
Claire and Reichen should have been together in the first place but because of Andreas "curse" he decided to leave her 30 years ago, but they never managed to totally forget eachother.
It was alot of suspense and angs More...

I'm a Lara Adrian fan, so I'll be upfront with that from the start.

Ashes of Midnight has a very dark thread running through it due to the pyro abilities that Andreas is cursed/blessed with. But Ms. Adrian uses that very well in the story that finally brings Andreas together with the one woman he's loved, Claire Roth.

Claire Roth suddenly finds herself exposed to the darker side of her mate Wilhelm. A man she bonded with after Andreas vanished on her before a bond could be fo More...

This book had a real epic tale quality to it. Who doesn't want their ex to have pined for them the entire time they were apart? And when our hero returns to his long lost love it's smokin hot! No...litterally. He sets himself and everybody near him on fire.

Reichen is busy wrecking havoc on the corrupt bastards who killed his entire darkhaven residence. He goes around using an ability to create fire based explosions, to blow the crap out of the people who murdered his family. He More...

As we know from the end of the last book, every man, woman and child in the hero's Darkhaven has been wiped out. This book is about Andreas' journey of revenge and personal destruction. Along the way he finds Claire his lost love [and wife of William Roth, the man who gave the order for the destruction.:] The h/h and the action move to Boston and the Order uses the heroine's abilities to track down Roth and his ally Dragos [the chief villain that the Order has been pursuing for several books: More...
