The movie that this book was birthed out of, Fireproof, starring Kirk Cameron, was amazing!! My husband and I both enjoyed it more than any movie we have seen in a long time. It was so nice to see a clear moral and Christian message for a change, rather than the filth that fills our eyes and ears on a daily basis. We ordered the book before we even saw the movie and were so glad that we did! We are not through the entire thing, but I highly recommend both the movie and the book for any one who i...more

The movie "Fireproof" starring Kirk Cameron is excellent and will help you relationship immensely. It is very anointed and has moved even the toughest guys I know to tears at the end. Very touching and inspirational.
The book that the movie is based on is called "The Love Dare" and it takes a lot of dedication and discipline to do, but, well worth every bit of the effort. I DARE You to try to make it through without blowing it! I dare you!

So far--EXCELLENT. This movie was EXCELLENT. Thank you Stephen Kendrick for creating this book. I am fortunate to be able to say that my husband and I have an excellent marriage, but in the 20 years we have been together there have been tough times, for sure. Now, with people we know doing destructive things in their marriages (speaking negatively about their spouses and to their spouses, rampant pornography, not prioritizing time with each other, etc.) marriages are not being nurtured and a...more

From the cheesiest, most powerful movie I ever loved, the 40 day love dare. I am on Day 27, and I am flunking my way through this book. This one is a good spiritual practic of a king not much in vogue - ministering to your spouse, because just like firemen don't abandon their partners in a firestorm, you don't abandon your spouse in a firestorm.

If you are married, and want your relationship to work out, this is the book to read. It speaks about Love, how God views love, and oneness--togetherness--and unity. It is a forty-day journey to see your spouse for who they are, who they have become, and who you love the most underneath God's leadership. God is the third thread in a marriage, there is a difference between a marriage contract and covenant with God. I take the covenant with God more so than marriage contract. I want to be married ...more

I worked through the 40 Dares in this book over the last month and a half, and it completely changed the way that I look at my spouse.
I have always loved her, but now I have found a better way to love her.
A very powerful dare asked me to visualize two rooms in my heart (one APPRECIATION and one DEPRECIATION) for my spouse. It asked me how often I go in the APPRECIATION room and how often I visit the DEPRECIATION room.
I made a three page list of things that I ...more

I really thought I'd like this book better than I did--and it's not that it's a bad book, it's excellent really, for those with struggling marriages--but so much of it is just not applicable for me and my relationship with my spouse. I thought it would be more about doing and saying things for my husband during the 40 days, to help our relationship grow and develop and mature. However, by about Day 20, a lot of the 'dares' have more to do with forgiving wrongs committed by your spouse, seeking...more

I saw the movie "Fireproof", which despite its cheese factor was really quite good (great message), and it's based on the book The Love Dare, about 40 days of being a better partner to your spouse. I'm not in a relationship, but I wanted to give both the book and the movie to my sister and wanted to read the book first before I gave it to her. Incredibly easy to read, but very powerful--the basic point is to be less selfless and to make your partner the priority. It sounds easy, but...more

This book, which was first introduced in the recent film Fireproof, is a 40-Day challenge to love your spouse better. It provides some helpful biblical exposition on topics related to marriage and the fruit of the spirit, specifically in the context of a marriage covenant.
While the focus of the Love Dare is definitely geared more towards leading non-Christians to saving faith in Jesus Christ in the context of saving their marriage, or to newer believers who have not had very much exposure ...more

Stephen Kendrick has an amazing ability to climb inside the mind of every married person and find out the secret thoughts and habits that make marriages good and bad. Even if your marriage is sailing smoothly you can still read this book and get advice on how to avoid the attitudes and actions that can harm a marriage later in life. It seems to me that most of the advice in Fireproof (some chapters excluded) could also be applied to siblings that are struggling with issues or parents and their...more

It doesn't matter if you are newly married or married for 50+ years, happily married or on the brink of divorce, this book is a must read AND USE for all couples. Many of these principles would apply to other relationships as well. While I needed to adjust some of the "dares" to fit my own beliefs, I find this book to be truly inspired and very helpful. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I gave it to my husband as a 31st anniversary gift - ironically it fell on Easter, a good day...more

I thought this book was really good. I liked how it focused on what "YOU" can do to strengthen your marriage instead of focusing on trying to change your spouse. To look inside and see what you need to repent of rather than blaming your spouse for his faults. I believe that the spirituality of marriage is the most important factor in having a strong marriage so I agreed with what the book had to say. Every married person should read it.
This is the best book ever. This book is not only for married couples but for everyone. It is a guide on love and treating people how they deserve to be treated, with love! I recommend this book to everyone as a one day at a time reading. No rush through this. Take the time to really understand and take it all in for use in your everyday life! This book has opened up a whole new understanding of Love in my life!

This is a Christian based, 40 day challenge for husbands and wives to understand and practice unconditional love! I don't have marriage problems but I know marriage takes work and there is always room for improvement! I have just read the first 2 chapters and I'm loving it! In the first chapter it talks about patience, the author says "Patience helps you give your spouse permission to be human" I love that!

I have watched the movie, done the 40 day Dare (even though I probably could do it over again) and am currently doing the Love Dare Small group study every week with my husband and some friends from church. Trying to live out God's plan for marriage isn't easy, especially in a world where divorce is so accepted. The Love Dare has opened my eyes and given me a new way to view my purpose in my marriage.

I got this a few weeks ago and am enjoying it so much. It is an actual "Love Dare" meaning that each day you have an assignment to do for your spouse and then journal time. It really gets you focused on serving your spouse- I thought it would be a good fathers' day/anniversary present. But---it's much better if your spouse doesn't know what you're doing, just that you're being really nice :)

So far, so good. We're on Day/ Week 2 & it is amazing what just a little more awareness does to make your marriage better & more pleasant. As two sarcastic, sick, twisted people, it is easy to turn simple teasing into hurtful, biting commentary. We really needed something like this book to act as a wake up call to stop that kind of behaviour before resentment and anger grow & take root.

One of the best--if not the best--books I have read on strengthening one's marriage. It presents a 40-day step-by-step challenge to make your marriage stronger, but the 40 steps could be applied throughout a lifetime in any relationship, especially marriage. This book is a perfect complement to the movie, "Fireproof," which enacts many of the principles taught in the book.

A TOTAL must for everybody--married or single. I am reading this book daily as a personal quiet time devotional. If you want to learn more about it, I have an awesome interview with the author on my Mom-to-Mom Radio Show. Here is the link: http://momtomomradioshow.com/lets-firepr...
Enjoy!

married friends
Started reading, but am now waiting for my husband to return to read together. It's a 40 "LOVE DARE" for married or committed couples--with challenges each day to help bring you closer together and closer to understanding each other. You read one chapter a day and then "TAKE THE DARE". . .MMMMMMMMMMMM. can't hardly wait!
