Seduce Me At Sunrise is a beautiful, evocative, sensual, moving, and lush romance of forbidden love, powerful yearning, and long-denied desire between two star-crossed souls. Although dark, cold, hardened, mysterious gypsy Kev Merripen and sweet, fair, innocent, well-bred Winnifred Hathaway might appear to be opposites, they've shared an intrinsic bond and deep love for each other since childhood. And yet the soul mates seemed destined to be kept forever apart by various twists of fate, including family tragedy, Win's illness, differences in social status, a curse, a persistent, respectable rival suitor after Win's hand, scandal, but mainly because of Kev's stubborn, anguished refusal to allow himself to be with the one and only woman his heart beats for.

I'm on a winning streak with these Lisa Kleypas books--5 Wallflowers books and now 2 Hathaways--and all were FABULOUS! I know I'm pretty easy to please, but I am loving every word of these two series!

I really found no fault in him at all because all of his actions and reactions were based in the reality of the child he was and the man he became. Everything he did, no matter the emotional or physical pain it caused him was truly was for Win’s own good. This is the kind of male I love. The man who, despite all the bad things in their pasts, still manage to be a good, honest, caring person.

There really are not words to express how much I loved this book! Kev stole the show, but I loved Win and her persistence. She wasn’t flighty or self absorbed or easy deterred. She knew what and who she wanted, and did what had to be done to reach her goal. Though I can’t say that I blamed her for momentarily considering dumping Kev after what he did – or more appropriately, did NOT do – and marrying Dr. Harrow; after all, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, right? But through it all there was never any doubt about who she wanted to be with.

I just adore the way Ms. Kleypas develops her characters throughout each novel. That makes it so that by the time we actually get to that person’s book, we already know so much about them which allows more page time for their story and not character development. I always find myself anxious to read the next book because I’m already attached to that person.

I was quite pleased to have found myself even more attached to Cam and Amelia, who I felt played a really small role in their own book. After reading Seduce Me At Sunrise I now feel a much deeper connection to the pair. For me, their relationship, their happily ever after is now complete – I believe in it.

I’m happy with the way this book ended. Slight Spoiler Ahead: With Kev and Cam finding that they are blooded relatives, and finding out about their ancestry, they now have a real family. No longer on the outside, looking in. True, Cam married and inherited the Hathaways, but to have someone sharing the same origin, the same background, the same blood… I’m very happy for them both. I think it was very fitting for Kev to have inherited the lands and the title, knowing that he, with his integrity and honor, would care for his step mother, step sisters and most importantly, the estate tenants.

As always, I can’t wait to read the next installment in the series, Tempt Me At Twilight.

Winnifred Hathaway was always ill ever since she was affected by the scarlet fever years ago that nearly took her life. Now, Winnifred finally has the chance to get well again by going to a well-known clinic in France that is run by Dr. Julian Harrow and when she comes back home from her treatment, Winnifred has become a changed woman! Kev Merripen, the handsome and strong Romany Gypsy that the Hathaway family has taken in ever since he was a boy, has always loved Winnifred, but because of his dark past, he refuses to confess his love for her. However, when Winnifred gets well again and her doctor, Dr. Julian Harrow starts romancing her, Kev and Winnifred will soon realize that their love might be more powerful than any dark secret can hold back.

Wow! I just have to say “wow” because this novel has totally blown me away with its dramatic writing and its brilliant title characters! Lisa Kleypas has definitely done a fantastic job at writing this novel about forbidden love and dark secrets and I thought that the “dark secrets” aspect of the story was woven into the story extremely well because it brought more drama to the story and it made the characters much more interesting to read about. What I really loved about this book were the characters themselves as they all have their dark secrets that they like to keep hidden from their loved ones, but they also know that if they keep those secrets hidden, they might risk losing the one they love. I really loved Winnifred Hathaway in this novel as she may seem weak because of her illness, but I started seeing a different side to her that I have never seen in the previous book and that was her determination to make Kev hers! Winnifred Hathaway has definitely shown so much courage and compassion for others in this book and that really made her stand out as a character that now she is on my list of favorite heroines and I really loved the way that she tries to help Kev open up his dark past to her because it showed how much she truly cared about him. Now, the hero of this story, Kev Merripen, is just awesome beyond all reason! At first, when I read “Mine Till Midnight,” he was shown to be always grumpy for no reason and it was a little hard for me to like his character. But, the moment I read this book, Kev Merripen is now officially one of my favorite romance heroes ever! I actually felt sorry for Kev whenever he had to come to grips with his dark past and how he was always worried about hurting Winnifred and that truly showed how caring and compassionate he really is despite his gruff nature. I also loved the mention of Kev’s massively muscular body since I love my romance heroes to be muscular and strong and Kev has got all the characteristics of a muscular and strong hero! I also loved seeing the continuing love of Cam and Amelia as it was just as dramatic in this story as it was in the previous book and I loved how Cam supported Kev throughout his trials of confessing his love towards Winnifred which truly made him into such a brilliant character and it was also great seeing Leo, the drunkard brother, regain his dignity in this book and he even helped out Kev with his relationship troubles. For romance fans, there are hot sizzling sexual scenes galore between Winnifred and Kev and they are just as steamy as Cam and Amelia’s and these scenes will make your romantic senses tingling as you read them!

For those of you who do not like reading about sex scenes in a novel, this book has plenty of sex scenes between Winnifred and Kev, so it would be best to skim over these scenes if they are too uncomfortable to read through.

Overall, “Seduce Me at Sunrise” is definitely a romance novel you cannot pass up and it is a brilliant sequel to the fantastic story “Mine till Midnight!”

I had forgotten the lyrical way she tells a story. I forgot her addictive storylines and her unbelievably tortured, sexy heroes…what was wrong with me? I am so glad I read this book. I simply loved every moment of it.

Kevin Merripen has loved Winnifred Hathaway since they were kids. Abandoned by his gypsy clan, and rescued by the Hathaway’s he has always thought of himself not good enough for her, but he feels he must protect her from any pain and suffering that may come her way. Winnifred has always loved Kevin. Strong and silent, he gives her comfort with his quiet presence and fills her nights with unrequited longing.

When Winn catches scarlet fever Kev is devastated. Afraid he might lose her, he nurses over her day and night. When her condition worsens, he remembers a remedy from his clan, and administers it to her. When Winn starts to recover, the bond between them grows even deeper. But, Winn has become weak from the fever and never fully recovers. Weak bodied, and not wanting Kev to settle on half a life with her, she knows she must do what she can to become healthier if she is ever to have Kevin’s love. When she hears about a Doctor that is practicing alternative medicine, this gives her hope to become better and be the woman she wants to be with Kev.

Kev does not Winn to go. She is his light in the darkness he calls his life. After refusing his wishes for her to stay, he becomes ever more withdrawn and surly in her absence. As the years go by, Winn writes Kev, but he only writes her back once. Frustrated by Kev’s lack of communication she starts getting more involved with the handsome Doctor who helped her with her almost full recovery. When she arrives home, she is surprised by the dangerousness and loneliness that surrounds Kev. Even with the Doctor’s affection, Winn cannot forget the man she loves and the man she refuses to live without, so she decides to fight for him and what they can have together.

What can I say about this book? Kev and Winn are a couple I loved to read about, I absolutely adored the Hathaway family! Not only is Seduce Me a Midnight the love story, but it is a story about survival and recovery from loss of loved ones and the determination it takes to have a happy life. Winn is a heroine that is smart, stubborn and knows how to fight to get her man. I can honestly say that most of the time I don’t like the heroines that I read about, but Winn is definitely a character that I cheered on and would like to call myself friends with. I cried with her, I cheered with her and I loved every romantic moment in this book. I truly hated for it to end, and I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series.

Seduce me at Sunrise can be read as a stand alone book. It is actually the second in the Hathaway series. Mine til Midnight is the first book in this series. Although, honestly I haven’t read Mine til Midnight yet, (I ordered it and will remedy that immediately), I had absolutely no trouble understanding the storyline and was able to follow along without any problems.

Seduce Me at Sunrise has opened my eyes. Not only has it earned a coveted place on my crowded keeper shelf, I have re-discovered one of my favorite authors Lisa Kleypas. If you love a well told beautiful romance with a brooding, sexy hero and a super smart heroine, this book is for you! This book dragged me in ~ Hook, line and sinker ~

Though I started this book first being the second in the series, I didn't feel confused at all. The book gave a good back history of the first novel to counteract that.

In the last book, Mine Til Midnight, we see that Win suffered from Scarlet Fever as a teenager, shortly after her parents die. The disease leaves her sickly and fragile. In the beginning of this book, Win leaves for a radical health clinic in France, determined to become stronger. Before she leaves, she reveals her true feelings to Merripen. Hurt that she is leaving and determined to hold onto his past, Merripen stupidly rejects her.

Win returns from France three years later, healthier, stronger and more robust. Without giving away any spoilers, I have to say that I love the way that Win and Merripen reunite after her return to London. While I have always enjoyed Lisa Kleypas's books, I have never really found them to be humorous. Seduce Me At Sunrise has humorous moments, most of them involving the Hathaway's brother, Leo. (Look for his criticism of Merripen's only letter to Win during her three year absence!)

Merripen is probably the most tortured hero I have ever read about. (East, I guarantee you'll love him!) Kleypas takes angst to new levels in this book. And while Winn may be a fragile, sickly creature, she is strong in spirit and does not fit the TSTL profile of most heroines. I also enjoyed reading the back story of the Hathaway family - if this has been included in the first book, I might have appreciated it even more!

Secondary characters include Cam Rohan, Amelia, a new family governess and the Hathaway sisters. I loved Cam's part in this book and the dialogue he shares with Merripen, but again, I can't give anyway any spoilers.

I think it was KarLynP who referred to Seduce Me at Sunrise as a big improvement over Lisa Kleypas's last book - Mine Til Midnight. I agree 100% and then some! I LOVED this book. In fact, I devoured it in just a matter of hours and plan to re-read it. I highly recommend this one!

Have you ever rea da book that totally involves you inthe story and characters? I could not put this one down. I fell in love with Win. Although she looks fragile and has been sick she has an inner strength that is remarkable. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was Kev. So, this is the 2nd Hathaway's Story...
When I read the 1st, Mine Till Midnight, I love Cam, but I thought Merripen would be greater from many aspects, but money than Cam.

At the beginning, that feeling got more and more real. "Yes, I will love Kev more..." that's what I thought. But then, there's an incident(in about the middle), which made me REALLY dissapointed with Merripen... The scene at Simon Hunt's house. I thought it was really a big mistake! My feeling for him just gone at that time.

My cheeks hurt. I think I’ve been grinning off and on for the last seven hours. This is yet another book that I could not put down. Win and Kev are… I don’t know if I’d describe them as perfect for each other or simply exasperating! Mine till Midnight hinted at the couples’ attraction for each other, Seduce Me at Sunrise just built up on that some more.

The verdict: TOTALLY HOT! Hahahaha.... Seriously though... YUMMMMM!!

ANYWAY, I really really liked this book. I was already invested in the characters after Mine Till Midnight, so of course I hated Dr. Harrow from page 1 (or HIS page one, anyway). The back of the book describes Harrow as "an attractive, seductive suitor". I remember zero seductiveness, just FYI. He's good looking, or whatever... but geez... NO, THANK YOU!

Kev also loved her, but kept it restrained, in case his passion for her would hurt her. Anyway, Win, suffering from the aftereffects of scarlet fever, decides that the only way that she can be with Kev is by healing herself, even if that meant leaving England to do so. We get some flashbacks, which were highly informative about Kev's and Win's past. When they are finally reunited, Kev transforms into an even more miserably boorish hero, than his normal self, as he kisses Win, and rejects her soon after. Even when there is another suitor on the horizon, Kev fails to man up to claim Win. But, as a decent romance should, he eventually figures the error of his ways and shocks us with the most sensational claiming ever written by LK.

Both Win and Kev are surprising in this book. They seem almost above the normal sins of man in the earlier book, but their love scenes are ridiculously sensual and breathtaking. And since they are such opposites, yet mostly reserved, their passion was shockingly sizzling. The only problem for me was that I didn't relate exactly to Win and Kev was not my type. Too broody, though I enjoy the Cam and Leo's teasing toward him. Like during the wedding.

My favorite scene was actually the seemingly demure, Win's, when she threatens to burn down a wardrobe.

"I have a matchbox, Julian," she said. "Tell me what to give Mr. Rohan, or I'll set the wardrobe on fire."
"You wouldn't dare," Harrow cried.
"Win," Leo said, "you'll burn the entire damned house down, just after it's been rebuilt. Give me the bloody matchbox."
She shook her head resolutely.
"Are we starting a new springtime ritual?" Leo demanded. "The annual burning-of-the-manse? Come to your senses, Win."

I didn't realize that she was such a badass, until that moment. Well, that, and when Kev acts all bipolar.

The main reason I like reading this book was because the foreplay between Leo and Miss Marks begins. I love their tension and I can't wait until their book. Leo's heart and body is healing and I know that this book was when I started falling for him.

There is also some extra plot about learning about Cam and Kev's history, which is nice. As well, as the tragically creepy Doctor Harrow.

Overall, it was not the romance that makes this a strong novel, but the further character building which made this such a great read. I love the Hathaways and I'm sure all of you would feel the same.(less)

The Hathaways took him in when he was found badly injured and left for dead, despite him being a Gypsy. They nursed him back to health and treated him with a kindness that was foreign to him. And that is how he met Win. He felt her presence and it drew him to her. He willed her to come into his sickroom, and when she did, he grabbed her and didn't want to let her go. Over the years, not an ounce of his intense, violent love for her changed, even though Merripen did not think he was good enough for her. He was raised by his tribe to be the most ruthless, the most violent fighter. Gentleness was literally beaten out of him. But nothing could take away the love he had for Win.

Win loved Merripen at first sight as well. He was like a wild, beautiful creature that claimed her heart. When she fell ill with scarlet fever, for years she believed she could not possibly have a normal life. Yet the hope of being with Merripen in all the ways a woman can be with a man encouraged her to get her health improved. Two years later, she returns, hoping to get Merripen to see that they belong together. Yet he resists, even though the force of his love makes him want to kill any man that might claim her.

To be honest, Merripen was frustrating me. He was giving out some serious mixed signals. I felt bad for Win, because she decided to move on with her life, but he wouldn't let any man near her. And then he does something that was pretty wrong, in my opinion. I was holding my breath, hoping he'd come through and he didn't. I wanted to get out my shovel to hit him over the head then and there. But Ms. Kleypas allowed me to see the motivations and the anguish inside of Merripen. Why he would push away the thing he wanted/needed most in the whole world. Because he wanted what was best for her. And seeing Merripen's motivations coming out of love allowed me to forgive him.

This book was so beautiful in the intense love between this couple. I wanted to savor the scenes of them interacting, the words exchanged. Merripen might think he is a brute who is unworthy of Win, but his actions always spoke differently. There was no question he would die and go to Hell many times for Win. That kind of love cannot help but appeal to me, being the die-hard romantic that I am.

I liked both characters a lot. Even though some of their actions frustrated me, Merripen moreso. He was really a product of his terrible childhood, but he managed to rise above that, and become a good, productive, caring person (although he didn't see himself that way). Win had a sweetness about her. Her belief in the trueness of the love between her and Merripen was a guiding force. Her sweet, loving nature was a cornerstone in the Hathaway family. One of the things I love about the Hathaway series is how the brother and sisters are all shown to be so unique, and committed to each other, even if they don't always get along. Merripen and Cam fit in so perfectly, like the last two pieces of a puzzle (along with the intriguing Miss Marks, the governess who gets along with Leo Hathaway like cats and dogs. Hmm???? What's going on there??).

As usual, Ms. Kleypas beautifully describes the scenery, the characters, and the settings. The luscious descriptions of everything makes me want to get sucked into the book so I can experience it all first hand. Her love scenes are so intense and descriptive in a way that is very sensual without being vulgar. They are earthy, yet elevated at the same time. You feel the love connection between the characters.

I liked how this story was very much a family story, in addition to being about the relationship between Merripen and Win. The Hathaways are such a fun, interesting family to read about. They seem to take everything in stride, and continue to add more people the fold without any fuss. I'm excited to read about Poppy, Beatrix, and Leo's happy endings. I must say I am overjoyed to see Leo starting to pick up the pieces of his life and moving on with some purpose. I think that Miss Marks will give him something to focus on, along with his renewed interest in architecture. In this story, we get to see the relationship between Leo and Merripen; how Leo is able to help Merripen see that giving up what he wants most in the world might be a foolish move on his part, because love is too precious to waste. If anyone knows what it's like to lose one's love, it's Leo. It was funny how the Hathaways treated Win and Merripen like they were a foregone conclusion, even thought Merripen is slow on the uptake about it.

It was also enjoyable to see the love affair/marriage of Cam and Amelia continue. What a great couple. They have the kind of marriage you wish for. Amelia is a singular woman, who I find strong but gentle at the same time. She's quite the mother hen, taking care of her brood, including husband, brother and sisters, and Merripen, who is like a brother to her. Cam is such an interesting character. I could vividly see him and picture the sometimes outrageous things he would say and think. It's very interesting to see how he and Merripen interact and what the repercussions are of their association.

Once again, I have read another Kleypas that I can easily give five stars. Her writing is always great, but she gets even better with each new book. I admire that she does her research to treat the historical Victorian setting with respect, and managed to weave in the fascinating Romany culture so well in this story. This might be a love story, but it is also a great fiction book with different nuances that make it enjoyable on many levels. But the one aspect that sent me to the moon when I was reading it, was the intense, enduring, burning-hot love between Merripen and Win. You know that fifty years from when this book ends, they will be just as much in love, if not moreso. That's romance to this reader.

3.5/5 stars. As much as it pains me to admit this, mostly because I love Lisa Kleypas as an author, this book was an exercise in frustration for me. I typically can get really involved with a love story where the hero/heroine can't get together, or there is unrequited love. However, I couldn't get past the hero's sheer obstinate behavior in the book. His excuses for not being happy didn't sit well with me. I found it frustrating, and it made me not want to see Kev and Win together. *sigh*

I really enjoyed this book with the cooky Hathaways and who doesn't love not one but two sexy half gypsies. I liked Kev. I liked how tortured yet how in love he was with Win. I liked that Win's brother (who was grief stricken and considered a scoundrel) had to get Kev out of jail and admit to his own demons. It was a very touching scene. Time warp forward two years and Win returns healthy (for the most part) and anxious to hear about Kev who was silent during those years.
