Catch a Mate
Cute, but a little too chick lit for my tastes in spots. Also it takes place in a laughably short amount of time (three or four days, I believe) and that made it very unbelievable that these two had gone from being adversaries to in love forever.
Anyway, the main characters are hilarious and make one of the most sizzling love-hate relationships. Jillian is a very opinionated man-hater, while Marcus is a woman-hater, in the sense that neither trust the opposite sex. Both of them work as 'bai...more
I think my main annoyance with the book is the central couple, i just couldn't see how they could come to a happy ending in such a short space of time, and also the arguing between them is descriped as like thier foreplay which I can totally be on board with, I just didn't think it was particually realistic in this bo...more
Jullian Greene is working in the agency Catch a Mate where lots of women go and choose a girl as bait to test their most likely unfaithful boyfriends. And after working for so long there she has her reasons to believe that men, in general, are pigs. She’s smart, independent and fun and she’s confident i...more
The main characters are engaging with their love you-hate you-kiss me senseless-I'll stab you in your sleep relationship. True that one of the big issues of this book is about their building se...more

If you like your romantic comedy with vicious verbal battles and wicked word wars between the leads, then look no further than Showalter's Catch a Mate. Jillian and Marcus have both been hurt in the past by unfaithful people and they both work in the slightly shady world of disclosure, where they act as bait to lure the spouses and lovers of suspicious wives, husbands, boyfriends, and girlfriends who think their significant other is cheating on them. While their...more
For every chapter, there was a really funny quote. The quotes itself made me pause because I just had to laugh out really loud.
This is the first book of Gena Showalter that I tried outside the Lords of the Underworld series, and I can say that this book is pretty entertaining.
Jillian Greene is "bait". She is working for an agency which captures husbands philandering to show the wives, to prove that men cannot be trusted. Jillian has been working hard a...more
Alcune sono...more

Jillian works for Catch a Mate which is a service women go to basically catch their mate trying to cheat on them. Jillian loves to work there because she is in essence a true man...more
Jillian doesn't trust men. She watched her dad cheat on her mom and then got a job catching cheating husbands and boyfriends. So, when Marcus becomes her partner at work and she can't stop fantasizing about him, she's not sure what to do if she can't trust herself.
I'm having trouble putting my thoughts about this book into words. I found the plot interesting, but I think it's the characters that ruined this book for me. Gena Showalter has a good concept by starting with a company t...more
Okay, so this is my first time reading a contemporary romance from Gena Showalter, I normally read her paranormal stuff. I must say I was really surprised. In a good way. No, in a great way. I loved every minute of this book. I absolutely loved Jillian, but you know how I am about strong, witty, female leads. Even the male lead character was just as strong and witty, making the sexual chemistry off the charts. Nothing like heated arguments and then even more heated love scenes to follow it up wi...more
Gena has done it again. I love that she broke away from paranormal or fairy tale fantasy and wrote this book. It's definitely a book worth reading. The book was really well written and characters really made sense. There are times when authors write something for the character to say that, yeah they are female and thought up that comment but it just doesn't make sense. It's not somethin...more
My only complaint/wish is that Jillian’s brother Brent and Georgia would have gotten their own book. I would have liked to see them with a longer story to their happy ending.
Ame la idea tan original del libro, y
amé completamente a Marcus.
The sparks that fly off of these...more
The synopsis is really catchy, and that made me pick this book. Women working and getting paid to act themselves as bait, and tempt their client's partner to test their loyalty and faithfulness? Wow, that's really interesting! So I decided to read this out of curiosity. Well, it's about two people, Jillian and Marcus, who suffered from betrayals in the past, making their hatred for the oppos...more
Marcus and Jillian both work for companies that use bait(hot men and/or women) to catch cheating mates. This area of work is very personal for Marcus and Jillian for various reasons. Past betrayals have left them with trust issues and a basic intolerance for the other sex. Unfortunately soon they find themselves working together and the sparks and insults begin to fly!
Catch A Mate was such a funny book. I laughed out loud so many times, I lost count. I lo...more

"Audaci fantasie" è il secondo libro di Gena Showalter che riesco a leggere. Lo so lo so, mi chiederete perchè non ho iniziato con "Lords of the Underworld", la sua serie più popolare.
