Wow! I really loved this book. Set in London, England in the year 1822 it was one of my first historical M/M Erotic Romance reads.
Lord Oliver Marsden has decided to take matters into his own hands. Born the second son, he has been often overlooked by the ton and his family, as someone that doesn't have much value or worth. His closest friend, Lord Vincent Prescot, is also the second son, but he comes from a more wealthy family and although more accepted by the ton, he and Oliver have e More...

The chemistry between the heroes literally took my breath away. I thought this book had so many sensual and very sexy moments for a novella. I wish the story had been longer. I really would enjoy reading more about them!

I really liked this book and i don't know why i waited so long to read it.
I'm in love with Oliver_lol.And i liked the confrontation scene at the end (read it 2 times).
I'll wait for the sequel to see how the relationship between the two lords will evolve.

This book is scorching hot. Before I read this book I wasn't that into reading BDSM, but I have to say Oliver and Vincent were most persuasive.

And while the sex scenes are great, there are some really awesome tender moments in the book, subtle little moments when you can clearly see how deeply Vincent and Oliver feel for each other.

I love the fact that it is a Regency book. It's unusal to find a historical m/m book and it is clear that Ms. March knows her period very well More...

Bound by Deception is another book that has been recommended to us by our friends here on Goodreads. Once again, our friends have great tastes in their reading material.
It's a pretty rare to find a historical erotic romance in this genre. It's always interesting to see how things will turn out since homosexual relationships were even more frowned upon than it is today. I thought that Ava's heroes, Oliver and Vincent, are both interesting and very much a product of their time. The che More...

A fabulous romp through history. As someone who normally doesn't go for historical romance books, I was surprised by how much I liked this novella. The intimate scenes between the characters were smokin hot and the angst was delicious. I wish I'd read it sooner.

I really liked this book even though I wish there had been a bit more affection for Oliver from Vincent. I know Ms. March is coming out with a sequel though so hopefully Vincent will be more in love with Oliver by then.

Ava March has created some wonderful characters here. I found Oliver to be sweet, and he had enough courage to go execute his plan. I thought maybe Vincent was going to need a slap up the side of the head at one point, but I'm glad he came round on his own - LOL. Definitely need to read the sequel, Bound to Him.

Verrrrry hot story, with likable characters and interesting story. The final confrontation between Oliver and Vincent was well written, emotionally tugging and made me root for a nice HEA. Alas, I had to content myself with a HFN, which was actually fine considering the length of the story and the fact that there's a sequel where, I hope, they'll finally find their HEA.

Now, most of the sexual content (BDSM) of this story is out of my comfort zone and I admit I skimmed through some pa More...

I debated for awhile before I bought this one, but I’m so glad I did! It wasn’t what I expected at all! I was afraid that the BDSM elements would overpower the story, or that the scenes wouldn’t be written well enough to make them seem natural to the plot or the characters. I was pleasantly surprised when both of my worries turned out to be unfounded! The writing was very tight and descriptive. Even though the story topped out at a mere 96 pages, no words were wasted.

First of all: I loved this book, I can't begin to say how much.

I really liked:

* The setting, London 1822. For me the historical setting gives this book an exotic taste. Candle light, a lot of clothes to get rid of, it was great for my imagination.

* The characters. Oliver and Vincent are amazing, they are so good together! I loved Oliver and his feelings felt so real that my heart ached for him, his pain, his desperation.

* The BDSM element. I usuall More...

Bound by Deception was an unlucky book in my reading list, it slipped day by day till the day I almost forgot I had it, and now that I read it, thanks to the release of a sequel, I'd like to knock myself on the head for allowing so. I knew that I would have liked it, I loved another book by Ava March, an Erotic Regency as this one, so why I waited so much? Mystery of my strange mind...

Anyway, Ava March, in this second book, but really her first book, confirms my previous idea of her More...

Very good kinky Regency m/m romance about a minor aristocrat who's been in love with one of his well-to-do friends for years, but only recently realized that his friend was also gay. Will his deceptive scheme to take the place of his friend's usual whore, while remaining anonymous, ultimately backfire?

I loved the idea of the deception (and Madame Delacroix’ brothel is one of my favorite locations in Ava March’s novellas). I liked Oliver, self-described as average. But I just couldn’t see how Vincent wouldn’t recognise who his new whore Jake really was. From that point I couldn’t get into the story. Then the D/s play felt a little cartoonish (instant pleasure from the kiss of the bullwhip on the head of the cock of a novice? etc). Other details didn’t work for me (“if only the plug were a litt More...

It's not a review, but a rumor says the book is translated&published soon in Japan. I don't know what kind of readers the publisher is aiming for when we Japanese BL fans are loaded with tons of BL novels and mangas all the time.

When I pick up a book to read, I usually refer to the word of mouth at amazon and goodreads and the book is fairly well scored. After reading some comments, I was expecting to read a hot & anguish filled story. But it seems I was hoping too much for this one More...

Rather more a longish short story than a novella, despite it being about 80 pages long, this is definitely an erotic story, so those looking for a very VERY hot ride will like this a lot. It certainly made me warm in places that make me happy!

As the blurb suggests, Lord Oliver uses a ruse to get his friend Lord Vincent (more on the lords later) to shag him, and relies on the Lois Lane Blindspot™ which involves a dodgy accent, a dimly lit room and the removal of his spectacles to get More...

Not a bad read at all. It was very descriptive given the length. The characters developed fairly well. I wish it could have been a full length book because I believe that would have made it.

The things I liked - something just a touch different, nice characters, nice little M/M erotica, a nice BDSM (light)themed period piece.

The things I didn't really like - the short story didn't fully flesh out the characters, more was required to get into their evolving desires, the su More...

Well, I DO like the cuteness of this one, and that's where the 4 stars came from. It left me giddy and giggling like a schoolgirl. It's also rather rare that I read a book without skimming once. This book kept me hooked on every word, and I didn't skip even the BDSM scene (which I normally go "@_@!!!" with)!

It's just a bit too short, but the pacing is good. However, I still wasn't completely convinced that Vincent fell for Oliver. I mean, one night having sex and suddenly Vin More...

Best Gay Historical Romance?

I bought this book because it was voted as the Best Gay Historical novel on the GoodReads gay book list.
Historical - not so much, unless you count some historical dates, old costumes and carriages as definition as historical. This book is more like a modern fluffy fairly tale doing a costume party.

The historical part aside, Bound by Deception is a fairly enjoyable and fluently written romance story with nice, but predictable characters. Some More...

Historical romance which is also erotic and BDSM is usually not big win for me. This one, however is just quite delightful. Oliver and Vincent are so perfectly matched. I liked both character. I liked how they were friends and now become lovers. Their story is quite sweet. I would give this a 3.5 star. The reason why is because the story is so bloody short. It moved super fast and the sex scenes were hot. I enjoyed Vincent's dominance. Oliver is no pussy but he is definitely a sweet su More...

Two lovers, concealed passion...
...heartbreaking couple

About the two main characters
Lord Oliver Marsden is deeply in love with his childhood friend,Lord Vincent Prescot. It's 1822, and we are talking about London as background... of course it's not possible to him declare his love and propose in the middle of the street (while witness applaud crying)... nope. Was a crime (sodomy) and was punished by hanging.
Oliver find one way to have just one time with Vincent. Pr More...

I loved this book. It was sweet and heartbreaking at the same time.

You'll fall in love with Oliver, who's a man easily overlooked, because of his desire to have just one night with the person he's always loved. Vincent, who's prim and proper, needs to dominate and feels that what he does to the men at the brothel is more for them then it is for himself.

When Oliver replaces the usual whore Vincent uses, Vincent gets a swift slap in the face (metaphorically speaking) and ha More...

Before reading Bound by Deception, I'd read only one other of Ava March's books. That one was Convincing Arthur and I was totally and completely hooked. I've only read these two so far -- well no, I've now finished Bound to Him, a sequel to Bound by Deception (love it by the way!) -- but I've got the rest of her books sitting in my TBR. Ava writes sensual and very sexy historical romances set in the Regency period. Of course I love them; I'm a fan of Regency romances but add to them hot man-on- More...

Set in Regency England, Bound by Deception is an engrossing, titillating read. The two main characters have amazing chemistry and the sex between them is incredibly hot, only to be elevated even more as the depth of emotion between the men is brought into the bedroom.

This was bull eye of hitting good thing in the sea of homoerotica. There are several reasons why 1. two handsome men in the historical setting, 2. sex with hint of BDSM, 3. plot there is a plot and it does not affect the whole book, 4. it was funny kind of plot, 5. the book was short but thick with action, 6. I learn new English word - ballock.

The introduction of Lord Oliver and his intended deception towards Lord Vincent made me smile. I liked the writing and swift paced dialog between Oliver and the Madam at the beginning of the story. Lord Oliver and Lord Vincent were of two different classes in society, their friendship was untouched by snobbery. Growing up together established their relationship, so the physical aspect felt genuine. I always am more accepting of erotica with a bit of romance. The first scene of Oliver as "J More...
