This is a must have if you do a lot of writing in APA format. This book answers every question one might have about writing in APA. It also give numerous examples. Great book!

Not a book you can really like or dislike. If you need to know APA it is a required read, if you don't ... it is the sure cure for insomnia :)

I frequently accessed this manual while writing my psychology dissertation. Sections are clearly marked and examples are explained.

I am thoroughly attached to this book after getting my masters. It took me years to figure out how to write the perfect paper using APA format. The humiliation of getting papers back with heavy handed red sharpie marker asking " Do you own the APA book?"...well take that you fat ass J.L., former teacher of mine..I AM Published!@!!! In fact it still sits on my bookshelf dogeared and underlined...Ahhh, memories. A must for all you Bachelors and Masters of Sciences students. P.S, J.L. I sa...more

okay, i admit it, this is hardly the sort of book that deserves inclusion on Goodreads. However, I rate it only insofar as I feel that APA style is the most perplexing, irritating, and down-right ugly style out there. Give me Turabian or Chicago any day. APA, despite its prevalence, makes for some of the most aesthetically unpleasing writing that could possibly be prescribed.

This book is great if you are writing a medical paper. Unfortunately, my school asked us to use this for writing guidelines for our papers. It is poorly arranged and difficult (at best) to figure out which situations are best for a specific type of footnote (for example). I found online footnote tools that make life so much easier and don't require using this book.

You know there's a problem when the APA had to write a manual about how to use their publication manual, and when there are a bunch of websites out there explaining the manual. This manual sucks, but, unfortunately, a necessary evil if one wants to finish grad. school and continue publishing. So, on my shelf it shall remain...

What can I say? I'm a Psychology major and life wouldn't be easier if this manual was not around. It certainly helped to the least with APA formatting. This manual is like a bible if you are doing a thesis in Psychology. BUT, I gave only two stars because I think it could have been improved to be more user-friendly.

i hate this book, it was required reading in graduate school and we were forced to use this manual as our guide for anything under the sun from proper usage of citations to bibliographies etc. it's horribly boring but it did make life easier at 3am when i was trying to get that last minute research paper done...

I used this piecemeal for years but never actually read it cover to cover. Since I'm finally writing my thesis, I thought it was time. Sometimes, you take for granted that you already know how to write but you don't. This should make the revision process much less painful if I read it at the outset.

This book is a must have for all behavioral science majors and other majors that use APA Style. I highly recommend also purchasing the PDF of the APA Guide to Electronic References as an additional reference to Style until the new edition is released. Concise Rules is great for the backback too.

APA Style is what's expected of me in my work so it's what I use (and now anything else is utterly foreign plus a huge giant pain to switch over to). So, this is my guide. A huge snoozefest, yes, but a necessary evil must still have guidelines...

A standard reference used far more widely than the title implies, this is a handy guide to all the nitpicking format questions that come up in a lot of academic and professional writing situations. A tool every writer should have on the shelf.
