This a read-aloud book for children. It teaches children to put the needs of others before ourselves, and in this case, the others referred to are the central character's pets (animals). Her donkey, goat, and dog have been faithful to her and have provided her with transportation, milk, and protection. Something she recognizes and appreciates. When she is given three blankets, one at a time, by each of her three children to warm her in her "cracky house", she in turn gives them to each of her ...more
