Very much like Kate Morton's books -- a flowing journey through time and space where you meet characters again and again at various points in their lives. The characters are so real its hard to believe they are figments of Katherine Freeman's imagination. I love her character development during this novel! So many people grow and change -- again, hard to believe she created them all.

I have mixed feelings about this book. It is a very long and involved story and I almost gave it away a couple of times but I persevered because I wanted to see how the author, who is very talented, would draw all the pieces together in the end.
It is a tale of two women, alike but different, and how their lives intertwine. Angela is a pop singer and Ellie is a soprano with a passionate love of opera. When Angela suffers an accident with a blow to the head and loses her memory, she disappears and...more

Duet by Kimberly Freeman is a book I have mixed feelings about. I finished the book last week, but am still unsure how to review it. Reading a novel is either an emotional experience or an intellectual one; Duet left me with neither. It is an intricate and complex story, albeit somewhat unbelievable, told by a talented story-teller. It was a long novel and I almost stopped reading it three times because it felt slow and I struggled to see the ‘road-map’. But I muddled through because I wanted to...more

I did love it, despite some misgivings about element of it (forty years' worth of amnesia? Really?). I'm a sucker for stories that span years and bring together two seemingly unrelated story lines. You know of course they are related in some way but discovering how that unfolds is great fun. This wasn't the best example I've read of this kind of story, but it kept me riding along very happily. I achieved nothing at work this morning while I listened to the final few chapters.

I adored this book. Have stayed up very late two nights in a row to finish it. Such a compelling read. This book has it all, secrets, lies, greed and mystery. I just HAD to keep reading. I was not savvy enough to pick up the ending and was surprised and how clever it was
The story is based on the lives of two women with a talent and their relationship with a talent agent. We are shuffled all over the world and jump from one decade to another to piece it all together.

Go for it.

I really enjoyed listening to this audio book. This author has been compared to Kate Morton (with whom she is also friends) and I can see why. Kimberley Freeman has interweve plots and character storylines together seamlessly with a story than spans decades. There were pieces that came together at the end that I did not see coming but made complete sense! Frequently with audio books I have slight problems with my mind wandering, however I did not have that problem with this story. I looked forwa...more

This is a great read. It has a clever, intriguing plot, interesting characters and great settings. It does start slowly, but that's part of the pleasure of this book - to savour the gradual reveal of a plot that becomes so full of intrigue, it's worth the wait.

I really enjoyed this book. It had some good twists that I couldn't figure out until they spelled it out for me. However, when they did wrap up how the two women were connected, it was almost too far fetched for me. Overall, a good read that kept me guessing until the end.

An enjoyable story about refusal to explore how the past influences life. Loved the travel destinations and like my own writng covers the span of many years. I wasn't too keen on the ending.

This book took a little while to get going, but I adore the author from reading Wildflower Hill and trusted that if I kept reading, it would be worth the effort. It was. As more and more mysteries and intriguing characters were added, I became much more engrossed in the book, and it had a kick-ass ending. If you read and enjoyed Wildflower Hill, I think you'll still enjoy this, but probably not quite as much. And if you enjoyed this book and haven't checked out Wildflower Hill yet, definitely do...more

Listened to this audio book. Seemingly two unrelated storylines that tie together until the end.

Loved it. The story twists and turns and I didn't see it coming.
Leslie Hutchings
My least favorite of the three but still very good
Kate Forsyth
a compelling family saga - a great fun read
Margaret
I enjoy this book for a light read.

This was a great story about two girls, both singers, over a 20 year history. Not too predictable, and the story built nicely up to the big climax without being too predictable. I agree it's like Paullina Simons - but without the endless sex scenes.

Enjoyed Lighthouse Bay more than Duet. Good story but I didn't develop a love for any of the main characters.

This was a very enjoyable book. The story wove together nicely. A nice, interesting, easy read.

This was a really good book with interesting characters. My biggest criticism is that there were parts of the plot that was just too convenient. Aside from that, a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Whoa, this was long... 17 CDs. Well read, as always by Caroline Lee. Quite a big story, spanning decades across England, Germany, Greece and Australia. Nice twists and definitely engaging as far as epic novels go. Would give it 3.5 stars if I could, not quite 4 for me.

2.5 stars. Not my most favorite book by Kimberley Freeman. It was soooo slow the first third of the book that I had a very hard time getting in to it. I almost never finished it, I was that frustrated with it. It finally picked up, but only near the end.

I actually listened to this book. The narrator is excellent and made me feel like a little girl being read to. She is very much like Kate Morton whom I love.
Colleen
Not great, I picked it up thinking it would be a light read after a few heavy going reads, and I just could not get into it. It took forever to finish. The last chapter was the best!

I enjoyed reading this book. I felt that I was able to connect with the characters and therefore be immersed in the story. I enjoyed the many twists along the way.
