I love when poetry uses metaphors that haunt my mind for days after my initial reading. This book of translated poetry still grips me years after I read it. I was so taken by the following passage that I had no choice but to put it on the back cover: "America is what is born / From our dreams without our knowing / America is what happens to us / On the way to India." Like good ol' Columbus, we've all set sail in pursuit of a dream, only to discover something unexpected along the way.
