Charlene (Charlie) moves to Magnolia Street and makes friends with a boy called Billy. The book is about the games they play, and so forth.

I wish Charlie's relationship with her brother Sid was better. They are rude to each, never nice. At the end of the book, Charlie jokes that he is not her real brother.
