I was late coming to the Elvis Costello 'party,' hearing his brilliant second shot at country when I was in high school and dismissing him outright but then picking up Spike unheard when it came out based on the interesting reviews it got. As a late-comer, I was eager to find out as much as I could about the man and his music; part of that curiosity put this book in my hands years ago, and I'm only now getting around to reading it.

I read this when I was 19 or 20, right about the time I was becoming totally hooked on Elvis Costello. I read several books about him so I can't recall clearly what was in this one, but if you're an Costello freak and like to read about the musicians you like I'm sure it will hold at least a page or two of interest.
What a fucking asshole. An incredibly smart, beautiful songwriting asshole. I really like Elvis Costello.
