I've almost finished this book before I realised that I've read one of the author's stories before. (He did say in the introducing remarks that 'Burning Bridges' is one of his more popular stories.) It was in an anthology of Sci-fi/Fantasy Erotica edited by Cecilia Tan, and I might have ignored his story for another one that featured a boy training to be a perfect submissive. :P

This past week, I had the pleasure of reading through Lawrence Schimel’s The Drag Queen of Elfland, a collection of gay fantasy/sci-fi short stories originally published in 1997 by Circlet Press and slated for ebook publication in the next month. The stories are brief but thoughtful forays into genre fiction with gay protagonists, something I would’ve loved to have seen more of when I used to read lots of science fiction.

A fantastic collection!
Lawrence Schimel is one of my favorite authors because he consistently impresses me, and this collection of fantastical queer stories he once again does what he does best.

It's been a bit since I read the book, but I definitely want to buy a copy or run out to the library to refresh myse...more
