I like most horse books, but I was a bit disappointed in this, considering that his father wrote the great Black Stallion series, and the series is purporting to be in that tradition. Like if the Saddle Club books were slapped with a name like Black Beauty or My Friend Flicka or National Velvet or Misty of Chincoteague. It just doesn't match up.

It was overall a good book. It was a bit twaddley and more for upper elementary than a 9th grader, but still a good book.
