Shelves: history
super intéressant, même si très ardu (ne se lit pas en une fois). L'auteur passe en revue les procès intentés aux animaux, la mythologie du bois et des arbres, l'approche vis à vis des couleurs (tout mélange étant considéré comme un façon de cacher la réalité), et bien d'autres aspects très étonnants.
Un ouvrage très instructif.

Livre excellent d'un autre adepte de l'anthropologie médiévale et de l'Histoire totale. Permet de jeter un oeil nouveau, éclairant et insoupçonné sur le Moyen Age. Un seul exemple: le procès de la truie de Falaise. Sidérant.

Erudito, affascinante, stimolante.
In particolare segnalo i saggi sul significato dei colori nella civiltà medievale: al di là della vivace ricostruzione di un mondo diverso e dei suoi modi di pensare, ho trovato particolarmente chiare e chiarificatrici le riflessioni sul modo corretto di studiare un fenomeno così sfuggente e soggettivo come il colore.

Pastoureau was born in Paris on 17 June 1947. He studied at the École Nationale des Chartes, a college for prospective archivists and librarians. After writing his 1972 thesis about heraldic bestiaries in the Middle Ages, he worked in the coins, medals and antiquities department of the French National Library until 1982.
