Scandinavian crime novels and police procedural novels have been so successful internationally in recent years that in the Payot bookshop in Geneva I ran across a paperback publisher who emblazoned all offerings with the legend "This is NOT a Scandinavian police novel!" The novels were from writers across the globe, including from Argentina, China and Iran.

Recommends it for: Tous ceux qui s'intéressent au Japon
S'il est une chose à savoir sur moi, c'est que je n'aime pas particulièrement ce format et pourtant j'ai vraiment bien accroché à IWGP, à tel point que j'ai décidé trois ans plus tard de relire ce recueil de nouvelles et de finir la série.

À l'époque, j'avais une certaine fascination pour le Japon, fascination qui s'est ravivée lorsque j'ai lu IWGP.

Ira Ishida is a Japanese novelist, actor, and TV commentator.

After graduating from Seikei University, he worked for a number of different advertising production companies and as a freelance copywriter. In 1997, he published his first novel, Ikebukuro West Gate Park, which won the 36th All Yomimono New Mystery Writer's Prize. In 2003, he won the Naoki Prize for 4-Teen.
