Lenore: Cooties! (Lenore #3)
by
Roman Dirge
Part humor, part pathos, Lenore is a combination of cuteness and creepiness that we're sure you'll find appealing. Lenore tackles everyday life with a perverted innocence that makes you want to give her a big hug - then stand back to make sure that you still have everything attached.

Lots of things are revealed in this book- Ragamuffin's feelings for Lenore, his and Ouchie Boo Boo's true forms, Mr. Gosh's rotting corpse-face, and more.
This is, by far, the funniest book I have ever read, although I despise the extra entitled "Pop Goes the Weasel", in which the weasel LITERALLY pops-three times-and there is a disturbing scene where the monkey attempts to fix the monkey and it pops again. It was.... disgustingly terrifying, to say the least. However, the actual story makes up f...more

Okay, I admit I haven't read the first two volumes (or first eight issues) of the exploits of Lenore (and I'm honestly wondering why I haven't) but I still absolutely loved this collection. Lenore is brilliantly witty (frequently without realising it) while her ever suffering Ragamuffin is superbly dry in his approach to life (or should that be death?), not to mention the lovestruck suffering of Mr Gosh. And that's not to mention Roman's adventures involving me (him) and the extra little bonuses...more
What I learned from this book: Little dead girls can be very witty, and vampires trapped in stuffed animals are quite attractive when they are finally released from their furry little bodies. ha!
really though-- i liked the one volume i read-- which was # 11. Al, from Al's Comics in SF recommended this to me since I liked Johnny the Homicidal Maniac so much, and yup, he was right, I really enjoyed Lenore. I'm gonna go find some more. I still remember my first time reading this volume. When I got to the strip about the life of the walking leaf insect I laughed so hard I got a case of the hiccups that lasted 8 hours while I was at work. By the end of my day my throat was so raw that each additional hiccup caused severe pain and made me completely miserable. Naturally this is a great testament to the hilarity of this brilliant comic.
Love it. I thought this was the first one but it turns out the third one. I've been assured that the order is really not that important. It's cute and gory and funny as hell at times. I really like how he adds in true stories about his life too in the "Things Involving Me" sections.
Reminds me of Invader Zim just not as frantic and more weird.
Can't wait to read the others.

First Line: "Kids are playing."
Dirge has created another darkly humorous and enjoyable read. Lenore has grown as a character quite a bit through all three volumes and the story begins to take on a more cohesive flow. The first volumes were mostly disjointed short segments with similar characters. Now, however, the vignettes bring in references to past stories which I am enjoying. This is the most recently published the Lenore stories, but I surely hope there is more to come.

This is the first thing by Roman Dirge that I've read, and I really liked it. It was very funny and the art was wonderful. I really loved the macabre humor of the stories with Lenore, and the short interludes of stories from the author's life were funny too. I'll have to check out the rest of his work.
Roman Dirge, Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl: Cooties (SLG Publishing, 2006)
Really, the only thing I can say about Cooties is "even funnier than Noogies." But I have to fill up a paragraph somehow, so I'll praise Dirge's continuing to experiment with longer storylines (in fact, Cooties is one storyline to itself, except for the extra bits you find in any ish of Lenore-- one of which is truly side-splittingly funny. I had to stuff my intestines back in) and the fantastic new character who pops...more

This is the weirdest, sickest graphic novel I've read in a while. I hope the library has the earlier books.
This was my first time reading Lenore and first time I'd really seen anything by Roman Dirge. I'm definitely converted into a Dirge fangirl! At first, when my 13 year old cousin let me borrow this off her, I thought it was going to be for pre-teen girls. I was definitely not expecting the crude humour and blatant violence. I wad literally laughing out loud all the way through and insisted on reading a lot of the panels out to my sister. I can't wait to read more!

Definitely funny and packed with great characters, but I feel like I would have appreciated Lenore a lot more if I had read this back in high school.
Dirge's short autobiographical comics are hilarious--I would love to read a collection of just those.

Had already read the Lenore comics what seemed like a million years ago but my excellent boyfriend bought me this as a stocking stuffer last Christmas. It was totally worth it for the extras which include drawings by other artists, two special Lenore Meets Deady comics, fun character drawings, and Lenore #12 in color! ^_^ Lenore is just so cute and hilarious, if you like comics check out some Lenore, The Cute Little Dead Girl.
