In a town full of superheroes--literally--O.B. (short for “Ordinary Boy”, since he is the only person in town without some sort of superpower) displays plenty of brain power as he, his friends, and his personal hero, The Amazing Indestructo, work to uncover the evil Professor Brain Drain’s plot to destroy the city. Everything about this novel is appealing, from the gray-scale cartoon illustrations to the action- and humor-packed plot. The tantalizing opportunity to look inside a town full...more

This book is about a group of young heroes who live in a place were they fit in perfectly, a city of heroes. They live ordinary lives, at least for a hero, all except one. He doesn't have a super power! When an evil villain threatens to take over the hero's haven, the band of young heroes is all that stands in his way.

I read this because Ezra is LOVING it and I thought it was great. It's well written and the story was great from my perspective (good, moral kid with a good relationship with his parents who aren't stupid, good messages about doing well in school and consumerism for good measure) while, at the same time, being good from Ezra's perspective (full of action/adventure and fart jokes). Apart from the classic kid books (Dahl, etc.) I haven't been this impressed for a long time.

Very fun and clever superhero book for kids. The kids really loved this book. Ordinary Boy lives in a town where he is the only one without superpowers, except that he happens to be quite smart. The writing is witty and we liked the illustrations. We'll definately be reading more in this series.

Good book. I enjoyed the humor. I started reading it out loud to my oldest kids, but it lost some of the humor. It is much better to just read to yourself. Then you can make up how the characters sound. I never sound as good out loud as I do in my mind.

A very creative twist on the superhero genre. It is about a boy who has no powers living in a city where everyone else has super powers. Lots of fun. Also shows that brains are more important than other powers.

If I were in a superhero world, I would probably be like an ordinary boy. This book is, well, extraordinary! I love how it's like a comic book, but in a chapter book form.

Amazing! William Boniface comes up with unique superhero names, not just names ending in -boy, -man, -woman, etc. Twisting and turning plot keeps you reading until the end!

The beginning of a good series. Ordinary Boy is smarter than almost everyone else in his town, but he is surprisingly humble about it.
