Introduction: In Doreen Cronin’s Dooby Dooby Moo, she tells another silly story about the animals on Farmer Brown’s farm. They are always getting into some sort of mischief which leads Farmer Brown to keep a very close eye on them, especially this time.

I chose to listen to the recorded book “Dooby Dooby Moo” by Doreen Cronin and narrated by Randy Travis. The story is about a group of farm animals that decide to enter a talent contest at the county fair to win a trampoline.
Based on the criteria of the Odyssey Award, “Dooby Dooby Moo” has effective narration. Randy Travis, the narrator, does a great job convincing the listener with his tone and voice as he narrates. His voice quality is extremely clear and has a southern accent which is fitting...more

Famer Brown keeps a very close eye on his animals. Every night he listens as the cows, sheep, pigs, and the mischievous Duck snore. Duck finds an ad for a talent show at the county fair. First prize is a trampoline, only slightly used. So he gets all the animals to rehearse right under Farmer Brown’s nose. At the talent show, the cows and sheep sing, the pigs sleep through their interpretive dance, and Duck wows the crowd with his rendition of “Born to Be Wild.” That night when Farmer Brown list...more

Dooby Dooby Moo tells the story of a group of animals who are extremely strong minded. They decide to enter a talent contest because the grand prize is a trampoline, but they must face Farmer Brown first. The illustrations really help the reader connect to the animals and the comedy of the book, and also give children the intellectual picture of the animals having a good time.

I can relate to this book because when I was younger I used to work on a farm, and all the wild things the animals use to...more

Dooby Dooby Moo by Doreen Cronin and illustrated by Betsy Lewin is a fun, silly story about Farmer Brown (of Click Clack Moo: Cows that Type) and his scheming animals. The farm animals want to win a talent show so the cows and sheep plan to sing while the pigs plan an interpretive dance. Farmer Brown can tell the animals are up to something so he doesn’t leave them alone and goes as far as taking them to the fair with him. As it turns out, this was exactly what the animals needed to happen. In t...more

Poor Farmer Brown can't keep his animals in line. He knows that they're planning something when his morning newspaper is mysteriously cut up but the farm animals don't seem to be doing anything out of the ordinary. He hears the standard sounds from the barn each night and he tries his best to discover what they're up to. The animals have a plan of they're own--this year, they're going to win the talent show at the fair and wow the judges with their fine singing skills. Kids will enjoy the charac...more

It isn't often that a sequel to a popular children's book ("Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type") is as good as the first, if not better. However, "Dooby Dooby Moo" may just be the rare exception!

The animals on the farm have just learned that the local fair is hosting a talent show, and everyone is eager to take to the stage to perform. The grand prize this year is a brand new trampoline, and the cows, pigs, and sheep are all in on the action. Farmer Brown soon becomes suspicious of their antics whe...more

Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin wrote another great book with the farm animals. Dooby Dooby Moo is about the animals wanting to enter the fair's talent show to try to win the trampoline. Duck is helping the cows, sheep, and pigs work on their performances. Farmer Brown is keeping an eye on the animals but can not figure out what they are doing. He does not want to leave the animals at home because he is worried about them so he bring them to the fair (just where they wanted to go in the first plac...more

Farmer Brown is suspicious. His animals are up to something, but you'll never guess what. This book is tons of fun to read and the kids will be rolling on the floor laughing at the end. You might need to explain it a little to the younger listener (under 5), but they'll still love to sing along when you read, "Dooby, dooby, dooby moo. Dooby moo moo moo moo moo" to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star!

I had never read anything by Doreen Cronin before, but this book definitely makes me want t...more

A rather limp offering from the author behind Click, Clack, Moo. Dooby contains none of creativity or wit Click, Clack did. Cronin revisits Farmer Brown and his fantasy farm—this time the animals are practicing their scales to enter a talent show. The results are spectacularly dull and uninspired.

Despite the title, Dooby Dooby Moo unfortunately not a story about cows smoking joints.

The County Fair is coming, and the grand prize in the talent competition is a trampoline that each animal in the farm wants so bad. Duck wants the prize, but with Farmer Brown watching around every corner, he has no idea how to hold singing and dancing practice for the other animals. This is a very cute story that would be very engaging for young readers. K-3rd graders would probably enjoy this story most.

Dooby Dooby Moo is a book that belongs to a long fun series that everyone will love. In this particular book the farm animals want to compete in the county fair's talent show. They do everything they can to trick Farmer Brown and make sure that they go to the fair. To find out what talents they have and if they win or not you just have to read the book. It is really fun to read and will have you laughing.
Lisa
I like this companion book to 'Click Clack Moo: Cows that type', as a fun way to extend the antics of the barnyard animals and Farmer Brown. Here, we get to meet the other animals more in-depth as they prepare for a talent show at the county fair. My students loved the twist at the end where duck saves the day yet again. Children and adults will be entertained with the illustrations and humor.

I didn't love this quite as much as the launch of this series, or Giggle Giggle Quack, but I still dig it.

The "Farmer Brown" series, with the menagerie of barnyard animals, is a treat. Maybe I simply share a similar sense of humor with the author, because I find myself frequently laughing out loud. These are favorites in out family.

One of the best modern children book authors.

Recommend.

I loved in this one the cows are in a talent show this time. This is a very cute book that the kids loved the illustrations in. The kids loved reading with me the "Dooby dooby moo" well it was more like singing it but we all had fun and had some great laughs with this book. I'm glad I bought these books for my classroom!

I'm just not sure about this book. I think it might be for slightly older kids than Click Clack Moo and Giggle Giggle Quack. I don't enjoy it quite as much as either of those books and my parents seem to have a harder time reading this one (they have lots of trouble with the cow mooing to twinkle twinkle little star). Still fun, just not as much fun as the other books.

Typical farm animals living on Farmer Brown’s farm show the county fair how to really do a talent show. Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin wrote a fantasy story about personified animals singing and doing an interpretive dance at the annual county fair. This is a cute story for young readers to discuss fantasy vs. reality but it lacks excitement.

Another adventure with Farmer Brown and his animals, including Duck, the cows, sheep, and pigs. This time, the animals plot to enter a talent show at the County Fair where the first prize is a trampoline!

Sly humor and charming illustrations. Great fun. Another winner from Doreen Cronin.

Read in Austin from Logan's library.

How fun when the farm animals prepare themselves for the county fair's talent show while keeping it a secret from Farmer Brown.

An all-around terrific read and book! A book filled with wonderful illustrations along with a most enjoyable storyline. Truly a delightful, clever and colorful collaboration of both author and illustrator!
Marek
The animals on the farm read about the talent contest at the county fair and spend their time practicing. The farmer knows they're up to something; he just doesn't know what. So the night of the fair, he takes them all with him so he can keep his eye on them. Little does he know that was all part of their big scheme.

Duck's got Farmer Brown's animals preparing for the county fair talent show. First up? Dooby, Dooby Moo followed by Fa la la la baa"

If you liked the others, you'll like this one. Word of warning: I've had "dooby, dooby moo" pop into my head at least fifteen times in the past few days. There are worst things.

A cute story!
Who doesn't love the Duck and his barnyard friends?
It's a fun journey to the talent show and back.
And I love the prize they end of getting.

A lot of fun noises for kids to read along with,
and great illustrations again.

Love the lively and loose style of the illustrations especially.
Haley Hamilton
Good for imagination and onomatopoeia. I loved the humor of the animals putting on a show. It also could be used to show how to read an advertisement in the newspaper. Students could create a class talent show and have to make their own newspaper article about it. Have other teachers come in to judge.
Beth
Farmer Brown knows that the animals are up to something, but isn't sure exactly what. They perform at the fair. Cows take up "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." The sheep sing "Home on the Range."The interpretive dance by the pigs did not go over well. The biggest hit was ducks version of "Born to be Wild."

Doreen Cronin was a practicing attorney in Manhattan when her first book Click, Clack Moo: Cows That Type became a publishing success. But her book was not published overnight, in fact, she had written this barnyard tale even before attending law school but only received rejection letters from publishers. Five years after submitting the original manuscript she got a call from a publisher who want...more
