Following the wacky stories of Weezy and BeBe has been loads of fun for me, so I didn't hesitate to pick this one up when I saw it on sale. Who wouldn't pass up a good Christmas story this time of year?

It started off with a bang - Weezy attempts to win a window decorating contest for her antique shop in the historic district of downtown Savannah, but her Christmas decorations come up missing the night before the judging takes place. She suspects the gay couple down the street of sab...more

I normally really, really enjoy Mary Kay Andrews' books, but this one didn't live up to par. I enjoyed her other two books about Weezie & BeBe--the characters & story lines were strong and compelling. However, I felt that this story fell flat. The characters seemed one-dimensional, the story was silly, to say the least, and it didn't live up to the Savannah Blues/Savannah Breeze series. I read it because I like the characters and I like Mary Kay Andrews, but it was nothing special.

This is the third in the “Savannah” books and was a thoroughly enjoyable read. It brings back Weezy and her crazy family, Weezy’s boyfriend Daniel, and introduces his crazy family, and of course, BeBe is back as well, along with Jethro, the dog, and new characters, Manny and Cookie.

The story revolves around a Christmas decorating contest that Weezy is determined to win. At the same time, she’s planning a Christmas dinner that will introduce her family to Daniel’s family for the fir...more

Sort of a throw-away story from Mary Kay Andrews. Not as funny as her longer novels, and there's not enough interest in the thin 'mystery'. It was better than a kick in the teeth, but disappointing.

Only disappointing because I expect a lot after how I enjoyed Hissy Fit and Savannah Blues.

This is a Weezie & BeBe story, I have read Savannah Breeze and this one takes place after that story. Weezie wants to win the town’s Christmas decorating contest but she has some stiff competition when a great idea for her window display a Blue Christmas theme which was really fun. Between the stress of the contest, her rivalry with the new shop down the street and her boyfriend Daniel’s dislike of Christmas and the fact that someone has been sleeping in her window display.

This is a light and easy read for the holidays. Join Weezie Foley (short for Eloise) as she gets ready for the holiday season in Savannah. She owns an antiques shop, Maisie’s Daisy, and is busy decorating her store to win the award for Best Decorated in the historic district although she does have some stiff competition from her new neighbors. Strange things also start happening, at her store and her house, things disappear and then reappear. Weezie’s boyfriend Daniel HATES the holidays and ...more

Maybe more of a 3.5 stars, although that may have been more of the audiobook production. The characters were all so exaggerated as to take away from the rather enjoyable story, at least at first.

By the end, I really enjoyed Weezie, and was OK with her boyfriend, her best friend, and the mysterious homeless woman that catches Weezie's attention. I never was entirely comfortable with the portrayal of the gay couple that own the competing store across the square, and Daniel's family w...more

I enjoyed this book a lot more than the two previous holiday books I read. I attribute this primarily to the fact that the "cheese factor" was considerably less than in the two previous books. My complaint with this one was that there wasn't really much of a plot. The characters were good; I really like Weezy, her best friend, BeBe, and her boyfriend, Danny, but there wasn't much going on. She competes with her rivals in a Christmas decorating contest, and then has to discover the ...more

Occasionally I am embarrassed by the amount of YA Lit that I read ... and then I read something like this and am reminded that most adult Fiction is not much better. Whew!

I decided to get this because I needed some brain candy during a particularly stressful week, while I was having a tough time getting into the Christmas spirit. So I gave the book 2 stars because it totally fulfilled its purpose. The characters were occasionally adorable (such as the whimsical Bebe), but they were mo...more

I wanted to punch the main character in the nose. Or at least shake her really hard and tell her what an idiot she is. A person breaks into your vehicle and steals things. Then breaks into your house and steals things. Then breaks into your business to sleep there overnight--and steals things. And you don't call the cops?!? And the reason you don't call the cops is "Because it's Christmas"? What? ugh. Anyway, this is part of a series, but reading the previous stories is unnecessary. Th...more

This book truly danced right up to the ridiculous line and just sort of hovered there. It's fine as pure Christmas fluff - maybe I shouldn't have read it in June.

Weezie Foley is back and better than ever. She’s trying her best to win Savannah’s historic district decorating contest, but the couple across the street are throwing tons of money into their efforts. To add to her troubles, her boyfriend Daniel always becomes decidedly Grinch-like at Christmas, and she just can’t get him into the Christmas spirit. But nothing ever defeats Weezie for long, and there are plenty of laughs as we watch her determinedly spread Christmas cheer.

I adore M...more

It’s tinsel – light, sparkly, fun, but at the end of the season it gets tossed with the tree.

Weezie is an antiques dealer in Savannah, a character first introduced in Savannah Blues which I read several years ago. This one stands on its own well, though. Weezie’s in a frenzy to decorate her shop for the annual contest. Her Blue Christmas/1950s theme turns out gorgeous, even out-shining the competitor down the block, but things start to go missing and a mysterious woman has been makin...more

This was my first Mary Kay Andrews book and it is still my favorite.

I guess I like it so much because it is set around Christmas but I also found the characters very relatable.

As I read other books my Ms. Andrews I see there is always a heroine, who lives in the south and into design. Besides cooking there is also a mystery of some sort to solve.

A quick and sweet book. I was sad when it was done. After this book I promised myself I would read all books by Mar...more

grr. i really hate when i grab a book just because it's available at the library...get into it and discover that it's part of a series-and not the first installment!! I felt like the author was referring to past happenings during the book but goodreads just confirmed it. darn it!

well, it's a good, cute read anyway. no need to read the first two books unless you feel so inclined. The characters are fun, though relatively simple. The story is sweet and the writing is enjoyable. I love ...more

This book was really fun, light reading, and very season-appropriate. It is a delightful romance, set in Savannah, Georgia at Christmastime. It takes place right in our time, but it is filled with interesting retro details, as well as a cast of fun characters that make great pictures pop into your mind - no need for illustrations. Very charming and worth reading if you are into antiques, eccentric people, and unpredictable pets.

A quick book that the reader could immediately grasp was ordered by the publisher for a holiday book sequel to the popular Savannah Blues, it was fun to read. The little antique shop on an old square in Savannah becomes the setting for a little shopowner larceny, some family dysfunction, and some holiday cheer involving a homeless lady. Don't except The Great American Novel, but do look for entertainment.

A little love story. The main character is a antique dealer and her boyfriend is always missing. I did like the Christmas dinner she planned for both families to get together. Of course the boyfriend was not there he was workign at his resturant. One brother cut his finger while carving the turkey and the wife passed out and had to get stiches in her forehead. Otherwise not real interesting.

If you did not grow up in the South or have friends or relatives here, you might not care for this book. In a few places it tries a bit too hard to be drop dead funny, but the nuances would fall flat if you didn't know life here. I was charmed with this, the slimmest volume in Mary Kay Andrews portfolio. It reminded me of myself in places, well loved characters in my town in of my life.

Andrews gives her readers what they have come to expect from her, along with some new twists in this funny, funky Christmas story: her endearingly quirky southern characters, great descriptions of kitschy objects, a celebration of tradition, and a bit of suspense as Weezie meets her new gay neighbors and tries to figure out who is trying to sabotage her business. A hoot!

A quick (one day), cute read, this story was not the best in the series of tales of Weezie and BeBe, but it was enjoyable and festive. A bit more predictable than the other tales she has woven, it was a story of enjoying the season. Reading it in July was a little surreal, as I was ready for the Christmas season when I put it down. Also, the scene describing Christmas Eve dinner at Weezie's are five or six pages of Andrews' most amusing writing!

Ok, I admit it--if its about Christmas I WILL read it. No matter how badly written, edited or published.

Having said all that--this was a fun, quick, breezy read. A mild mystery, plenty of zany characters and a lovely setting. I do love Savannah, and combining Savannah and Christmas AND an antique shop--what could be better.

This was not a book I would have chosen. The ending was very abrupt. The plot was pretty predictable. If I was going to choose a book like this I would have selected one of The Sweet Potato Queens or YaYa books.
But - it was short, fast and got us another meeting with the club before the holidays so I guess it served its purpose.

Good follow-up book to Savannah Blues. A short little tale that includes interior design and Southern style. I loved the Manny and Cookie characters along with their dog Ruthie. The real star of the book is Jethro the dog though. He pulls everything and everyone together. He's definitely my favorite.

I love these books by Mary Kay Andrews! This is the second of hers that I've read, after Savannah Breeze. I definitely want to read Savannah Blues soon. All 3 of these books contain the same characters, but it seems to be okay if you read them out of order. This one revolves around Weezie, who owns her own antique shop in Savannah, GA and enters it in a decorating contest for Christmas, with the theme of a Blue Christmas! I LOVE the way MKA describes things. It makes me want to move right ...more

Sometimes you gotta a read a "pure fluff" just for fun. This a genre-free fiction read, about a Christmas-lover who's dating Scrooge. Lots of holiday hijinx, interesting characters and a couple of minor mysteries. Reads kinda like an old-fashioned movie - with antiques and wine auctions. Enjoyed the escape.

This was a a good audiobook to listen to while driving all over doing Christmas shopping. Loved the antiques/collectibles shop and the Savannah setting. Some quirky Southern characters and snappy dialogue made it breeze along. Give it a try when you're sick of listening to Christmas music in the car.

I usually really hate Christmas books because they are silly and way too sappy. This one had some sap, but I liked that it was a quick part 3 to the series. I have come to like these characters and it was nice to see what happened next. A less sappy and predictable ending would have given it more stars.
