Got this for free at the offices of WLUW, Loyola University's radio station. They had been sent to the station for review, but WLUW doesn't have a literary critic or a book show (and the award for marketing research goes to.....), so this was sitting in a box, free for the taking.

A moving and heartfelt look at Hays' coming into his Jewish faith as a mature man, but choosing to go through his Bar Mitzvah with the other young people in his temple. Warm, witty and wise.

I did not expect to like this one as much as I did. The prose is rich and marvelous, and I'm keeping it because I'm sure I missed something on the first read-through.
