love Kay Hooper's novels!!

From back cover:

"He's the kind of killer we instinctively fear the most. A killer without boundaries, conscience, or fear of being caught. And his latest victim is terrifying proof that no one is safe: the daughter of a powerful U.S. senator.

Now, Bishop and his FBI Special Crimes Unit find themselves in a unique situation. Aid comes in the form of a fledgling civilian organization of unorthodox crime stoppers. Operating outside More...

More like 2.5 stars. To be honest I didn't pay full attention to this audio. Some things would perk up my ears, but for the most part I heard but didn't listen. The characters were interesting. A lot of time seemed to be spent explaining the psychic gifts, I got bored with this after a while. Maybe the next books won't feel the need to explain anything since the reader should already be familiar with the characters. Not sure if I will continue to the next books in this series. I wasn't re More...

Hooper does a good job outlining events of a serial killer and the course of action the police and federal investigators take. With this story, she utilizes psychics. While I found the story pretty well written and enjoyed the psychics connections, she started to bring in more psychics. Knowing that this is something investigators use sometimes I found a few parts a little off the wall. These psychics somehow could connect with each other and enhance each others powers and sometimes absorb t More...

Blood Dreams by Kay Hooper is one in her Bishop/Special Crimes Unit series. This books focuses on twins, Dani and Paris, who use their psychic powers as part of a civilian group of psychic investigators similar to the FBI team headed by Bishop. The book begins with Dani’s precognitive dream that the team connects with a serial killer. Dani, her ex-boyfriend turned sheriff, and other members of the team track a serial killer in Dani’s hometown.

Blood Dreams is not my favorite Kay More...

Cool concept, an FBI unit comprised of psychics working with a similar civilian unit to hunt down some seriously bad dudes. There were a few references in the book to prior action in the series that made me wish I had been able to start at the beginning (normally I'm compulsive about that, but I was in an airport and desperate). It was a good read, not too bloody and just a touch of spooky with a spunky team and a clear set of good guys. The cheesy romance is even marginally plausible. Funny More...

Not realizing that this is the first book in a planned trilogy, I was very disappointed in both the plot and character development, much of it background to set a scene with little satisfaction for the reader at the end. The basic premise is interesting a special crimes unit civiliam offshoot that uses people with a variety of psychic abilities to track a serial killer. But much of the dialogue is formulaic and the internal dialog is pathetic navel gazing fraught with "what might have bee More...

I enjoyed reading this book by Kay Hooper. This was the first in a series of 3. She rights a lot of her books that way. I don't think I'm up for the other 2 right now but I'll catch them later.
I like the Special Crimes Unit and the fact that the people all have different types of psychic ability. There was some suspense and thrills but at times I had problems figuring out what was going on within the story. Oh course there is a romance which I can take or leave but evidently these a More...

This book initially showed great promise. The whole book was written around a reoccurring dream psychic Dani was having. She usually has premonition dreams and they usually always come true!

I didn't realize this book was the first in a trilogy, so when the author ended the book without the dream Dani was having come true .....
I realized that the author was trying to do a cliffhanger so you would want to read the next book. But it is a trilogy! And the third book isn't even wri More...

Impressed. I went into this not expecting much. Reading King and Koontz since the age of 12 has somewhat desensitized me to a lot of today's Thriller/Horror genre. Only on the rare occasion does a book actually send chills down my spine and have me glancing over my shoulder. This book did that for me a few times during the read. I was a bit put out by the ending, because I wasn't aware this was the first in a trilogy, but the story was gripping, and I came to care about the main characters. Now, More...

Although this isn't my favorite story in the Bishop/SCU series, I still found it to be a quick, engaging read.

Dani has come home to Venture, Georgia, to comfort her twin sister, Paris, after her divorce. Or so she says. Both women know that there's really another reason that Dani has finally come home.

These sisters share a bond even closer than the normal one between twins, because they both possess psychic abilities. And Dani has been having dream visions that tell her a More...

I thought I had read Hooper before and liked her writing- this book was a HUGE disappointment. The dialogue was so ridiculously contrived that I raced through it just to see what happens at the end...only to find that it's a trilogy. I am not going to read 2 more books I'm sure not to like just to find out. I really wish that all books that were part of a series would say so in an obvious place on one of the covers (and which number in the series it is.) This was a complete TIME WASTER.

Ok. I am a sucker for these "Bishop/Special Crimes Unit" books. Yes, I know they are cheesy mysteries involving agents with psychic powers. I don't even think I believe in psychic powers . . .but wouldn't it be cool if the FBI had a task force comprised of telepaths and empaths and linked twins, etc.? This was one of her weaker books, but I am looking forward to reading the next one in this trilogy. I have a feeling it will make up for this book's missing pieces. Keep ya posted.

This is my first Kay Hooper book. I've heard really great things about her as an author and I thought the premise of this book sounded intriguing. I was bored really early on. The characters didn't seem to interact very well together and the writing just didn't hold my interest. I kept telling myself it would get better and then realized that I'm not obligated to finish this book.

Because I didn't finish this book I'm not sure if anyone other than me should take this review seriously

Bishop/Special Crimes Unit…not sure what number this is in series and probably be one that you want to read from the start…this is about people with varying psychic abilities…parts of it grabbed me and other parts lost my interest. The ending wasn’t really an ending but more like a cliff hanger. Will go back and start at beginning of series to get more info on the characters and their connections.

I have read quite a few of Kay Hooper's books, even though I haven't gotten around to listing them all yet. I did enjoy Blood Dreams as much as any of the others, however, it seemed to me to be kind of predictable towards the end. That may be because I've read so many books from her so far, I'm not sure. Now, saying that, I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read fiction, if only because the characters are so likable.

This was my first Kay Hooper book and I was very intrigued by the concept of a psychic FBI team hunting down a serial killer. However, the story fell flat for me. I really had high hopes for this series but now I'm just not sure if I want to continue with the rest of them. I must admit my expectations were a little high (I wanted something comparable to the In Death series) and maybe I expected to much but to me the story was too rushed and the character development was just not as good as it More...

Dani Justice's dreams are haunted by a dream that seems to suggest that she's going to have trouble, that she's going to end up in a building that's colapsing but that she needs to rescue someone. The only change that occurs are minor details.

She returns to her home city and her twin Paris, who is recovering from her divorce. She also finds herself having to face up to her relationship with Marcus Purcell. The fact that he accepts her powers scares her. Can they have a relationsh More...

I'm wishing I'd waited for all three books in this trilogy to be published before starting Blood Dreams. Without giving away vital information about the plot, all I can say is the end of this book is not the end of the story. As usual, Kay Hooper did not disappoint me. If I had all three books, I would probably sit and read them one after another without resting.

Meh. Maybe I'm tired of reading this series -- set in trilogies. Maybe I don't like all the "who's on first" feel. Maybe I don't like the "this is the mother of all monsters" build up to "he's so ordinary...and not the monster we're looking for." Whatever it was, I wasn't impressed by #10 in the Bishop series. Also, don't be fooled by the "romance" bookshelf. There's maybe five sentences devoted to the romance in the story.

Horrible dreams of horrible reality to come - in this precognitive thriller from Kay Hooper, we follow psychics as they use their abilities to track killers. In this case, a serial killer may have moved his target area from Boston to the small town of Venture. Can the 'powers' combine to find the killer before he strikes...? Find out...

Chilling and fascinating with a very creepy killer, intriguing psychic abilities, and good, riveting mysteries. I became a bit weary with the repetition Dani's dream, having to hear it over and over and over, but otherwise I really enjoyed listening to this book. I definitely will be looking for the next one because I want to know what happens next!

Amy got me started on a new author...and I'm hooked!
I didn't realize at first that this was the start of a trilogy. I kept wondering how this story could possibly be all wrapped up in 50 pages....35 pages....10 pages....Oh! This must be part of a series...

Can't get anything passed me!!

While I always devour anything from Kay Hooper, this book didn't really measure up to the previous Bishop/SCU novels, IMO. Some of the questions raised in the book are easily answered early on by the reader that it makes the main character appear slow on the uptake, and that's never a good thing.

This was not the book for me--some really gory stuff, plus a description of a serial killer with his victims that felt a bit like torture porn. And there are so many characters in the Special Crimes Unit/Haven universe now, I can't keep track of them all.

(but mostly, it was the torture porn.)

Blood Trilogy #1, BCU #10
I've read several of Kay Hopper's BCU series, not all and not in order. This one did not seem to grab me like the others did. the story was decent and the psychic stuff was good, some different stuff but it just did not pull me in.

This book does elude to other possible stories down the line. One of the supporting characters, also an SCU member makes a comment that leads me to believe we'll be reading more about her in the future. I have yet to come More...

I love Kay Hooper's Bishop series because of all the psychic things in them, not to mention they are pretty scary with all the serial killers. However, while this one was good, and held my attention, it just didn't seem to be as "fleshed out" as her other ones to day. I did like the lack of too much romance but her characters seemed to be a bit "empty." I didn't feel like I got to know any of them really, and that they were sort of cardboard. But I do still plan to grab the More...

I was prepared not to like this book. I read the first couple of pages and thought "no way." A friend enouraged me to continue, and I'm glad I did. The book is good. I'm not a fan of paranormal, but I do love a good mystery and this was a good mystery. The plot is unpredictable and the ending leaves you wanting to read more of Ms. Hooper's books.

Blood Dreams has many forms of psychics banding together to solve crimes and in this case a horrible serial killer. Murder descriptions were a bit too gruesome for my taste and I really didn't buy all the different types of psychics - one was a medium, another clairvoyant, etc. I don't think I'll bother with the rest of the trilogy.

Since I have read Kay Hoopers other books with the physic Bishop, I knew I would enjoy Blood Dreams. Knowing the history of many of the characters makes it easier to get into the story. To image having special powers to fight evil with good is always a nice summer read.
