She is bold, smart, kind, and very likeable. The CIA sends her on her newest mission, but trouble finds her there, and maybe true love. Royal Target by Traci Hunter Abramson
A CIA operative, linguist Janessa Roger, sometimes finds a little excitement. While at a Brazillian state reception, she is suddenly requested to act as additional security detail for the royal family of Meridia, namely, Prince Garrett Fortier. He finds it quite humorous that a tiny woman like Janessa is his "body gaurd". But, Janessa and Garrett make a connection that neither expects, and when Janessa is sent home because of her religious beliefs, she is sud...more

I enjoy Traci's books anyway, but I liked Royal Target even more than I thought I would. She did a great job of taking a pretty unlikely situation and making you feel like it could actually happen- what woman hasn't wondered what it would be like to meet and fall in love with a modern-day prince yet still be strong enough to stand her ground and take care of herself (and in an evening gown, too).

Janessa, a young, LDS CIA agent, is on a mission in Caracas, Venezuela when she first meets Prince Garrett. They immediately hit it off. After that mission abruptly ends, she receives a new mission to go to Meridia-- a city on the coast of Italy. When she arrives, she is told that she must pretend to be engaged to none other than Prince Garrett. She tries to ignore her feelings for him so that they won't interfere with what she is supposed to do-- protect the royal family. The stakes are raised...more
I also read 'Royal Secrets', the sequel to this book. Both are more girly than Abramson's other books, which is obvious from the covers. The main characters are LDS and there are some LDS themes, but little preaching. The heroines are CIA agents, so they are capable and intelligent . . . but they both fall in love with modern-day princes. This is the point where I confess that I still love princess stories, so I thought these books were great fun. But I think my sisters, who require more action...more

What a fun book! I had preordered it and finally got it yesterday. I then promptly started reading it and could barely put it down. It was a fun cross between romance and suspense, creating a modern-day Mormon fairy tale. Definitely a must read!
I loved this book!! Of course, I love all of Abramson's books. This book is full of mystery, adventure, and (clean) romance. It captured my attention from the first page and I had a hard time putting it down.
Loved it!!! Actually I've loved all of Traci's books. I love her writing style and her romances are always perfect. The plot was great in this book. Janessa works for the CIA and is given the assignment to help protect the royal family after multiple death threats have been aimed at them. She goes under cover as the prince's fiance which of course leads to a couple of sparks. There’s a handsome prince, royal jewels, beautiful dresses, girls with guns… It’s every girls dream! (well except the par...more
I rated this book 4 stars because it was escapism at it's best and I so needed that this week! It was just a fun book with little reality. Some like fantasy with wizards and dragons, I like my fantasy with skinny women who eat dessert, never exercise, and still are skinny as they meet and fall wonderfully in love with rich, handsome men who are without flaws. I liked the CIA connection and that the story was not about joining the LDS church, but a story with a little mystery, action, romance, wi...more

I loved this book! It's a fun read! *sigh* When do I get my prince????? :o)
I loved it! It was a total cliche and you could tell what was going to happen next but hey it was like a fairy tale! CIA agent (who is also LDS) falls for the prince (who isn't LDS). She realizes it will never work but then she doesn't know that he wants to be LDS (and has for a little while)! She finds out and is happy again! He gets baptized and they plan to get married in the temple a year from then! They solve their problems, the prince's father realizes it's stupid to try and disown his son...more
I like this book. It is a really really easy read and a fun little story. If you are reading this and don't want to read a book about Mormon's or someone joining the Mormon church don't read this book. I thought it was a fun book and I didn't figure things out until the very end. Basically a CIA agent is supposed to protect a royal family from terrorists. She falls in love and so does the family she is protecting. It has a lot of twists to it that make it fun to read. If I would have sat down an...more
The scenario and characters of this book a little unrealistic but I loved it. Although definitely an written for and about members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, it is very fun and the romance is very sweet and hey, isn't it every girl's secret dream to have the prince fall in love with you and live happily ever after? If you are looking for meaning, real life, and art this book is not for you. If you are looking for a fun, quick escape into happily-ever-after, you might want...more
I love Traci Hunter Abramson's books, and this one did not disappoint. It starts out with CIA agent Janessa is assigned to go under cover for the royal family in Meridia, she meets Prince Garrett and they both fall in love. But things are not easy for the royal family, and Janessa is afraid for their safety. She and Garrett go through several trials thought the book, and it was a fun journey to go through.

Royal Target is about an LDS woman named Janessa who works for the CIA, specializing in linguistics. Because of Janessa's knowledge of languages, she often gets asked to do other jobs such as security detail for famous people or secret spy missions. Janessa gets asked to go to another country, Meridia, to protect the Royal Family. In order to do this, she must pretend to be engaged to one of Meridia's Princes. She met this Prince, Garrett, on one of her previous assignments, but still, she is s...more
Abramson excels at putting credible characters in incredible situations and making it all work together for the reader's suspense and enjoyment. Royal Target is not part of a series and probably can't be--but I look forward to reading Abramson's future books. Highly recommended for those who enjoy LDS fiction and have wondered what they would do if suddenly faced with immersion in a royal household--sort of like the experience of Diana, Princess of Wales, only much more dangerous and yet more fu...more
Amazon tags on this book might be: LDS fiction, murder mystery, romance. Janessa Rogers is a twenty-something single, returned missionary. She happens to be a trained agent for the CIA. She has been assigned to go undercover to provide security for the royal family of Meridia, a fictionalized monarchy in the Mediterranean. Recent terrorist-type incidents as well as mailed threats to the members of the royal family and Meridia’s close ties to the US have prompted the US government to provide secu...more

His country, a fictional European place called Meridia, needs more security and after the American embassy is bombed, they call in the CIA and Janessa heads to Meridia. Her undercover assignment is to pretend to be engaged to Garrett, while figuring out who's responsible for the bombing. But she soon finds herself with real feelings for him.

I was so intrigued to read a Mormon espionage thriller, but evidently it is not my thing. To be fair I'm not sure if any espionage thriller is my thing. But this had a romantic element that I should have liked, only I didn't find it believable so I could never quite get behind it. The narrative distance was also a little to far for me, so I felt like I was being told the story instead of living it with the characters. I've met the author of this book and she is so nice, so I wished I liked her b...more
I enjoyed this story, I liked the plot idea and thought the story flowed nicely. It’s a fun book to curl up with on a snowy day. I liked our main character Janessa, she was easy to relate to. While she is a tough CIA agent, she doesn’t come across too tough. She and Garrett had good chemistry together and I liked how their story unfolded. I did think they fell in love a little fast; it drives me crazy when characters are declaring their love for each other when they’ve only known each other a fe...more
Janessa, a CIA agent, is assigned to guard the royal family of Meridia, especially Prince Garrett. She ends up falling in love with him--and he with her--but she knows she can never marry him. In the meantime, someone is trying to kill the royal family, and Janessa has to keep saving their lives.
This is a cute book, but I'm kind of tired of "strong" women spies who are superwomen and are much smarter than the men they are working with.

I really liked this one. It followed a similar, fairly predictable, general plot/conflict, but it still kept me intrigued and guessing. Although it was in no-wise tied into the Saint Squad series, it showed similarities without being identical. It has more of a churchy-theme to it, without being "churchy." If you know what I mean. Anyways, I read most of within two days, and if you like Traci Abramson or Dee Henderson, I think you would like it.
I usually don't love books that have LDS characters in them. This book was the exception. I had some of my YW (young women I work with in church) recommend these and they were just fun reads! These would make fantastic movies! I love the James Bond type plot going on and how the Royals handle themselves. All the characters are very endearing and likable, you actually care what happens to them. I'm off to read the sequel!
This is one of the cutes love stories in the history of love stories!! If you like a good romance novel then you will love it! I also love how it was all about an LDS girl falling in love with a "non member" but in reality he loves the LDS gospel and wants to become a member. This book is not only a romance novel but it is an action packed novel to with tons of girl power!! I love this book and would reread it 100 times!!

3-4 stars! This is one of those completely cheesy unbelievable "o bless our sweet Mormon hearts for trying" books! I'm a Mormon chick so I think that fully allows me to judge! So the 3 stars goes to the religious aspect of this book and the 4 goes to the cute romance in it! I passed this around to all of my roommates and they all loved it! You were just warned for the flirt to convert aspect of it! :)
This was a cute story and a quick read. The story is simple, Federal agent gets assigned to royal family but is LDS. Royal family have some trouble back home and are not supposed to get too involved with their bodyguards. Especially not the prince. But that doesn't stop the agent from falling head over heels for the prince anyway. The question is will they get their happily ever after?
