Seventeen-year-old Annika Truman knows about the power of positive thinking. With a little brother who has cancer, it's all she ever hears about. And in order to help Jeremy, she will go to the ends of the earth (or at least as far as Hollywood) to help him believe he can survive his upcoming surgery.

But Annika's plan to convince Jeremy that a magic genie will grant him a...more

How far would you go to accomplish an impossible wish? Annika Truman will not take no for an answer for the wish she wants to grant, and will see just how much it takes to pull off a miracle.

It all started when Annika said that Jeremy, her six-year old brother who has cancer, could wish for anything he wanted and her genie would give it to him on the spot. Annika is sure he's going to ask for the new Teen Robin Hood action figure, which she had to fight Black Friday crowds to get. S...more

Implausible, impossible, far-fetched, silly, over-the-top, unrealistic, in-your-dreams, totally and completely off the charts concept.

I loved it.

Before starting this, I had extremely high expectations. Since, for one, isn't the cover so cute? Plus, Janette's previous books have been great, so I was hoping this would be the same deal. Luckily, it was a darling book. Though, it had a quite a few flaws.

First off, I loved the characters. Annika was a strong teenage girl that I admired a ton, because of how far she would go to make all of her brother's dreams come true. Plus, the relationships she had with her parents, best frien...more

Seventeen-year-old Annika is determined to grant her little brother's wish before he has brain surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. Will she be able to convince the gorgeous young actor who plays his favorite TV character to visit six-year-old Jeremy? Annika is smart, strong, and funny. She is devoted to her brother and mad at God for making him sick. It is a sad, serious situation but Annika has an entertaining, romantic adventure along the way. The ending will tug at your heart.

What a fun, fun and moving story. Here is a quote I loved!

"Yesterday you asked me what the purpose of life is. I've thought about that ever since. I think it's to do good no matter what life throws at you, to not let the pain turn you bitter. It's something we have to learn, something we have to make ourselves become."

I would love a sequel to this one! Maybe it would lose some of it's charm with a sequel but it doesn't change the fact that I still wou...more

With an uncanny ability for reading other people and the force of a charming personality, seventeen-year-old Annika Truman is used to getting her way.

Heading out to the day-after-Thanksgiving sales, Annika wants nothing more than to return home with a Talking Teen Robin Hood for her cancer-stricken little brother, Jeremy. But the six-year-old throws her a curveball when he reveals that his heart's desire is for the "real" Tee...more

As soon as I started reading this book I knew I wouldn’t be able to put it down until I was finished. I picked it up with only a few hours before one of my favorite T.V. show (So You Think You Can Dance.) When the show started I put the book down (pointless). I watched all of about 5 minutes before I picked it back up and read straight through the show and into the night.

This book was very emotional. I laughed my head off, I had tears build up in my eyes, and then I full fledge ba...more

Imagine having to grant an impossible wish. Imagine having the conviction to pull it off. That is the make of Just One Wish by Janette Rallison.

Annika realizes that she's way over her head when her six-year-old brother, riddled with cancer, wishes to meet his idol, Robin Hood, from the successful teen TV series. Somehow, she has to grant this wish before Friday--before his surgery. Which means she has to somehow sneak into the studio, convince the Steve Raliegh (the guy who plays Rob...more

There is nothing Annika wouldn't do for her six-year-old brother Jeremy. She adores him to no end and she wants to give him anything he wants. More than anything, she wants to give him hope. Jeremy has cancer and he's about to have surgery. He's been very nervous about it so Annika is sure that all he needs is positive thinking to get him through it. Annika knows she has to be creative and make him believe that things will go well, so she tells him she has a magic genie that can grant wishes. Wh...more

This was a very cute and easy to read story. It was short as I read it in a couple of hours.

I liked Annika. I liked how she stood by her brother and was willing to go to the extreme for him. She was teensy bit crazy and over the top but it was funny and I enjoyed it.

I can't comment on Steve because I really don't know how actors act. I think he was well written though. It was nice to see that his life wasn't perfect.

One of my favorite scenes is in the beginning o...more

This book was everything I thought it would be and more. I couldn't put it down - I literally finished it in a couple of hours.

The main character- Annika- was very easy to relate to and understand. Probably because I found out pretty quickly that I had more in common with her than just the alikeness in our names. She is an amazing character- very strong and her devotion to her brother is admirable. There should be more people like that in the real world.

The story itself w...more

Ooh.. buku yang sangat sedih :( I want to cry...

And they are good books, too!

Anyway, ceritanya nih Annika mo ngasih hadiah kejutan buat Jeremy, berupa boneka Robin Hood remaja. Saat itu f...more

Okay, so last night I decided to read for an hour before I went to bed and ended up staying up until I read this whole book...yes, I am insane!!!

So I love this author, I love her writing style and I love the characters she creates. You are probably wondering why I only gave 3 stars. Well, I really don't like stories dealing at all with Cancer. The main character's(Annika) little brother has cancer and all he wants is to meet his favorite TV character...Robin Hood. When Annika’s little brother Jeremy is about to undergo surgery for cancer treatment, she knows that he will do better if he believes the cancer will be cured. So, she tells Jeremy a harmless white lie about a genie that will grant him two wishes — one for whatever he wants, and one wish to get better. But when Jeremy wishes for the real Teen Robin Hood to teach him archery (instead of the Teen Robin Hood doll Annika expects him to ask for), Annika makes up her mind to track down the celebrity a...more

When I picked this one up I was looking for a cute, fluffy read with some possible romance. And I got it - in ways - but I feel like I got a lot more from this book as well.

The plot centers around a scheme to get the actor who plays Teen Robin Hood to come visit the main character Annika's brother before he has surgery for his cancer. Jeremy, Annika's brother, is only six, so right off the bat that makes this novel a little heavier. The plot is, for various reasons, a bit far-fetche...more

This is honestly the best book I've read in a long time--not just good like entertaining, but good like soul-warming. Wow. First of all, it's laugh-out-loud funny the whole way through, and I mean that literally. I was seriously laughing the whole time. But then there was the really serious aspect of Annika's pain and desperation as she tried to cope with her brother's cancer and do something that might swing the odds in his favor, which was so, so touching. And the end! It made me cry--I'm stil...more

In this book, Janette Rallison demonstrates the Meg Cabot-like ability to commit you fully to a completely implausible story. Something that feels, as one of her characters says, not real but true.

Annika's little brother has a brain tumor, and Annika is determined to help him meet his favorite TV character (Teen Robin Hood) before he goes into a dangerous surgery. After trying more conventional methods and not getting anywhere, she decides to drive to L.A. to talk to the Teen Robin Hoo...more

Recommends it for: all my girlfriends!!
As a girl who has five little brothers, I wanted a lot out of this book - I wanted a girl who actually loved her siblings, who actually got along with them. Too often I try for that and end up finding a book about a family who don't really like each other much but have to learn to when tragedy strikes. This, however, is a story about a family who already love each other. And that's when the tragedy bit comes in.

I was totally satisfied with the family aspect of the story. Annika's...more

Wow! This book was fantastic and it may be my favorite Rallison novel (it’s a tie between this and My Fair Godmother). Our main character Annika (not a huge fan of the name) is full of spunk, determination and a huge heart. Ever since she found out her little brother was diagnosed with cancer she hasn’t been the same. Her new goal in life is to do whatever she can to help him get better. When I read what this story was going to be about I was a little nervous. I don’t usually like to read sad bo...more

Just One Wish is both predictable and heartfelt. On the one hand, we've got Annika Truman, a big sister with all the bravado in the world, who'll do whatever it takes to make her little brother, Jeremy, feel safe and secure heading into his surgery: he's got cancer, brain cancer. She's a girl with no bounds; she'll be in-your-face and won't-take-no-for-an-answer. She'll out-maneuver and outwit anyone and everyone who stands in her way. Rather it be the bully-of-a-man at the toy store who has all...more

This book was very fast paced and easy to read. I read it in only two days. I’ve read a few books by Janette Rallison before but this is by far my favorite! I was in love with the idea from the beginning-it seemed like such a cute, fun story. It starts right in with the action and the problem, leaving no time for unnecessary fluff.
Jeremy seems like such a cute little brother and I’m sad for what he has to go through in the story, but it makes the plot deeper and more purposeful.
