Seventeen-year-old Annika Truman knows about the power of positive thinking. With a little brother who has cancer, it's all she ever hears about. And in order to help Jeremy, she will go to the ends of the earth (or at least as far as Hollywood) to help him believe he can survive his upcoming surgery.

But Annika's plan to convince Jeremy that a magic genie will grant him a...more

How far would you go to accomplish an impossible wish? Annika Truman will not take no for an answer for the wish she wants to grant, and will see just how much it takes to pull off a miracle.

It all started when Annika said that Jeremy, her six-year old brother who has cancer, could wish for anything he wanted and her genie would give it to him on the spot. Annika is sure he's going to ask for the new Teen Robin Hood action figure, which she had to fight Black Friday crowds to get. She's totally...more

Implausible, impossible, far-fetched, silly, over-the-top, unrealistic, in-your-dreams, totally and completely off the charts concept.

I loved it.

I like this book because she did everything she could just to make her brother happy. Even though it made her sick to travel, she went to California to find Robin Hood to visit her sick brother in Maine . But she never gave up, not even a bit. She tried and tried to reach her goal to make her brother happy. But at the same time, she was scared that her brother would die.

I really liked this book because she was very determined to fulfill her brother's wish.

I really want you to read this book. I...more

I am very conflicted about this read.
First, I thought I wouldn't finish this book. The first half of the story drove me crazy, and I considered just stopping. But then the second half was quite good, so I thought I'd be giving this higher stars, but then--no, ending came and I both liked and hated it. Regretfully, in the end I could just really say "It was Ok". I know many people liked this but for me this was just... Well, s...more

Before starting this, I had extremely high expectations. Since, for one, isn't the cover so cute? Plus, Janette's previous books have been great, so I was hoping this would be the same deal. Luckily, it was a darling book. Though, it had a quite a few flaws.

First off, I loved the characters. Annika was a strong teenage girl that I admired a ton, because of how far she would go to make all of her brother's dreams come true. Plus, the relationships she had with her parents, best friend, and broth...more

I read this in under 2 hours! I couldn't put it down.

It was very entertaining and although this would never ever happen in real life, like most YA novel plots don't, and although it's way OTT, I continued reading it because it was funny and the characters are very likable! I didn't want to stop reading because I wanted to know what's going to happen next. :)

For a YA chick lit, this definitely deserves 5 stars.

Seventeen-year-old Annika is determined to grant her little brother's wish before he has brain surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. Will she be able to convince the gorgeous young actor who plays his favorite TV character to visit six-year-old Jeremy? Annika is smart, strong, and funny. She is devoted to her brother and mad at God for making him sick. It is a sad, serious situation but Annika has an entertaining, romantic adventure along the way. The ending will tug at your heart.

I loved it! I...more

What a fun, fun and moving story. Here is a quote I loved!

"Yesterday you asked me what the purpose of life is. I've thought about that ever since. I think it's to do good no matter what life throws at you, to not let the pain turn you bitter. It's something we have to learn, something we have to make ourselves become."

I would love a sequel to this one! Maybe it would lose some of it's charm with a sequel but it doesn't change the fact that I still would like a sequel.

With an uncanny ability for reading other people and the force of a charming personality, seventeen-year-old Annika Truman is used to getting her way.

Heading out to the day-after-Thanksgiving sales, Annika wants nothing more than to return home with a Talking Teen Robin Hood for her cancer-stricken little brother, Jeremy. But the six-year-old throws her a curveball when he reveals that his heart's desire is for the "real" Teen Robin Hood, from the shows they...more

“I never said you were supposed to be a jailer.” Steve crossed his arms and gave me a sharp look. “I only said a normal person would have questioned why someone would create a decoy nun and then crawl out the window.”

This is such a gorgeous story. I absolutely loved Annika’s devotion to Jeremy. Their relationship rocked. There were some laugh-out-loud moments and even some teary-eyed bits.

Okay, so the plot is ridiculous. But because the premise was so unusual, I went with it. Annika and Steve’s...more

Annika's life hasn't been the same since doctors discovered that her six-year-old brother, Jeremy, has a brain tumor. He is about to have surgery, and Annika hopes that if she can convince him to think positively, he'll pull through. Her plan backfires somewhat when Jeremy wishes for something unexpected, but that doesn't stop her from ditching school and leaving the state to track down Jeremy's favorite TV character (Teen Robin Hood) to teach him archery.

Oh jeez, this book was amazing. Where do I even begin? This book got really emotional towards the end, and it brought tears to my eyes. I got my laughs throughout this book as well, and it was just hilarious.

Annika's just an unbelievable character. She hopes for the best, and her brother has cancer is about to undergo surgery soon. Annika is willing to do anything for her brother, and she pretends to be a genie to grant her brother a wish. She thought that her brother wanted the Robin Hood acti...more

Aww, this novel is amazing, although I'm kind of waiting of what will happen to the romance of Steve and Annika.. >_<

Annika Truman, she's such a sweet sister, because she loves her brother dearly.. That she wants to grant his wish that cause her some trouble and able to meet this handsome guy.

At first, I'm having doubts to whether she can make the actor believe her because you know, she's just a girl and the fact that she's not a celebrity..

This novel made me laugh too, espec...more

I really don't see the point of authors trying to emphasise on the lack of Mary-Sue element in their books by bombarding the (of course) perfect female lead with tonnes of embarrassing mishaps and situations. For me, some of them don't work well- some end up portraying the sheer bimbo that lurks within the empty girl's soul, while others end up portraying an unrealistic ideals and expectations of the idealistic male lead/knight in shining armour that will never, ever tread the earth that we live...more

As soon as I started reading this book I knew I wouldn’t be able to put it down until I was finished. I picked it up with only a few hours before one of my favorite T.V. show (So You Think You Can Dance.) When the show started I put the book down (pointless). I watched all of about 5 minutes before I picked it back up and read straight through the show and into the night.

This book was very emotional. I laughed my head off, I had tears build up in my eyes, and then I full fledge bawled my eyes ou...more

Imagine having to grant an impossible wish. Imagine having the conviction to pull it off. That is the make of Just One Wish by Janette Rallison.

Annika realizes that she's way over her head when her six-year-old brother, riddled with cancer, wishes to meet his idol, Robin Hood, from the successful teen TV series. Somehow, she has to grant this wish before Friday--before his surgery. Which means she has to somehow sneak into the studio, convince the Steve Raliegh (the guy who plays Robin Hood) to...more

There is nothing Annika wouldn't do for her six-year-old brother Jeremy. She adores him to no end and she wants to give him anything he wants. More than anything, she wants to give him hope. Jeremy has cancer and he's about to have surgery. He's been very nervous about it so Annika is sure that all he needs is positive thinking to get him through it. Annika knows she has to be creative and make him believe that things will go well, so she tells him she has a magic genie that can grant wishes. Wh...more

This was a very cute and easy to read story. It was short as I read it in a couple of hours.

I liked Annika. I liked how she stood by her brother and was willing to go to the extreme for him. She was teensy bit crazy and over the top but it was funny and I enjoyed it.

I can't comment on Steve because I really don't know how actors act. I think he was well written though. It was nice to see that his life wasn't perfect.

One of my favorite scenes is in the beginning of the book and Annika is tryin...more

This book was everything I thought it would be and more. I couldn't put it down - I literally finished it in a couple of hours.

The main character- Annika- was very easy to relate to and understand. Probably because I found out pretty quickly that I had more in common with her than just the alikeness in our names. She is an amazing character- very strong and her devotion to her brother is admirable. There should be more people like that in the real world.

The story itself was unbelievably amazing-...more

Ooh.. buku yang sangat sedih :( I want to cry...

And they are good books, too!

Anyway, ceritanya nih Annika mo ngasih hadiah kejutan buat Jeremy, berupa boneka Robin Hood remaja. Saat itu film Robin Hood remaja se...more

Okay, so last night I decided to read for an hour before I went to bed and ended up staying up until I read this whole book...yes, I am insane!!!

So I love this author, I love her writing style and I love the characters she creates. You are probably wondering why I only gave 3 stars. Well, I really don't like stories dealing at all with Cancer. The main character's(Annika) little brother has cancer and all he wants is to meet his favorite TV character...Robin Hood. Well Annika through a series of...more

When Annika’s little brother Jeremy is about to undergo surgery for cancer treatment, she knows that he will do better if he believes the cancer will be cured. So, she tells Jeremy a harmless white lie about a genie that will grant him two wishes — one for whatever he wants, and one wish to get better. But when Jeremy wishes for the real Teen Robin Hood to teach him archery (instead of the Teen Robin Hood doll Annika expects him to ask for), Annika makes up her mind to track down the celebrity a...more

When I picked this one up I was looking for a cute, fluffy read with some possible romance. And I got it - in ways - but I feel like I got a lot more from this book as well.

The plot centers around a scheme to get the actor who plays Teen Robin Hood to come visit the main character Annika's brother before he has surgery for his cancer. Jeremy, Annika's brother, is only six, so right off the bat that makes this novel a little heavier. The plot is, for various reasons, a bit far-fetched, but Ralli...more

This is honestly the best book I've read in a long time--not just good like entertaining, but good like soul-warming. Wow. First of all, it's laugh-out-loud funny the whole way through, and I mean that literally. I was seriously laughing the whole time. But then there was the really serious aspect of Annika's pain and desperation as she tried to cope with her brother's cancer and do something that might swing the odds in his favor, which was so, so touching. And the end! It made me cry--I'm stil...more

This was extremely addicting and enjoyable for a book I normally would brush off as cute teen fluff. Don't get me wrong, the reason I read it was because it sounded light and fluffy. Who doesn't like good fluff after all? But I thoroughly devoured the entire book once I had a chance to sit down and read it starting on chapter two. I like to give myself teasers through chapter one to see how things may start off. I hadn't expected myself to become so engrossed in this short and sweet little story...more

Just one Wish was such an adorable book! Most of the books or movies with the same theme (ordinary girl catches the eye of a famous young star) are all so silly and with the same formula. Oh yeah, the hunk immediately falls in love with the regular girl because she is 1. super beautiful, 2. she doesn't care that he is famous, and 3. she is not even interested on him in the beginning.

Just one Wish is not about that at all. Annika is not really a fan of Steve and the reason their paths collide is...more
