A Year of Festivals: A Guide to Having the Time of Your Life by Lonely Planet (Lonely Planet Publications 2008)(910.202). This is a fascinating guide to all of the obscure, exotic, bizarre, and trippy festivals and celebrations held throughout the world. These are arranged chronologically by calendar date, and the guide includes travel information to the celebrant country. This guide covers the most exotic festivals in the world including Holi, Kumbh Mela, Burning Man, and La Tomatina. My rating ...more

Great for the fun-loving globe trotter! A bit too big to fit in your average backpack so I might get the Kindle version.
This book covers festivals around the world - from the religious to the downright, um, hedonistic. Gives you the locations for the best parades/celebration/parties and also warnings for the faint-hearted to prepare (if any).
Definitely useful as I add more must-sees to my travel bucket list :)
