Shelves: politics, history
A fascinating view of Philip Habib, a real-life hero. His life as a diplomat is inspiring, and the insights into global politics intriguing.

Habib is portrayed as a real person, with passion and zest for life, virtues and foibles.

The interactions with generals Sharon and Haig come to life, showing clearly how military people and diplomats are often at odds, and how differently they think. God save us from idealogues!

Well written book, with enough in it's reference list to back up it's relative impartiality, at least to the political events, if not to the character of Phil Habib himself. Example of a raw diplomat with smart weapons up his sleeve for such a highly flammable region.

Well-written and informative; the bibliography is quite useful as well...
