This is more about doctrinal controversies and developments in the Protestant Reformed Churches than a history of events. I found it to be an odd format: it walks through time chronologically to describe historical events, but intersperses that history with huge sections of verbose explanations of doctrines. It seemed the book was trying to serve dual purposes, and I feel separating the content into two books would make each work better.
