Christopher Dawson is a meta-historian, analyzing the warp and weft of world history from a Catholic perspective. He asks and answers civilization-level questions about the development (and potential decline) of culture, particularly Western culture. Some intriguing ideas to ponder and also an easy way to get a grip on the nature and mission of the Church without wading through dense tomes on ecclesiology.
