How can a telephone look "recently installed"? This was quick read that was borderline ridiculous in a lot of ways. Ok. It wasn't THAT bad.

The 80s references were nostalgic. There was no cheating although having some chicky rub up against the H is still annoying to read.

Despite the good, there was an awful lot to swallow to get through this book, and I couldn't buy most of it especially the speed with which the son takes to his father. You know, the one who had been absent for the first 15 years...more

I also wish we had the 1/2 star option. Sometimes one is just too much.

Please don't ask me why I read something this awful. I'm not sure I want to live in a world where people write such trash and are able to get it published. We need more famines.

I won this book in a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. It was a signed copy and arrived with Sunset Embrace.

I would probably rate this book 2.5 stars, not because it is bad, just a little dated and cheesy. Overall, it was a nice little diversion on a cold winter's day. I don't usually read these kinds of novels.

I found that I was annoyed with both main characters. The most likable character in this story was David, the 16 year old son.

Long Time Coming By Sandra Brown Loving a man for years without his knowledge. A grandmother doing what she could by helping the mother, son and father become a family. The author saved the best for last.

this is my first SB and I really love it.
jarang-jarang ada cewek kayak Marnie yang rela ngorbanin masa remajanya buat ngurus anak kakaknya karna kakaknya terlalu gak peduli dan akhirnya meninggal karna kecelakaan, belum lagi harus ngurus ayahnya yang menderita penyakit jantung sebelum akhirnya meninggal, trus ibunya yang terserang stroke karna stress akibat ditinggal suami dan anak pertamanya.

ceritanya bener-bener bagus. Dari awal sampai akhir isinya menarik dan gak ngebosenin. kalo boleh dibila...more

This is my first Sandra Brown book and I really quite enjoyed it. It was quick and sweet. Just what I needed at the time. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The pacing was fast, I loved that!
This book was originally wrote in 1983...so there are a few things I had to chuckle about. Like her son has a poster of Christy Brinkley on his wall. I thought that was so funny!
Anyway it's a really sweet romance. There were times when I was bawling like a baby...I was thinking...God what's wrong with me?! But all end...more

Marnie Hibbs had been in love with Law Kincaid (a famous astronaut) since she first met him while on vacation with her family when she was 14. It is 17 years later and he has come to her place to confront her about the letters he has been receiving from her address threatening him and mentioning that he has a child that he knew nothing about.

I loved Law from the start and at first Marnie was okay too, but as the book progressed she was too much of a martyr and I did not enjoy her.

~giggle~ I definitely liked this book but have now decided that I prefer to read romance rather than listen to it. It seemed sillier when I listened and it's impossible for me not to giggle at narrated sex scenes. It's very mature of me, I know, but I cannot help myself. Predictable, yes? Entertaining, of course.

Great book by one of my favorite authors. Story is "dated", but not a problem, 80's setting - 1988 or '89. I found myself relating a lot to the main character, Marnie Hibbs. Seldom do I ever read a book more than once, but this is one I could reread in the future.

Long Time Coming is a romance novel by Sandra Brown. I received a free copy from the Goodreads Giveaway Program. I give it 3 out of 5 stars. It’s a quick read, only 197 pages, and relatively short compared to her crime novels. I had never read a pure romance novel by Sandra before, so it was a new experience for me. The story-line is okay, but personally I’m not a fan of the male lead being that much older, eight years in this case, than the woman in a non-historical love story. The romance is s...more

I liked this little book. Astronauts are not the big thing in the 2000's as they were in the 1980's but hero worship for teen boys will never die so it believable that David could form an attachment for Law Kincaid, but to the extent he does in this book? I don't know.

Law Kincaid is David's father because of a summer fling with a 16-year old. He didn't know about the boy until he receives and anonymous letter and comes charging down on Marnie Hibbs. Marnie, David's adoptive mother is actually h...more

This was a cute little romance story about a couple that meet when one was 14 (Marnie), the other was 23 (Law), the twist is that the older sister (16) was there too and she is the one with the summer romance with Law and ended up pregnant. The sister doesn't want the baby but the parents find out and intervene. She ends up having the baby, but never gives a damn about him, leaving Marnie to raise the child. The sister in her self destructive ways dies in an accident 4 years later.

Fast forward...more

I received this through GoodReads FirstReads.

I knew this was a romance, but I was expecting it to look more like a Nora Roberts than a Mills & Boon. Still, I was determined to read it though my expectations were considerably lowered by the cover. It seems a terrible thing to say, but I'm not generally a pure romance kind of girl and that's the best that can be said about Mills & Boon in terms of plot.

The beginning was far better than I expected and drew me in. I cared about the main char...more

Long time coming was a wonderful read. The characters were regular people one might meet in their own neighborhood. The harsh truth of her sister’s actions from the past which shaped all of their lives was refreshing. It was believable and brought out compassion within me. I loved how this book was not a sugary, romantic perfect ending. It had genuine life in it. The steps they all took to arrive at the ending was not hurried or slow motion, but perfection. The younger sister’s life was changed...more

As I am sure many of you know, Sandra Brown has written quite a few novels for Harlequin. Those books tend to be pure romance with the formula of boy meets girl, they hate each other while secretly loving each other, then at end they love each other. There isn't much more to the story than that. Then Sandra Brown started writing really good stories that were romance and mystery. Well, this one starts out as though there is a mystery. Someone is writing threatening letters to Law Kincaide, a famo...more

I borrowed this book from a coworker, looking for something to amuse myself. I was sorely disappointed. Not only was it hardly steamy, the plot was so thin that about halfway through, when I started skimming about a sentence on each right-facing page looking for interesting scenes, not only did I not find any, but I was still able to follow the plot without a bit of difficulty. The main character was pathetic, the love interest was an asshole, and the main point of suspense in the novel wasn't e...more

what was i thinking getting a woman reader Sandra Brown, i know better, had on my ipod for years so listened to it finally, its redeeming quality it was a love story and had a teenage boy in it that just got his drivers license! other than that it was a lot of lusting and body part descriptions!!! lol

I think you will like this quick read of a young girls summer love, that come to light yrs later.
"Long Time Coming," is about a young girl who falls in love with an older man, that has a affair with her older sister, during a summer vacation.
Her sister finds she is pregnant and doesn't want the baby, their fathers a minister and forbids her to have an abortion. Marnie wants the baby even though she's just a young girl herself. Her sister is killed in a car accident, Marnie raises the boy as her...more

One of Brown's books that I hadn't read before until now.

After reading mystery books, I needed a little 'fluff'. This was it.

A single mom is appalled when a gentleman comes to her door. He wants to know why she is sending him letters informing that he has a son. She claims that she is doing no such thing.

She does remember him from a summer 17 years ago from when her family rents a beach house and stays there a few weeks. She and her sister think that he's very cute and adorable.

He has been a b...more

One of Sandra Brown's short romances. I didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as some of her others, such as "Play Dirty." Possibly, it was just too short--not enough time to get to know the heroine. Marnie Hibbs is raising her sister's illegitimate child since her sister's death in a car accident many years ago. When the child's father suddenly arrives on the scene wanting to know why Marnie is sending him threatening letters, she is mystified. As the two work to find the blackmailer, they becom...more

COMMENTS: One of Sandra Brown's "encore" romances -- a re-issue romance from the late '80's. Nice, pleasant read. Marnie has raised her sister's son on her own. Her sister was a teenager when she had a brief summer fling w/ Law & she never told him about her child. Marnie, only 14 that summer, ha...more

3 1/2 stars but I bumped it up to 4 b/c it was good for when it was. I definitely prefer the more recent Sandra Brown books which have more substance.

This is one of my favortie oldies by Sandra Brown. I re-read it recently, and I was crying at certain parts once again!

This is a story written in the 80's during SB's Loveswept time, but it's pretty much timeless. (Minus the Chevy IROC ).

LTC has tons of tension for a catagory romance, sexual and otherwise, and the sex is hot too for the time it was written. (No purple prose to be found!)

I like the way Marnie stands up to Law and the way she plays her love close to her chest so that he can find...more

I was unable to finish this. The premise was intriguing. Law Kincaid, astronaut hero discovers that he fathered a child as a young man. The now 16 year old was raised by his aunt since his mom had died. The mom and the astronaut had a hot summer romance which resulted in the child.

This was a typical romance story where the two protagonists have conflict early on and then fall into bed together. The woman is unable to resist the raw magnetism of the attractive male even when she is angry with hi...more
