Once again there were large chunks of the original book left out of the graphic novel, but alas, I will cease complaining about this unfortunate issue. The illustrations were phenomenally done, and the dialogue was entertaining enough. It is a very quick read, but good. ...more

Entertaining, educational, lovely art work. Introduces some sophisticated vocabulary and basic Italian phrases. Gives some nice background on Venice, too. This is one of only a few works that introduces Commedia Dell'arte to children. Lends itself to reading aloud. Wonderful for use at a library group or in concert with an art or writing project. Could be accompanied by a mask making craft, marionette or puppet making. Would even work with older children if you then had them try to come up with ...more

I think this is a really great way to include the theatre arts in the classroom. Probably a 3r-5th grade book, but introduces a lot of great history. Very artistic illustrations and overall fun story line!
