A post-apocalyptic story concerning a young man named Joshua and a young girl named Sarah who are placed in sleeper pods after at terrible war threatens to destroy all life on Earth (this was printed in 1990, probably less then a year after the fall of the Berlin wall, thus the world destroyed by Nuclear holocaust is understandable as a story element). Joshua is woken a hundred years later to a world that is nothing like the one he remembers. Bows and arrows and swords are the weapons o...more

This is probably the most obscure YA series I got into at that age. Goofy and preachy as it can be at times, this brings back plenty of good memories, and I'm sure it can still inspire fun times for younger teens today. This book would be best for the teen crowd who has already devoured the Chronicles of Narnia and needs another (more overtly Christian-slanted) fix.

This series is probably the first that I ever chose to start reading (The Chronicles of Narnia was my first, but mom read the first two to me). and for those of you who know me, this is the book that made me like to write poetic riddles. I enjoyed ever minute of these ten books and because I liked them so well, even read a civil war romance series by Mr. Morris as well. And for me, that's saying something!

It's about our world when there is a nuclear bomb attack. 7 teanagers are put in capsoles to sleep until they can make the world right. The boy wakes up 50 years later, and goes on a quest to wake the other six sleepers. He has to go against the Sanhedrian with only the belief of Goel on his side.

This is by far the best book in the series. Lots of interesting characters are developed here, but sadly, most are dropped off in the next book, only occasionally re-appearing in the next ones. This is definitely a teen book, but well done for that age group.

I read this book when I was a child, and 13 years later reading it again for the second time, its still just as interesting and engaging as the first time I read it. Wonderful book, I will definitely read the rest of the series too.

I grew up reading this series & ended up rereading it until the books were shredded. The rank up with The Chronicles of Narnia for me.

The first 2 chapters of this book were good. I think that this is a good book to read. It was about a 14 year old kid, Joshua, who has to go to sleep for 50 years because of a nuclear war. Years after the nuclear war Joshua wakes up and finds there is a group of people controling the country unfairly. Joshua has to wake up 6 other sleepers in order to make life more fair. He has to escape being captured and survive. Will Joshua survive and make life better and more fair again?

Pretty good, a little odd at times but unique which is always nice. Looking forward to the next few books.

Great book. Not a chronicle of Narnia, but I am looking forward to reading the others.

Because of an impending nuclear war, 7 teens (sleepers) are put into capsules where they will wake many years later and have to fight the enemy every step of the way. The first teen to wake is Josh and with the help of Nuworlders, locates the other sleepers. One of the group betrays their trust and one is deceived into aiding the enemy.

This series is great if you're a parent and you want to train your children to love long fantasy series.

As an adult, it's kind of stupid. Still, it entertained me as a child.

This first book is definitely a set-up for the later books in the series, but it was still as great as the best of them. I enjoyed it immensely.
Brian
Probably my favorite series when I was in high school.
Sandy
My kids liked this book much more than I did. So, we will continue to read the series.
