I have recently fallen in love with a new heroine.

Cin Craven is such a great heroine, and my favorite thing about this series is that she and her consort Michael stay faithful to each other. You don't get that too often in a UF series.

It's 1828, it's been about 14 yrs since the first book, since Cin died/became a vampire. In the beginning we see Cin taking her yearly 2 week long vacation back in her home to visit her family. What we see (that is usually touched upon but...more

I read and reviewed Jenna Maclaine’s first book “Wages of Sin”. When I did, I said I was looking forward to her next book and was interested to see where her characters were going. Well, “Grave Sins” was just as enjoyable for me as the first one and even with the glut of paranormals on the market today, I think Maclaine offers something a bit different and well worth the read.

It’s been 13 years since Cin ‘died’ and became a ...more

Second in the Cin Craven romantic urban-fantasy series.

The Story
The purpose of The Righteous is to preserve law and order throughout the vampiric lands and as such, The Righteous comes under the authority of the High King in Ireland. One of those laws is that no vampire may kill a human for fear of coming to the attention of humans. It seems that Marrakesh, the Queen to MacLeod's King of the Western Lands, is guilty of breaking that law for 17 men have died, albeit under mysterio...more

So I started this book and was a little confused and kept turning back pages whenever Venice was mentioned and the dark wizard fight. I felt like I'd missed a good sized portion of the story...which I did of course. I only found this out AFTER I finished the book though. There is a short story between books 1 and 2 called Dark Sins that apparently has this story in it. I'll admit it annoyed me to realize that reading that would have solved a lot of confusion. Anyway on with th...more

It took me awhile, but I finally got a hold of the 2nd book in the Cin Craven series by Jenna MacLaine! I was able to remember what happened previously, as there were hints of that in this 2nd novel.

This is a brief summary that hopefully doesn't give too much away!

Set in 1828, Cin Craven is a witch, vampire, and an immortal warrior who is a member of the Righteous - a group of vampires who carry out judgement and punishment for the High King of vampires. Cin is still a fai...more

Magic, murder and mystery, Cin is in trouble again. Only this time it's not quite her fault. Dulcie "Cin" Cravan is visiting her human relatives at her former home (Ravenworth Hall) while on vacation from her duties as one of The Righteous, when the Sentinel of the High King, Drake, arrives with a mission. Drake explains they must visit the home of the Queen of the Western Lands, Marrakesh, to determine if the report of her braking vampiric law by killing humans is true. The Righteou...more

This series is just a heck of a lot of fun. In this book, we got to find more out about the intricacies of vampire society. We got to see how Cin has found her place with The Righteous, and we got to meet a vampire king and queen. And we even got to see some more of Woof.

What I think I enjoyed best was seeing Cin and Michael work out their relationship. They utterly love each other, but as the newlywed-style passion wears away, they have to get down to the nitty-gritty of makin...more

Lots of fun! I really enjoyed Graves Sins as much as I did the first book in the series, The Wages of Sin, and I'm looking forward to Bound By Sin.
I like that this series is not very dark and doesn't seem to take itself too seriously. If you are a stickler for things like characters using language appropriate to the times they live in, though, you may be a little put off. In this case it doesn't bother me, because it seems to flow with the spirit of the story.
I feel I should also add...more

I took a quick break from another book during an unexpected day off of work and managed to finish this yummy vampire romance/mystery before noon. Like the first in the series, I could not put this one down. Cin Craven is an excellent heroine, powerful but young and unsure. While her love affair is a bit over-the-top and unrealistic, it is also a wonderful fantasy (as long as you remember that is just what it is).

One of my favorite elements of this series, besides the strong femal...more

Ms. Maclaine I you!

I sat down to start reading Grave Sins and didn’t get up till I was finished. It was that fantastic.

The second Chapter in Maclaine's magical adventure series kicks off with Cin and Michael trying to have a vacation. When a murder mystery is thrown their way they have to end their holiday abruptly and head to the scene of the crime.

The trip turns heated and threatens to tear Michael and Cin apart at every turn while the mystery remains unsol...more

First of all, to be honest, I was a bit disappointed in this story. While it was entertaining and I enjoyed it for the most part, the mystery part of it was entirely predictable. Nothing surprised me in this book and for that I was disappointed.

This story takes place in 1828, 13 years after the first book and 10 years after the novella Dark Sins that's in the Strange Brew anthology. In this story, Cin and the Righteous are brought to Edinburgh, Scotland because the vampire queen of the...more

I like this book better then the first one - but there were a few holes in it that bothered me -

I know sometimes when I'm reading I will skim over some of the details of how her Aunt is dressed today - or what the garden reminds her of from when she was 8 years old -
And sometimes I"ll skim over flashbacks in the middle of the book that may seem a little more important - but usually isn't - I skim it - I don't skip it -

Slight spoiler ...

I really enoyed this 2nd book in the series. The author had a captive audience with me, I was on the edge of my seat to find out what would happen next.
Cin, our heroine, is a vampire and a powerful witch. She is forced to use dark black magic deeply hidden inside her to save someone she loves.
Her feelings are compounded by a dark, very old and mysterious vampire that arrives on her doorstep with a job for THE RIGHTOUS. Cin finds herself at a crossroads in this novel, not sure what d...more

Liked this story featuring The Righteous, vampire enforcers for the High King. Cin Craven is the youngest member of the team, a powerful vampire witch. Loved her relationship with her consort, the sexy Michael. The other two members of the team are also a couple, Devlin and Justine. Enjoyed the interactions between Cin and the rest of The Righteous, as they seemed like real friends who worked well together.

This wasn't your typical romance, as Cin and Michael are already a committed c...more

Well that was just flipping infuriating.

Good story but Ms MacLaine really needs to avoid mysteries- she is not good at them. I saw this coming from the very first mention of the baddy. I think a bit more research on the part of the author into how not to make it blindingly obvious would be good.

Cin is fabulous but a few distractions especially jealousy-related ones, from the 'mystery' don't work when you have an intelligent heroine. I don't for one minute believe her char...more

I really liked this one and prefer it a little bit more to the first one, maybe because we already the characters and aren't learning about a new world. Although I thought it was fairly obvious who the culprit was I still enjoyed the mystery and though I guessed most things there were still a few suprises. I liked that this went it to Cin and Micheal's relationship more and you got to see them as a couple, although they don't quite have the intensity of Cat and Bones from th...more

Synopsis: Cin, a witch/vampire, is a now member of The Righteous, a band of slayers that hunts down vampires who inflict evil upon the world. With Michael by her side, Cin’s latest mission brings her face-to-face with Marrakesh, a beautiful, half-mad vampire queen charged with slaughtering humans. If she’s found guilty, Marrakesh will pay with her life. But Cin is convinced that someone —or something—far more ruthless is trying to steal the queen’s throne.. It’s a mission that will pit Michael a...more

I found Grave Sins much more entertaining in the mystery build up in the story than the Grave Sins. For me, the more mystery a story has to it, the better. This time around, all through reading, I was left trying to figure out who the actual villain was because everyone seemed suspect. In the end I did guess who it was but it was one of my many guesses.

Being that it's now 13 years later, Cin has become more sophisticated. She was also very appreciative of her consort in many thorough...more

There are not words to describe how much I despise that plot of "Let's introduce new characters and make the main couple think there's cheating going on." I hate how authors play around with such a serious topic. Cheating hurts everyone and I don't like worrying about characters I have put my trust in. I want to believe in the idea that a couple can trust each other unequivically. I want to believe that they believe in each other. I think that's why cheating bothers me so much, or even...more
Something's Gotta Give
I think so far that this is my favorite Cin book.

An allegedly crazy Vampire Queen, with the ability to see everything about a person just by touching them. Angry Vampire Mobs. Black Magic. Raunchy Sex (just enough). There are a few other things... but it would spoil it for those of you who haven't read it yet...

My only complaint on this one... Cin and Micheal's jealousy.

Same fluffy, sexy goodness. Not earth-shattering or anything, but fun. I did kind of wish there were a book devoted to what happened in Venice rather than this whole mysterious "oooh, what happened in Venice" stuff. Other than that, fine. I want more werewolf, but I usually do.

I skipped book 1 and went straight to book 2 mostly by mistake, but it was an easy quick read. I enjoyed the story, and didn't really see the twist coming. Cin is powerful, protective, and toxic. A redhead witch made vampire...whose motive is to protect those she loves, and keep the peace so she can just freaking go on vacation!!

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this book but once I started reading it I found I really enjoyed it, Cin being half witch/vampire, fighting to keep michael by her side even with drake trying to take her from him.

i like this book because she and Michael have to see how much they love each other. they have a job to do and she and Michael have to go against each other because she thinks that the queen is innocence and Michael thinks that she is guilty.

Great great great read!! One of my favorite lines: "I'm heading out before I forget I'm not evil and eat her." Her aunt Maggie reminds me of my Gramma -all 5 ft of her.

Another great book from Jenna Maclaine. The Cin Craven series, is a very interesting read. I exceptionally enjoye the mixture of Witches and Vampires. This book takes place thirteen years after the first book. I felt that Maclaine did a tremendous job linking the two novels with so many years in between. The future of Michael and Cin is gut wrenching with the conforntation that took place in this book, and the doubt that seems to be existing throughout the end of the book. I look forward to the ...more
