"Bones of Makaidos" is the final book in the Oracles of Fire series. The book picks up with the most of the main characters in second Eden. The rest are in the earth where Sapphira and Elam grew up. In second Eden Billy and Walter have been going on missions to take out potential threats while the people of second Eden prepare for war. While on a mission Walter is critically injured scaring everybody but he eventually survives. Bonny is captured by Devin despite of the Shiloh being a hoax to pro...more
The Bones of Makaidos may be my favorite book of all time. It is full of epic battles, a touching romance, fiery trials, and the answer to the questions of many: What is an Oracle of Fire? The beautiful wedding reveals the benefits of purity, as the virgin bride and child of doubt come before the alter to join hands in marriage. Friends separated by time, distance, and even different dimensions are reunited. It offered a magnificent conclusion, with a “Happily Ever After” feel, yet emitted a bit...more

Completely and unutterably fantastic. I could go on for a long while about how much I love Bryan Davis' writing, his characters, his stories, his creativity, his message, his melding of history and contemporary fantasy, his poetry...but suffice it to say that Dragons In Our Midst and Oracles of Fire are hands-down two of my favorite series of all time, and I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. Bryan Davis has just about the best handle on character development I've ever seen. The...more
The Bones of Makaidos (by Bryan Davis) is a fantasy-christian novel from the series of Oracles of Fire.
The book is about Billy Bannister, Bonnie Silver, Ashley Stalworth, Walter Foley, and Sapphira Adi; five young adults who's mission is to save Second Eden, a peaceful uncorrupted world in a different dimension. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good chase, and all the events leading to one epic finale in the ending. However, I would suggest reading the rest of the series first....more

The Bones of Makaidos won the 2010 Clive Staples Award for Christian Speculative Fiction, and it definitely deserves the hype! This fast-paced conclusion to the Oracles of Fire series is quite honestly my favorite of Bryan Davis’s books. It’s masterfully written, and the pages flew by at a breakneck pace! I couldn’t wait to find out what happens! It’s been amazing to journey with these characters through their trials and adventures, and this book brings those adventures to a stunning, exciting,...more
Bryan Davis' The Bones of Makaidos is a compelling novel that drags the reader into the story and gives them new renditions of the ways people should act and feel.
A theme in this book is that waiting is not to be despised, but to be loved for the challenges that it presents. The author gives perspectives of many of the main characters. You see from the eyes of the good and the evil characters. He gives you just enough information to force you to long to read the next page, and then the one after...more

The Bones of Makaidos is a stunning epic, and my favorite of all the books. Are Heroes have been training for four long years to meet the enemies army that seeks to destroy Second Eden. Are heroes have all grown up faster in Second Eden, and Bonnie and Sapphira find themselves in a realm that they never knew existed, the lowest realm of all The Valley of Souls, where these souls await resurrection to life, and the only way to get out alive is to be consumed by fire. Sapphira and Bonnie under go...more
I started this book confident that I would love it. I couldn't see why I wouldn't--it was about two and a half inches thick, and was the conclusion of the series, so I was sure that it would be epically amazing. Well, it certainly was an epic, but not in the amazing way.
I was seriously disappointed.
I hoped that everything that I hadn't really understood in the past books would make sense in this one. No such luck. The storytelling was fine, as usual, but it just went on and on and on. Before l...more

The climax of the eight book series and sequel series. I don't know what to say about the plot actually. It was fast-paced as usual. Exciting and original. But those are just adjectives. It certainly was a great way to end the series, though. After reading it I simply can't put my reactions to word.
there is only one thing I remember having trouble with in this book. At the half-way point in the book you really have to force yourself through. It is just really dry. The first two chapters in the s...more

This book is literally one that I did not want to put down. Being in college, it was so hard to set it aside and do my homework, but once all my other obligations were taken care of, I picked this book up and just devoured it with my mind.
At first, I was not sure if I liked how there were so many characters to follow, so many story-lines, but in the end, Mr. Davis reveals how powerful a story he created. You get caught up in the lives of these fictional characters. I laughed, I cried, I wanted...more

I waited a long time to read this book, but let me tell you, it was well worth the wait! The Bones of Makaidos is a beautiful end to one of the best series of books I've ever read. I loved the character development and the overall balance this book has, it's truly amazing. Bryan Davis has done such a fabulous job with these books, I highly recommend them to everyone!
After reading "Last of the Nephilim" I didn't think that Bryan Davis could get any better. I WAS WRONG!!! This book was the best ending I could have asked for. It brought complete closure to the series. It was a bittersweet feeling though. It felt that I was losing the friends that I have spent the last 5 or so years getting to know. This is definitely a top book for my MUST RECOMMEND list. I will definitely be reading this over and over again for years to come. It applies to all aspects of life...more
It is made of goodness, win, and shipper squee!
This is an amazing book! The plot was excellent, it makes you come alive with the characters! I read this book in like 2 days it was so good! You wont be disappointed by reading this book! EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT ending!
It's kinda sad because you know it's going to end, but you also feel happy at the same time because of the ending. :)
Thanks Mr. Davis for making me learn to love reading!
