I did not know this book was part of a series until after I had gotten into it a few pages. However the book was still readable and a good book even tho I had not read the first book in the series. There were a few refer back mentions of things that had happened previously but not enough to kill this story for me.

Twenty years ago, Jessie Brentwood disappears without a trace. Her friends think she has run away since she was a habitual runaway and also because she was adopted. Now twenty years lat More...

I see that many of the other reviewers didn't like this. Again, I am going to have to disagree. I don't usually like Lisa Jackson's work, but I picked this up because I felt like reading something light (to me, this is light) and I thought this book was suspenseful enough to hold my interest and keep me reading. It was a mystery as well as a romance, and I liked how I did not figure it out before the ending. The characters were realistic and did not seem like the carbon cutouts most romantic sus More...

I’m not a fan of books written from multiple points of view, like this one. I feel it doesn’t allow me to truly get to know and empathize with any one character, and that was true of this book.

Paranormal stuff has to be handled very deftly to be engaging to me – otherwise it feels overdone – and this book was walking a fine line where that was concerned. I also did not care for the italicized text from the “antagonist.” Even the romance was too goody-goody for me; I wanted more struggle, especia More...

Overall, Wicked Game wasn't a bad book. The story was interesting, the plot wasn't predictable for the most part, and by the end I didn't feel like I'd wasted my time.

However, I didn't really feel like I'd gotten full value, either. Most of the problems with this book seem to be purely technical -- the author was far too wordy, the characters were kind of bland, and there were some parts that were just ridiculously unrealistic.

Example 1: "He had a fondness for Armani suits paid for by his wealth More...

This one started off very promising. It had the feel of a cold case mystery, a who done it and a little paranormal romance element as well. But about half way through the plot drifted way off course. People cropped up that had nothing whatsoever to do with anything going on in the first half, and while a slight mystery was wrapped up involving the first half characters, the last half didn't satisfy. We never got a clear picture of what was going on there and it seems like the authors got into a More...

This book is definitely forgettable. Half the book is about high school friends reuniting to rehash whether their friend Jessie left town or whether she really did die. Another 40% of the book is spent with a series of pointless deaths. The remaining pages of the book attempt to tie the story together but fails miserably. It kind of tells a story of incest and some man who is trying to kill two women who he thinks are the devil spawn but it doesn't really go into too much detail. The book is wri More...

I usually enjoy Lisa Jackson's suspense novels, but maybe I have read too many of them recently. This one seemed a bit predictable and dragged a little in places. Overall, it was still a fairly good suspenseful story that I enjoyed for the most part.

A body is found buried in the maze at St. Elizabeth's school. Everyone believes the bones belong to Jessie, a high school girl who disappeared with no trace about 20 years earlier. Her friends were all questioned back then during their high school y More...

This is the first collaboration that I've read of Lisa Jackson and her sister, Nancy Bush. I liked it, but I felt it was still missing something. To me the book kept on dragging for too long before the story took off. According to the synopsis, each of the victim's friends were supposed to die in freak accidents, but that was far from the truth!

I really liked the reignited romance between the two main characters, Becca Sutcliffe and Hudson Walker; I'm glad they got a second chance to start thing More...

This is the first book I've read from either of these authors and I have to say I was sucked right in from the beginning. Usually, I figure out the plots way before the end and those authors that manage to confuse me are those I respect the most. The way this was laid out, the story and the characters were well done. I have to admit that I sat through the super Bowl and read this during the time outs and the dull commercials...but then again, I was pretty close to the end and just had to see wha More...

The plot is somewhat interesting, but the writing is so bad that the plot can't save it. It's a mystery, with supernatural overtones, and a romance.

The writing is overblown melodramatic style that is impossible to ignore. The heroine dithers and swoons and flutters. Every time the phone rings, she jumps and drops whatever is in her hands. It's full of frissons running through various body parts, cold chills, feelings of doom, senses of being watched and followed, mysterious noises that are neve More...

Technically this book achieved all I could want from a new book: a heroine I liked and saw emotional growth in, a hunky good guy for the hero, a storyline quite different than what I've read lately, more than one plot twist and chills and thrills galore. Ms. Jackson & Ms. Bush (this book was written with her sister) added a strong secondary character line with McNalley the detective and his iffy partner Gretchen. And finally, they left the door open for more of the same in future books.

I had high hopes for this book, as it's written by two well-known authors- sisters Lisa Jackson and Nancy Bush- but I was rather let down. The action promised in the book synopsis did come into play until literally half way through the book. The glimpses into the villians thoughts were trying after a while, and I felt the ending kind of limped to the finish line. The ending left itself open for sequels that Lisa Jackson is apparently going to write herself. I won't be tuning into the next instal More...

Twenty years ago, Jezebel "Jessie" Brentwood disappeared -- some thought she ran away, while others weren't so sure what happened to her.

Fast forward 20 years to the present -- an old school is being razed. Teenage boys who are messing around the old building stumble across a skeleton.

Are the bones those of Jessie Brentwood? What about the other bones found near these? What really happened 20 years ago and who is responsible?

The answers will surprise you!

Romantic suspense at its best! More...

Wicked Game is co-written by two sisters, Lisa Jackson and Nancy Bush who live in the Pacific Northwest. The book held my interest all the way through. I enjoyed the suspense intermingled with places that are familiar to me. I do wish I hadn't been left confused about the villains motives and how he actually did connect to the two main victims. Maybe it will be more fleshed out in a future book? Who knows. The ending certainly did lead me to believe there might be a sequel.

this was the book that i read in 20 minute increments as i soaked in our bain ultra, finishing it on dry land. there are actually two authors, one being nancy bush who is lisa jackson's sister, and an author in her own write--ho, ho. it has an interesting plot--could the murderer be one of the group of friends from high school years ago? Perhaps too many of the group end up dead? it's a decent read, and at 474 pages, not a lightweight.

This was the first book of Lisa Jackson I have read. I was drawn by the cover. Read the first two pages as was hooked. The PB was going out to another patron so I placed book on reserve. After a week I received it and read it in a few days. It peaked my interest and once started it kept my attention. With all the twists and turns I could not figure out who the murderer was until I was told in the end.

I literally could not put this book down. It wasn't QUITE what I expected from the synopsis on the back of the book, but it was well worth the read. There was some predictability to the book, but the story line was interesting enough to keep me wanting to know what happens next. I'm currently looking to see if there is or will be a sequel. I'd really like to know where the characters go from here.

This book can be filed under S for strange. Although it wasn't a great read it certainly wasn't horrible either. I'm really not all that interested in reading the sequel, however lucky for the authors I am the type who will go nuts if I don't get resolution to this story. The end really left more questions than answers and now I'll have to wait to find out the truth.

Everyone is pretty sure the body is Jezebel "Jessie" Brentwood, including her high school friends. One of those friends, Becca, has been having visions of Jessie ever since the body was found. Little does Becca know, someone wants her dead because of her connection to the dead girl. This was a thrilling book. It even gave me dreams at one point, and not good ones. I realize now I've gotten to the end that it wasn't that scary, but there was a good amount of scare. The love story between Becca an More...

Good book, but I still have not figured out the colony women and where they are from and where they really get there powers. Like what is up with the extra rib bone? I started reading the second book in this series before I realized it was a series so I put it down and grabbed this one to try and answer some of my questions and even though it did some I feel like I have more now especially about the colony and all the women living there.

Dragged horribly, introduced more mysteries at the end than solved, 3/4 of the book was taken up with red herrings and how THEY were resolved, leaving very little that was actually about the story itself. Very obviously setting itself up for a sequel, doesn't really stand alone very well.

I thought this book was pretty awesome. I'm not a big fan of books involving murder, but this one was great. After two different people practically begged me to read this book, I started flipping through the pages and was hooked almost instantly!

This book was all mixed up. At times it read like a cheap romance novel, others like a good mystery and at others like something that was just tossed out there because of the author's name. Parts of the book were interesting but overall this was a disappointment.
