Recommends it for: Cooks who want to experience food of the Pacific North-West
It WAS rather fun to dip back into this book whilst reading Jackson Tippett McCrae’s “Barring Some Unforeseen Accident”!

I bought “Portland’s Palate” in Waldenbooks, in Portland Oregon for $19.95; the perfect memento of a very enjoyable holiday. From a souvenir point of view, the lovely illustrations continue (19 years later) to add great value. There’s also sufficient space on the page for me to be able to record the weight of ingredients I’ve measured (first time only) by volume. Very useful.

Recommends it for: cooking fans
This cookbook has some really tasty recipes; they run the gamut from time consuming to easy, so depending on what you have time for, pick the recipe. Spicy chicken chili, burgundy beef, and gourmet Chinese chicken salad are a few of my favorites. PLUS, proceeds from the sale of this book benefits the Junior League of PDX, which serves the disabled, the elderly, women and children, the arts, historic preservation, and the environment... does banging around in the kitchen get any more noble than t ...more

Pretty pictures, nothing very original to it. Easy Chicken Elegance, page 187, (chicken in puff pastry), I have made several times. It is impressive when served, and also very very good.
