Why are efforts to improve falling so short in real results despite the millions of dollars in time, capital, and human effort being spent on them? How do we unleash the creativity, talent, and energy within ourselves and others in the midst of pressure? Is it realistic to believe that ba...more

While it has a good message, I found it to be somewhat drawn out.

I love Covey; he really goes in depth while keeping everything plain and simple. This book basically goes over four levels of Leadership; Personal, Interpersonal, Managerial and Organizational and how you will succeed at each level by applying the key corresponding principles; Trustworthiness, Trust, Empowerment and Alignment.
If you are familiar with Covey you will tie a lot of these principles with other of his concepts, I felt this gave me an extra layer of understanding. Read It!

This is an excellent book that shows how to implement the 7 Habits of Highly-Effective People in organizations and relationships. I think that this book gives great insights into effective human resource planning and strategy. You have to look at your organization as a whole and people as a whole. What motivates? What inspires to do better? A mission and common goal are important. I found the chapters on managing expectations, and involving and empowering people very interesting...especially bec...more
Stephen Covey did well for me with his books in primarily turning self-improvement from a pursuit for its own end, to one where I make genuine changes and for the right reasons.
He has helped me discover my reasons for wanting to be better, and at the same time has given me lasting lessons on how to do it long-term, and over and over in my life as new things come to my awareness.

Who would not like our political leaders to practice the type of leadership described in this book, especially in the contentious climate that seem to be the rule these days? As for the book itself, the constant repetition of the same ideas becomes tedious after a while, though I understand that it is a compendium of articles written for different audiences.
This has been one of the best books on life I have read in some time. I would agree with many of the other reviewers that this was a fairly repetitive book, and normally I would have only given something like this 4 stars, but the difference for me was that the concepts are powerful enough that it deserves a lot of praise. The book is a good companion to Covey's phenomenal 7 Habits book, by acting as a new lens through which to view the 7 Habits concepts. This book illustrates how the use of so...more
This book resonnated with me. The author's main point is that many of our leaders (in businesses, politics, and even in families) should reconsider their paradigms. They should consider what is driving their decisions -- a set of static rules or a set of principles. It was a quick read that I am sure to read again.
This book offered excellent insight into leadership, power, and how we become principle-centered leaders. I highly recommend the book for teachers, business owners, and people who are interested in looking at themselves and their leadership qualities. This book was a part of my certification homework for Forrest Yoga.
really enjoyed reading this book, Stephen Covey really homed in a specific part of the classic 7 habits books, really a great book all round from a real expert, relevant for personal life as well as business

Equally applicable to your personal & professional lives. True leadership starts by working from the inside (on yourself) outward. I'd include this as required reading (and as a refresher course for some who read it before) for a lot of the leaders I encounter.
