This book summarizes Einstein's special and general theory of relativity using cartoon drawings to illustrate every concept. It does not shy away from physical formulae, neither does it provide in depth discussion of same. I had to read this book in order to learn Relativity for a Discovery classroom series I was writing. Make no mistake, if you're not good with math and geometry, this is a pretty tough read. BUT, it is about as good an intro (utilizing plenty of humor, analogies and comic-booky illustrations) into the amazingly baffling and heady concepts of Einstein as you're likely to find without oversimplifying the theory. It stays true to it's name. It is a basic introductory book. Doesn't explain everything but gives you the basic idea's.


*To be honest I enjoyed the art more than the explanations.
*How the arguments and counter arguments are presented.
*Language and lightness of the book.

I was able to understand special relativity from this volume and the Introducing Einstein volume, but I can't say I understand general relativity after reading this. I probably should have read up on physics before reading this, because there's just not enough text to explain it. I enjoyed reading it and enjoyed the illustrations, though.
This text is a good companion to Introducing Time: they both cover lots of material about the physical nature of our universe.
I like this series of books. It gives me subjects that are above my head and manages to present them in a way that even I can start to at least understand what it is all about in a general sense.

The drawings are fun and help to make the matter more clear, the text is concise and entertaining. Main remark is that it leaves a lot unsaid, but I guess that is to be expected of a book that serves as introduction.
Granted that it is a difficult job to explain the theory of relativity to a beginner, it could be done in a much better and clearer way than this book does. There were quite a few loose points and not very obvious links between them, which required clarification. The book is still worth the time though for those not familiar with the subject. Graphics make it more fun to read and easier to understand.

The authors offer a multitude of mathematicians and physicists ideas and theories. There is an attempt to simplistically weave them together into some kind of quantum ideal which might support relativity. Most often intertwined, just sort of, kind of supporting each other. I got some of it, not very concise, I enjoyed the illustrations more than the book.
While it gave a nice overview of Relativity and its implications, it eventually became a bit too math-focused to truly be understood by utter non-math types like myself. Still, definitely worth a look, if your curious, and the format is very enjoyable.
A great explanation of the almost unexplainable.
