I have chosen this book to review as it is one that particularly stands out in my mind going back to my earlier years of finishing primary school and entering second level. This writing is based around a young girl who begins, in the shadow of her “skinny beautiful model” friends, to self deprecate and struggle with weight and appearance issues. It is a book that portrays some very serious issues around self esteem, and zones in on the dynamics of the pressures of being a teenager in the 21st ce More...

Girls Under Pressure should honestly be read by each and every girl living in this world. IT IS SO EDUCATIONAL (Girl-wise)!!!
Let's get to the fun part then.
The thing with this book is the way is has been written, by the point of view of our main character Ellie, who is one of the funniest characters I have had the joy to "read". She is your normal teenage girl struggling through her weight problem and looks. The way in which Ellie describes herself and her "adventures" More...

This is a good book for young teens to read. There are four books in this short series. Girls In Love, Girls under pressure, girls out late and girls in tears. They are all about four girls Ellie, Magda and Nadine. The books are about typical issues that all have to face. New step parents, weight and the media. Boyfriends and sex and many more. They are very amusing and also teach powerful life lessons to young teens that they need to learn. I liked them all and am very glad I read them.

I have read it now and it was really, really good!
It was fantastic in fact! It was great because: it was about a girl named Ellie and she has 2 best sriends named Nadine&Magda. Ellie says they are very slim and look like models. She calls herself Ellie the Elephant because she says she's really fat!(awwwwww) She goes shopping with her friends and there is a modelling audition for a magazine, her friends enter but people in the que shout out: "She's fat, she could never be a model!" this is the first time that i like a book like this:
ellie thinks she looks awful. her best friends are both drop-dead gorgeous, she is sick of being the ugly duckling. so she goes on a diet, and even start to exercice, much to her friends and her gym teacher's amazement. ellie hungry all the time, she works out every spare second, and she's turned into nasty grouch ......

I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one, really I think my score would be around 3.5 stars for both books. I think this book is a little more grown up than 'Girls In Love' and deals with serious issues very well. The focus was much more on Ellie this time, and the girls had separate stories rather than grouping together as a whole.

Ellie bener2 minder karna dia merasa kalau dirinya gemuk.

I have to give this book at 4 stars, mainly because this book-series was my ultimate favourite when I was in my early teens. Back then, I felt like they were some of the few books that actually got how being that age was like. It's a good and funny book and the characters are well-written and quite realistic.

I'm a bit torn over this book. The girls... series by Jacqueline Wilson is such a great series that captures the essence of growing up in 90's/early 2000s England and I loved the other two.

I read this whilst in recovery from my eating disorder, not knowing what it was about and it did make my opinion of the characters change a lot. Maybe it's because she portrayed it so realistically that it hit close to home, but for some reason I couldn't finish the book.

Masalah yang dihadapi Ellie lebih berat dari buku pertama. Dan pesan dari buku ini sangat, sangat penting buat gadis-gadis remaja, tanpa kesan menggurui sama sekali. Yah, khas Jacqueline Wilson lah!

Recommended buat para orang tua yang punya anak perempuan ABG...sekaligus buat anak-anak perempuannya :)

An excellent read for teenage girls, Jacqueline Wilson captures the problems and worries of teen girls well and is able to portray them in an amusing and entertaining way. A very enjoyable read and one of my favourite books from when I was a teenager.

From this book? It made me really fear the idea of anorexia. Because it really did shock you into seeing what you were doing too yourself. So anytime I'd even contemplate about skipping meals or what not, or ever think about stopping eating to get thinner, I would just think about this book, and how much it impacted on me. And it stopped me from ever once going for it, which, I might have done otherwise. So that is why this book is awesome.

Every teenage girl ever should read this boo More...

8/10. I really enjoyed this when I read it back in high school. I could relate to the main character and her struggles in many ways, and actually liked her.

This book is really nice , but personally , I didn't like it for me , because it talk about Ellie , a teenage girl , who had problems with how she looks , and decides to go on a diet , but I didn't like it , because I'm honestly not that chubby :P anyways , its a nice book that girls who don't like how they look would actullay like and enjoy it , and would learn a lesson through Ellie :)

When I saw this book in the middle of 2010, I was like 'this book is gonna be cool.' why? because it discuss about the problem most teenage girl have : weight and diet problem. I spend quite long time read it (because of school-thingy) but, in the end, i regret nothing. It give us a message, that beauty comes from the inside. Don't ever let society defines the kind of beauty. It's YOU who decide whether you're beauty or not.

And after reading this book, I don't really want to get skinny More...
