The editor (Rachel Kramer Bussel) sent this book to me to read and post a review on (which is forthcoming). The cover and title makes it seem 'naughtier' than it is, so it wasn't quite what I was expecting. This is a collection of nonfiction... essays, blog posts, etc... about sex-related topics. Among the areas addressed are purity agreements, the effect of post traumatic stress on a soldier's sex life, how the Bush administration's scare tactics affected the BDSM 'industry', online ...more

The book was definitely not what I expected, but many of the essays on sex in USA are quite interesting and occasionally amusing.

However, for the casual non-US reader, the sheer number of essays dedicated to how religion, morals and other stuff messes up sex is a bit high... just get off it already! ;)

I've decided I like this series, and I eventually want to read all of the books. I think it's awesome that someone is collecting sex-themed articles and publishing them in annual collections.

My favorite pieces in this volume are "One Rape, Please (to Go)" by Tracie Egan (which is potentially triggering, so beward); "Sex Offenders!!" by Kelly Davis (also potentially triggering); "Soulgasm" by Dagmar Herzog; "Silver-Balling" by Stacey D'Erasmo; "Sex Dolls for the Twenty-First Century" by David Lev

Sex journalism/blogging/books, not erotica. Good stuff in here, both serious (re: PTSD in war veterans and how it damages their sex lives) to hysterical (a professional dominatrix writing an open letter to President Bush). All very high quality stuff.

Like any collection, some of it is 'eh,' some of it is fantastic ... definitely worth a read, if only to recognize that sex writing can (and should!) be great.

The cover looks provocative---the writing is less than. Not what you think, but interesting nontheless
