Wow, I'm reviewing the final book of the original Magic Tree House Series! From now on, it's only MM (Merlin Missions) ahead! I fear what will be in store for me, what wil happen to everything else I know? That Jack and Annie knows?

I love that there is a tsunami in this book, but it was written as to sound like only a big wave. No buildings were wiped out and nothing super tragic happened.

Jack was a bit mean because he couldn't surf right away and quit after falling just once More...

We started this book about 6 months ago.... halfway through Hannah didn't want to read it anymore, she said she didn't want to read any more Magic Tree House books anymore. The first half of this book was very slow and... dare I say, "boring"?, so I didn't blame her for wanting to stop. We didn't read the second half and I returned the book to the library. Just last week, Hannah came home with the book from her school library. We read the second half which was MUCH better than the f More...

Sean stopped reading the series with Thanksgiving on a Thursday but we had the next book checked out as well. I read High Tide in Hawaii on my own because I hate to return library books unread.

In High Tide in Hawaii Jack and Annie travel to Hawaii to either an island or a time when the Hawaiians are still living by traditional means. While there they learn how to surf and how to hula. They also survive a tsunami and save the villagers.

As it happened, I read the book right More...

These are great early chapter books for children. Jack and Annie are transported to Hawaii by the magic treehouse. They are to build some kind of ship to hellp rescue Morgan Le Fey the magical librarian. They meet 2 children who teach them how to surf. While Jack is on the beach, there is an earthquake and he gets everyone out of the ocean and out of dangers way...tsunami. Interestingly, this book was written before the 2004 tsunami.

Interesting story series about two children who travel to different times and places based on their guidance from Morgan le Fay and solve the riddles or mysteries that she gives them. In this case, they travel to ancient Hawaii and learn about Hawaiian customs. Interesting that they all speak English, though. :) Our girls enjoyed this book a lot.

Since number 28 is the latest Jack and Annie book we've read, I may as well post it, but this review applies to all of them. I began reading them to my 4- and 2-year-old and at first I didn't like these books. They are simply written and often simplistic. (I realize they are for young readers, so if my children were reading them on their own, this would be a different review.) That said, 28 books later, I have found that they've grown on me. Three things I like about them: 1) they give a good gl More...

This was a cute one with a little twist in the end that my daughters enjoyed, but maybe just because it was so quick to read. It did get my youngest excited about reading the series. I am afraid, however, that they are now afraid to go to Hawaii.

It was all about surfing, and here's the best parts of all - Jack saved his friends, Annie, Kama and Boka, from a gigantic tsunami that nearly washed them all out to sea and they became Magicians of Everyday Magic.

They go on a surf ride and they went again and there was a big earthquake and the waves started to get higher than the ground and the sea started to raise up. So they got on a high cliff and they didn't drown.

Another Magic Tree House book! They are pretty predictable but they are good for my children AND both my daughter and son like them! I really wish I had a tree house that I could travel through time and see the world!!!

I'm obviously too old for these books, [I'm 16] but they're like a guilty pleasure. I'm rating it three stars because they are basic and repetitive. However, they're great books for little kids!

I was anxious to read this story because I wondered why my younger brother loved this series so much. I thought it was very slow and boring. The story is cute though and I could see why a young reader would adore this series. I can see teachers planning curriculum alongside this historical fictional series in their classrooms.

This was a fun book! I loved it. I have always wanted to go to Hawaii. But I don't think I would like the sharks, tsunamis,or hurricanes. And I also would not like surfing.

I can see why a lot of the kids enjoy these books. There is a good story, always something to learn and it all ties up nicely for the next book in the series.

it was new when I read it, so i was very eager. But I think Mary Pope Osborne was trying to get my hopes up when she described how easy it was to surf

I read these books all the time when I was little! I love them as much as I did back then, even if the stories aren't at my level.

Despite the author's claim to have been reading about Hawaii before writing this book, the place she describes in the story is hardly Hawaiian.

Jack and Annie go to pre-contact Hawaii, where, conveniently, the Hawaiians speak English.
