I had the privilege of being sponsored by Mr. Speaker as a page while attending Ohio State. He, hands-down, was one of the most influential politicians in modern Ohio history. Under his leadership, the Democratic Party was able to maintain control of the Ohio House of Representatives after a very controversial redistricting as a result of the 1990 census.
