I found this in the teen room at the library. I'm thinking that it was an accidental purchase, since it's definitely geared to an adult audience, but when you read the blurb on the back it could really go either way. It's just when you get into the story-- ugh. If one of my male friends was behaving the way the main character was, I'd have encouraged him to seek psychiatric help rather than dating/marrying him. Will was not lovable. Will drove me nuts. Ick ick icky.

I wavered between listing this as 'unfinished' or 'read', because the last half of the book I merely skimmed, and even that was only because I'm reading this for a book club and wanted to be able to keep up with what the others were saying. It's like a male version of Bridget Jones' Diary, only worse. Really, really boring and - I guess - a genre that just doesn't appeal to me.

About 50 pages in to this book I realized that I was about 95% sure I read it during my chick-lit binge of the summer of 2003. I decided to finish it because A) one of my dearest friends recommended it and B) I had forgotten a lot of it and its a quick read, so why not? It was an okay book, but I didn't care for it as much the second time around. Turning 30 was better. Incidentally, I was reading some reviews by other goodreaders and one woman simply wrote "Not a book to accidentally read t...more

This book was touted as the male Bridget Jones and as a big fan of her's I thought I might like it. Will has got to be one of the most pathetic characters ever written and it took me a while to warm up to him and the pace of the book (the entire story takes place over 4 days, but there are flashbacks to explain things). It was interesting enough to keep me turning the pages to find out what happend next, but it won't go down in my list of favorites.

Like other reviewers, I read this book because the title caught my attention because it is so relatable. After a relationship ends, it's so difficult not comparing the next person to the "legendary" ex.
This book was terrible. It just kept dragging on and on. I kept reading it because I thought it had to get better, but it never did. The only reason this book is getting 2 stars instead of 1 is because I was actually able to finish it. Silly me.

Anyone who's ever gone through a rough breakup - and let's face it, that's all of us - will find literary comfort food in this book. The story spans the course of a weekend, starting with our hero's crushing breakup with his longtime girlfriend. We're with him through the various stages of angst and wondering, but somehow the read is comforting and even funny. I swallowed this book in one weekend and enjoyed the diversion.

I enjoy 'chick-lit' written from a man's perspective. Gives me a chance to view relationship-problems from the other side as well. Normally you think that a man doesn't suffer a lot after a break-up. Well, Will Kelly is an exception. And during one weekend his emotional life is about to change, with the help of a telephone and a handful of friends.

This book was often veeeeery slow, but I liked the main character. He was a likeable loser and that gets you points in my world. I saw a lot of humor and potential in the writing and definitely would read another book (more recent) by this author.

I read this book because the title struck close to home. The story is good and I totally connected to the main character. I haven't reached the same place the character has by the end. But I will.

Has potential, but is far too dense for the subject matter--I suppose one must keep in mind that it's meant to be written by an English teacher. It might make a good film if it were chopped up a bit.
