This guy sucks balls. Fuck paradigms. Fuck the three act arc. Rip 'The Chinatown' Screenplay from the middle of this book, read it until your eyes bleed and shit-can the rest.

Anyone interested in screenwriting.
Syd Field is an icon in Hollywood whose work is referenced as a standard amongst screenwriters. As I was once told by a successful Hollywood screenwriter when wishing to pursue the craft, "Read anything by Syd Field." His success speaks for itself. This is a great book as all his books are.

While this book does a good job explaining the overly formulaic yet frustratingly necessary structure of screenplays, the example script you are forced to read through is horrible.
