A comprehensive introduction to costume design. Well laid out and written, this is a good textbook for a beginning class or for reference. Much of it is a broad overview and, like most design introduction texts, it has a lot of the basic principles of design, which can get repetitive but really can't be stressed enough. Unlike many textbooks this edition was easy to read.

A decent text on theatrical costume design. I particularly like the section providing a sketch overview of each historic period showing the important points of that era's dress- makes a nice quick refresher. Contains a selection of basic adaptable pattern shapes including some specifics such as various man's coat styles, sleeve shapes.
