Every Light in the House Burnin' is made up of two interwoven parts - one is a family memoir which is very funny, and the other covers the narrator's father's death from cancer. This part is very sad, and quite unflinching. For a nurse it can be uncomfortable reading, as you get the impression that the general horribleness of the situation portrayed is all too commonplace. Semi-autobiographical story with a few funny parts but I'm afraid I found it overall, very depressing as one caring for elderly parents.
