The Question (The Morland Dynasty #25)
In the Morland Dynasty series, the majestic sweep of English history is richly and movingly portrayed through the fictional lives of the Morland family. It is 1898, and on the brink of a new century, the great stability of Victorian England is under threat. Europe is dividing into armed camps, while at home socialism and the suffragette movement challenge traditional value...more

This was ok. A bit slow &, dare I say it, a bit boring in places. CHE gets bogged down on the Boer War in the middle of the book, but it definitely picked up towards the end with the Suffrage Movement, the Suffragettes & "the question" of votes for women. I will say though, it is hard, neigh on impossible, to read about the fight for the vote thru the eyes of the political cynicism of the early 21st century. While not one of the best in the Morland Dynasty series, The Question proved to be another solid addition with some great moments.
This book opens in 1898 and follows the family into the 20th century. Significant events include the Boer War, the death of Queen Victoria, the suffragist movement, and the introduction of the motor car. As always, the Morlands experience the usual family transitions—births, debuts, marriages, new careers, deaths—and several events that are specific to their...more

The Morland family move into the 1900's in this book. Again, they are involved in the major historical events of the time, including the Boer War, death of Queen Victoria and the women's vote. Another pleasant instalment.
Deals with the death of Queen Victoria, the Boer War, and women's suffrage, as experienced by the Morland family.
