This is one of my favorite manga series. I read the whole series, and was devastated by the fact that it ENDS. I want it to go on and on forever. I want to keep seeing these wonderful characters and what they're up to.
The basic idea of it is this: Risa Koizumi is 5' 7". Atsushi Otani is 5'1". They're constantly fighting, a fact that the rest of the class finds very amusing, and for it they have been nicknamed 'All Hanjin-Kyojin', after a famous comedy duo.
The whole series is all about the relat...more
it was ok , I didn't really like it , it was just a school romance and people being silly , I read volume 1 to 3 , I got bored with it.
Risa Koisumi is the tallest girl in her class; Atsushi Ôtani is the shortest boy. They can't stand each other, especially since everyone at school compares them to a comedy team--think "Mutt and Jeff." Then they wind up having to go to summer school. There's a new boy --Suzuki--in their class. Risa is instantly attracted--after all, Suzuki is as tall as she is. Ôtani offers to help her get together with Suzuki if she'll help him get together with her friend, Chiharu Tanaka. What follows, as you...more

I LOVED THIS SERIES!! I watched the entire series through the anime, but Lovely Complex is my absolute FAVORITE anime of all time. And I'm pretty sure that the anime and the manga are alike (which is AWESOME because I can't stand it when they make the anime different from the manga).

Risa Koizumi is the tallest girl in her class, with a height of 170 cm (5'7" I believe...). Atsushi Otani is the shortest boy in class, with a height of 156cm (5'1"--which is tall...more

This rating and review is for the whole completed volumes.

3,5 stars.

Risa Koizumi is 172 cm, and Atsushi Otani is 159 cm tall. Both getting insecure toward their height, yet they're always being paired as a comedy duo. And when they're used to each other, they're slowly falling in love. But how more than 10 cm differences would work on them?

I just finished reading this now. I dropped it when I first read it back in 2005, because I still couldn't get the idea of 'a taller girlfriend' at that time....more
This is honestly one of the few Shojo series I've developed a genuine affection for. Risa Koizume, The tallest girl in school, and Atsushi Otani, the shortest guy, are constantly and unwillingly paired together (occasionally by chance but mainly due to nudges from their amused classmates, mutual friends even a teacher). The general amusement stems from Koizume and Otani's circumstantial resemblance to a Japanese comedy duo whose entire shtick revolves around a height discrepancy. Tired of being...more

Well, I read this series back in high school and I totally loved it!
amusing, hilarious and one of the BEST manga I've ever read. It was based on friendship and high school drama. Back in 2008, I was hooked I never wanted it to end and I totally felt empty when I finished reading it!!!
Completely different from the usual Shojo Manga out there, unique.

Risa is 5'7" and that is gigantic for a Japanese high school girl. She's so tall that no one wants to date her! But classmate Otani, a 5'1" boy, has the opposite problem, and despite that they're always paired up (even by teachers), and sometimes referred to as a comedy team because their arguments are hilarious. There's no way a boy that short can date a girl that tall, and they don't like each other that way ANYWAY, so they vow to help each other find partners even though they also sort of hav...more

Lovely Complex is a Japanese manga (or a Japanese comic book) about an average freshman girl searching for love. Risa Koizumi is the 5’7’’ outgoing female protagonist of the story. She is friends with another freshman named Otani Atsushi. Otani is the 5’1’’ humorous male protagonist of the story. Together, Otani and Risa are known as a comedy duo since they argue all the time. They are forced to attend summer school where Risa meets a boy named Suzuki and hastily falls in love while Otani falls...more

When I first read this series, I fell in love. I loved all of the characters, and I wanted the two main characters to fall in love. But I lost interest fast in this series since the plots became more and more general. Plot generally goes as follows for the first ten or so books: one becomes friends with the opposite sex, the other one thinks that their girlfriend/boyfriend is cheating on them, the couple fights about the misunderstanding, and then they make up. There was a place and time in my l...more

Imagine a love story wherein the girl who was the tallest in the class and the guy who was the shortest fallen in love with one another.

This is probably one of the funniest and romantic anime I've ever watched.

Finally got around to reading this after seeing the live action movie and a bit of the anime. This was freaking adorable, especially the banter between Otani and Risa. Curious as to how long it'll take for them to finally realize that there meant for each other, what with being 100 percent compatible and all. Also love the art style. Heard its compared to another manga series We Were There. Like it better here. As for the cover however, at first I thought it was a guy for some reason. It looks o...more

I loved Lovely complex as an anime but I found that the manga was ten times better. To elaborate, in the anime its really hard to find that romantic tension between the two leads but the manga does a really good job of conveying that these are two teens who are actually attracted to each other. Besides that the series in general is a very good shoujo, the characters are comedic, romantic and the obstacles aren't too frustrating. My only criticism towards the characters is that Risa cries way too...more

Summary: Also known as Lovely Complex, this shōjo romantic comedy is created by Aya Nakahara, and follows Risa, a tall girl, and Ōtani, a short boy. The pair are in high school together, and because of their height differences they are called the "All Hanshin Kyojin" (which is apparently a popular Japanese comedy duo with a similar height diference). The story starts with the two constantly at each other's throats (a sure sign they will be involved in a romance plot), and to mak...more

Risa is the main character of the book Along with the shortest guy of the class...Atsushi. He is the guy that Risa so hate. I think if she can she wanted to punch his hard and send him to the Hosiptal. But Risa got a eye on this boy his name is Suzuki. He don't think anything bad about Risa unlike Atsushi which she called shrimp.
Risa and her friend are going to a pool of course Suzuki is coming followed by shrimp. That is the only time whan they are along in the pool. Until Risa is t...more
So, I've watched the anime and somehow managed to watch the live-action movie. (The things you can stumble upon on YT, seriously.) It was only a matter of time till I finally picked up the original manga... right?

Now that day has come (years later) and here I am having a hoot with my heart all a gigglin' in my fan-girling ways. This was just adorable, aDORKable even!
A story of an unlikely/likely romance between two characters that different in height, but not heart.

My almost ten-year-old has been bringing these home and I was concerned that she wasn't quite old enough for the content, so I decided to pick it up and read it myself. We also watched the movie. Overall, it is not bad. It's a pretty cutesie storyline about a tall girl and a short boy who like each other and have a lot of obvious chemistry between them, but whenever they go out in public together even as friends they get looks and comments, and their friends treat them like a comedy duo. The dia...more
I give this series( well mainly this book) a two point five out of five stars. And yes, I am rounding it to three because it just makes me feel horrible to give it a two star rating. And I know it sounds bad, compared to all the stunning "I love you" reviews, but this series was cute, fun and breezy, but not entirely necessary. I mean, I could live without it( which is kind of hilarious because tell me one book you can't live without. Do not answer that!:])

Like I said, Risa and Otani are a cute c...more
Lovely Complex (sometimes called Love*Com) is a story of an unlikely romance between Risa Koizumi, a very tall Japanese girl, and Otani Atsushi, a very short Japanese boy. Risa is self-conscious and loves gaming, while Otani is rather loud and a comedian.
Within the course of the anime, they appear to think they are friends, and even help each other try to get dates with crushes Chiharu Tanaka (Otani) and Ryoji Suzuki (Risa).

This manga is so cute, and one of my all time favorites! I was with my f...more

Love*Com is a hilarious manga series! The story is about the tallest girl in class, Risa, and the shortest boy in class, Otani. The two are at first mortal enemies, purely because when they stand near each other, they resemble a Japanese comedy duo All Hashin-Kyojin and the nickname sticks with them as they are always arguing (in a very comical way). When the two decide to team up to find dates for the other one, (that way they will no longer be All Hashin-Kyojin together) Risa starts to get fee...more

I love this series, this is actually my second time reading the series. I really admire the way they were able to keep the story interesting by making the couple inverted in height. It tackled quite a few insecurities that many people have about dating someone that isn't the height that they would want them to be. It changed my perspective on how I should look for the person I want to spend the most time with. Not to mention the story is hilarious!

My retrospective continues as I slog through a nonfiction book at glacial speed (it's not bad, I'm just reading it in very small spurts).

Please, don't think I'm really this boring. I'm only mostly this boring. I'll get a little less boring when I go back to reading books that consist mainly of pictures.

Love*Com is a series that I quit reading just short of its completion, not because it's bad, but because I got busy with other things during a lull in publishing. It's a cute, high school rom-com...more
This is my favourite shojo manga! Basically, the main character is Risa Koizumi, who is 5'7. She ends up being in the same class as Otani, who is 5'1 or 5'2. They end up being called a comedy duo all the time in class, and hilarity obviously ensues.
I really loved the storyline, which I can relate to perfectly, since it was very light and humorous. The main character, Koizumi, is really funny and not stupid. I often find shojo manga mains tend to react really stupidly to various situations, but...more

Complicated? Complicated. Tapi romantis dan lucu. Bagus!
It's cute and that's all. If you're a fan of love stories and like manga, then this is one of those stories you need to read. It's pretty light, not angts at all, weel only the amount needed for it to be a love story. Lots of comedy and that special way Japanese Mangas has of exposing japanese culture with a more modern twist.

Koizumi Risa, the tallest girl in her class, was destined to meet Otani Atsushi, the shortest boy in his class. I never thought that two different people would fall in love with each other. It proved me that even though both of you have a lot of differences, you are still compatible with each other. Because of their height complexes? Maybe so.

In my opinion, Otani Atsushi is one of the luckiest guy that exists in the world of Shoujo manga because he has a girlfriend who's funny and has a sunny a...more
Odd couple Koizumi and Otani are the tallest girl and shortest boy (respectively) in their class. Fate keeps throwing them into same homerooms and they have come to be thought of by their friends and teachers as comedy team that would make a perfect couple. Except that they want to go out with anybody other than each other. It might seem like an extremely thin premise for a manga, but this is one of the truest-ringing school mangas I've read. How many short boys desperate to grow have I know ove...more
